  1. I would be surprised if they didn't consolidate. But I'm sure it takes some time to get the master control, transmitter link, and all the other equipment and stuff relocated to KNXV's facilities. Especially if KNXV is going to be debuting new gfx anytime soon, I'd assume getting KASW relocated isn't at the top of their priority list.
  2. KOLR10 in June 2004 And here is another from KOLR10 in 2004. By the end of that year, they switched to a new logo and set. As seen here, they also changed the opening sequence. You can also see David Oliver, who is still with the station. Ted Keller can be seen in both videos and left KOLR10 earlier this decade. I miss seeing Ted on the air. For me, this is pure nostalgia. This station is what got me really interested in broadcasting growing up.
  3. KSPR in 2005 when it was called "Springfield 33 News"--Here are a couple of sponsored idents and a short teaser.
  4. For an in-house package, that is outstanding. Very nice. The gfx dept at WAVE deserve a pay raise.
  5. Did the other stations roll out the website design at the same time, or was it more gradual?
  6. That L3 reminds me a bit of WFTV and KTVK. I'd be curious what the open looks like.
  7. I agree. It's hard to do better than Renderon gfx. A refined 2012 look would've been my first choice (bolder L3s with the same color scheme & a re-tooled open similar to WJAX/WFOX, basically flatter but still have some 3D). Or a new package but with a unique (not boring) design to set the look apart from other station groups while staying current. Hearst is a textbook example of a graphics update done right. They kept what worked from their 2012 pkg and yet stayed updated on the look. That was the route Scripps should've took.
  8. I think that even having a faded Scripps logo in the L3s would've been more artistic than what WTXL debuted. At least it wouldn't have been so simplistic of a design that it looks like a text box made in PowerPoint. The music side of things is promising, although they need other cuts for the larger markets. I like the new Scripps music far more than Tegna's "C Clarity", overall. Although I need to hear more cuts before I make my final decision on that comparison.
  9. Honestly, I think the Hearst look is far better than most any other station group gfx. As for the new Scripps gfx, I can't even compare the Hearst gfx to those.
  10. Those L3s have some promise, but that font on the second L3 is...not so great. If they changed the font, those L3s would be a good look. That first L3 looks nice.
  11. Reminds me somewhat of what WBTV looks like for weather forecasts.
  12. Well assuming this music package is as extensive as inergy, I would say it's probably likely (certainly hopeful) they have edgier/urgent cuts for the larger markets
  13. Thank you for pointing that out... (I meant WKRG)
  14. I'm glad that Alan Sealls is returning to air. He is really good at reporting the weather. I think he can attract a lot of viewers from WKRG.
  15. Well I will say that the music is already growing on me. I knew that Stephen Arnold wouldn't disappoint--I've always admired his work. The graphics need some work, though.
  16. Someone was on YouTube commenting that KXXV is "next". Not sure if he's speaking "insider baseball" or just opining, though. We'll find out soon if it's KXXV or some other station that gets it next.
  17. Those transitions also remind me of the Tribune CBS gfx, as well
  18. Upon hearing the open, it's not my favorite but I do like it in many ways. This works fine for Tallahassee (which is a beautiful city, I might add). But I really hope they have edgier cuts for larger markets. This particular intro sound will not work for WPTV, WSFL, and larger market stations such as those.
  19. Here's the open. A commenter to that vid suggested Scripps should've updated their existing graphics like Hearst did with their Diagrid. Great comment and I agree. Edit: I didn't notice someone already uploaded a montage before I shared the open
  20. Thinking of WSFL...this gfx pkg is not going to work for them. Miami viewers are not going to like these gfx too much. The gfx is way too relaxed and doesn't feel like something a serious newscast would use.
  21. Also, just heard the music pkg. Nothing outstanding but sounds good.
  22. Watching WTXL right now (via their website) and I can confirm they have debuted a new set.
  23. I'll miss the old package, especially with what is replacing it. I hoped they would build on what worked in the old package, but they have chosen to go a completely different route.
