Another stevations upload; this one being a 1999 clip of local coverage from WVEC and WTKR on the case of a missing 5-year-old named Meredith Botros.

Former WAVY/WTKR anchor Les Smith is returning to television on a temporary basis to help WTKR cover various state political races http://hamptonroads.com/2013/10/longtime-anchor-les-smith-returning-tv-bit Should be especially interesting if he has to cover the Chesapeake sheriff's race; where one of the candidates shares Les' name.

From stevations' channel; here's a 1984 WAVY Daily News promo (apologies for the very poor quality). Considering the mention of lead anchor Bob Grip handling the Wednesday's Child segment; this was probably early 1984 (it would be later that year when Terry Zahn was promoted)

Some minor changes in Norfolk. Noticed last night that WVEC tweaked their on-air branding to "13 News Now". VARTV apparently also mentioning that they will be switching gradually to the "ABC 13" branding for non-news ID's (though maintaining current logo).

From WAVY's SportsWrap vault (and thus bookended with weekend guy Brian Parsons); here's a 1984 sports report in which Bruce Rader travels to Met Park (then home of the Norfolk Tides) and interviews a band named Tricks with a very...interesting take on "Take Me Out to the Ball Game"

Looks like WVEC has given longtime traffic reporter Benita Adams the boot. Quote from WVEC on their Facebook (response to a comment asking where she was): VARTV reports Ashley Smith, winner of the Miss United States two years ago, is expected to replace her.

Congratulations on her retirement, though it will be VERY strange not seeing her in the evenings on WAVY. And I'd agree Nicole Livas is likely to replace her.

Stumbled across a series of videos in which the first part includes several clips from WAVY in late 1986 and early 1987 covering Bruce Hornsby (a Williamsburg native) as he went on to win the Best New Artist Grammy for 1986 (part of a playlist; some of which are listed as private).
