  1. Gotta laugh once in a while…
  2. Looks like a unique of keeping with the KSTP colors and fonts in the L3 and taking WDIO's weather graphics and opens (all Hubbard, so it makes sense...) Wondering if we see a logo tweak at some point? The "6" behind the anchors looks less italicized than it has been the last 15 years or so?
  3. That's a question for a whole other thread on if/when non O&O affiliates jump on this wagon. Not that I'm opposed to such a thread...
  4. Ding! You'll occasionally hear someone call it "Channel 4", but in Minnesota, "WCCO" (or 'CCO) is a household name. I'll be sure to let you know if hell freezes over and I hear someone call it "CBS News Minnesota".
  5. As of 4pm central, WCCO has flipped.
  6. WCCO has to be flipping today... Facebook page has been rebranded from "WCCO-TV | CBS Minnesota" to "WCCO News & CBS Minnesota". No logos changed on the socials yet... Addendum: No way this played into any launch date whatsoever... But WCCO is on virtual channel 4, and the satellite they kept, KCCW (Walker, MN) is on virtual channel 12... Today is 4/12...
  7. Also if you look at the Hearst map in terms of resources and geography, it compliments WESH and WPBF by giving them coverage on the Gulf coast.
  8. Here it be… black box WCCO running next to the Next Weather logo on TV tonight. Logo card from website added with the old CBS 4 for comparison.
  9. Just saw a promo for WCCO’s Next Weather… current “4” logo replaced with just “WCCO”- they’re going the KDKA route. I’ll stomach CBS primetime for a bit to see if I can catch the promo again.
  10. Whoops! Someone’s getting an email from a sales rep right now! (Blame the new graphics!)
  11. And the new WX graphics look really awkward with the classic L3 is also shown on the screen. That said, this is the same station that as of last week was still using "CBSN Minnesota" graphics... But, I did notice the last couple of days that reporters are ending their bits with "(name) WCCO News". Not trying to speculate, but it is an observation.
  12. Also has some elements to what they just did in Bismarck ND with KFYR... Looks like it ties in to OTT as well
  13. Old pic, but WCCO would have to figure out what to do with the logo on the frosted glass (at least I think it's glass?) above Frank
  14. With respect, based off of the recent posts of the RSN, that was implied.
  15. It's Official. Bally's Is Bankrupt. https://cordcuttersnews.com/bally-sports-just-declared-bankruptcy-the-death-of-rsns/ https://awfulannouncing.com/sinclair/diamond-sports-group-bally-sports-bankruptcy-chapter-11.html
  16. Last fall. 11, 12, 4:30, 5, 6, 6:30, 9, and 10.
  17. KMSP has been doing “Weather First” segments at the start of evening newscasts lately. For those of you who have Fox O&Os on your markets, have you been seeing similar? Could help answer… a) if this is response to other stations Weather branding (WCCO Next Weather, for example), b) response to KSTP doing “Forecast First” at the start of their newscasts (and possibly having success if KMSP is copying), c) both a & b, d) neither. It’s a coincidence.
  18. Turns out things aren't much better over at AT&T SportsNet https://awfulannouncing.com/wbd/att-sportsnet-rsns-reportedly-short-three-mlb-teams-on-rights-payments.html
  19. I just don't see any Big-Four pre-empting any programming if they have a viable alternative they can consistently send a viewer to for a product with varying times like MLB. If I'm watching KMSP with an antenna, it's easy- Fox9 is 9.1, WFTC (MyNet/Fox9+) is 9.2. Different acrobatics if you (still) have cable/satellite. Apply that to DFW or the market of your choosing.
  20. With MLB taking broadcasting in-house with the bankruptcy (as they have claimed they are prepared to do), I see deals with Fox O&O's, for example, to put MLB on the MyNets (WFTC in Minneapolis, KUTP Phoenix, KDFI Dallas, etc.) I get that it's speculation (and apologies in advance) But it's a deal I can actually see being made, to @DirtyHarry's point.
  21. Yes... Unless Univision pulls off wins in some timeslots? I'm pretty sure KXAN dominates the big four.
  22. Allow me to clarify- I did not mean to suggest Gardner would have cared or not- but habitual viewers (I think the term rusty was thrown around earlier this week) would whine and complain if there was too much change at once (again, to clarify, are the possible complaints valid? I don't think so). They probably also call complaining that Ken Jennings is not Alex Trebek.
  23. Let the whole Jim Gardner retiring thing settle before they start making other changes to the newscast, but to your point yes- it's likely they will make some modifications to the newscast at some point. That was already tried in the MySpace era.
  24. Also... No need for that pesky ticker anymore. Any other game you care about can be tracked on your favorite sports network's app. It gives developers more space on screen to work with.
  25. What the heck is "divisive" supposed to mean? I mean I get what the word means, but how far into left field are they really going?
