    WWBT NBC 12 has kinda-sorta-re-branded to "12 On Your Side" ... However, it's not uniform.  The intros still have the peacock and "NEWS" under the logo with the peacock. Only the bug/ticker and the Facebook page logos have been changed. Everything else is the same for now.

    Is this a trend with GRAY NBC affiliates? WMC Action News 5 removed the NBC Peacock from their onscreen bug all of a sudden.

    I should also point out that WATN does air The Drew Barrymore Show; however, it's on at 1:05AM.

    I wish Local Memphis Live would come back to 9am.

    Unfortunately the Local 24 news days are over. 

     

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Big changes are coming to Local 24 and Local Memphis starting on Sept. 27, 2021. WATN-TV will rebrand to "ABC24 Memphis" to better connect with Memphis viewers. 

    WATN-TV became "Local 24" on air and "Local Memphis" online after it was acquired by Nexstar Broadcasting in July of 2012. In September of 2019, TEGNA purchased WATN from Nexstar and initiated a rebranding study shortly after. The ABC24 branding will come with new logos, a new web address, and new page name on Facebook, "ABC24 Memphis". 

    "ABC24 is already how the Memphis community identifies with WATN," said Sam Carolan, Director of Digital Content for TEGNA Memphis Broadcasting, "It's instantly recognizable to our audience. The new brand also makes a direct connection between WATN's on-air and online presence.  "

    How true, how true! Imagine if someone in Phoenix wanted to turn on the evening edition of KPNX 12 News on coming home from work, and then all of a sudden had TBN shouting at them or Mike Huckabee ranting-- the ratings would tank in a hurry!

    I hope not, I watch WATN in Memphis and even though I don't like TEGNA, I definitely don't want to see the 700 Club every night.
