Reminds me of the time David Letterman, during his days at NBC, once tried to bring a fruit basket to GE's headquarters only to be told he needed authorization, and he and his crew were later thrown out of the area by the company's rude security people; this was right around the time GE bought NBC in the mid-'80s

That was all I could think of when they said that on CBS Mornings. I can't wait for Gayle King's Top 10 Lists to debut.

  2. The lower thirds look like it should be called "CNN Mornings." Especially when there's breaking news and the orange turns red.

Also, my local affiliate still has the wrong time zone and wrong weather on the ticker.

It's not him. The way the WGBA voice actor opens his 'E' sounds, plus the slightly higher pitch, gives his a definitive Wisconsin vibe. I think he's a local boy.

I re-listened a few times and agree it's not the same voiceover artist. I'm not sure if it's the microphones they use, but both voiceovers sound very... flat? Lacking a certain warmth in the quality? Does that make sense?

Would like to know why they decided to do the morning shows out of KPIX instead of keeping it all in Los Angeles.

One has to think it's to split the workload between KPIX / KCBS, so as not to overwhelm the KCBS staff.

Not just WXYZ wants to be done with "The Now". WEWS has just dropped "The Now" name. In their case, they're now "News 5 at 4 PM".

I'm curious what WGBA and WTMJ would do if "The Now" gets axed. Would they just extend the 6:00 news and keep it under the Live at 6/6:30 moniker, or show a completely different program?

Other companies like Nexstar and Tegna have no problem putting the same graphics on overlapping markets though. It sounds like a KGUN thing, not a Scripps thing.

Good point -- the overlap occurs in Wisconsin with WGBA Green Bay and WTMJ Milwaukee too. Cities in between get both.
