  1. We have a new full image campaign that was just discovered! This time, it's not from one of the Big 4 networks but rather from Univision for the 1991-92 season, coinciding with their 30th anniversary. I know they used the "La Visión de América" slogan during those years. Hell, I even used an ID with that slogan as the intro to my Noticiero Univision compilation. What I didn't know was that it was actually a full-fledged campaign they had back then.
  2. Actually, even some reality shows are gonna be hit by SAG-AFTRA striking since some of the hosts & people in them may be in that union. This will probably mean the networks go to Plan C, "movies, news, & sports" But I gotta give props to the union for standing with their writer colleagues. The response AMPTP gave to the WGA & SAG-AFTRA is absolutely reprehensible. They literally said they're willing to let the writers lose their homes before taking up their deal. They've already shown their cards & this does nothing but increase the amount of support the unions are getting from the public. Besides, doing this will only end up hurting the studios themselves at the end of the day. I do have a feeling that this could evolve into something much bigger, especially if the Teamsters decide to strike after the end of this month & both the WGA and SAG-AFTRA hold on. Time will only tell.
  3. X-posting this from the YouTube thread, as it's important info about some classic video uploads that are on there. Today is the last day before YouTube privatizes all unlisted videos from before 2017 for some type of security update. In all honesty, this is pretty ridiculous of them to do, but I'm not all surprised to see they're doing some shenanigans that will cause some clips to possibly become lost media. Its so infuriating. https://blog.youtube/news-and-events/update-youtube-unlisted-links/ Anywho, if you know of any videos you might've seen that are unlisted, what I'd recommend is to save them and have the name of the original uploader somewhere in the file name. That way, if you wanna reupload it, you can credit the person who originally posted it, but got the video privated because of YouTube's update. I wish it didn't come at a very inconvenient time for me, but alas
  4. Welp, today is the final day before YouTube privatizes all unlisted videos from before 2017 for "security reasons" or something like that. https://blog.youtube/news-and-events/update-youtube-unlisted-links/ Ugh...I really wish this didn't happen, but I mean, this is YouTube we're talking about, and as we all know, they're not the best at archiving stuff in recent years. None of us know which channels opted out of this update that will impact who sees these videos, but whatever videos you find are unlisted and from before 2017, I recommend you save them and put the original uploader's name somewhere in the file name so if you reupload them, you can credit them for originally posting the video that will become private by YouTube shenanigans
  5. I made a tweet about Sloan's channel being pulled down and tagged the YT Creators account about it. As someone who also has a archival channel, this deeply worries me. I worry even the algorithm could be going after NewsActive3 next. They terminated Sloan's account without any warning yet still has other archival channels like old commercial channels up. Like, this is absolutely insane and makes me worried what this means for archival content on YouTube, especially since I'm pretty sure almost all of them abide by fair use for historical purposes. It's one of the few things holding me back from uploading stuff, along with various other reasons, even though I really want to get back to the swing of things While I can't speak for Sloan's case, I've made it clear that I never monetize my channel and that will still be the case. However, I will be making some changes. In my next video, I plan on giving credit to the original video uploader in the top right of my videos for 3-5 seconds & add in custom thumbnails, which I have done in the past in the early days of my channel as shown in the picture below (the new ones will be much better-looking than this). If I can't find who uploaded the video, I'll just put "unknown" as a placeholder & make a note in the description if I or someone knows who it is. In addition, I'll also be uploading my compilations on the Internet Archive (archive.org) alongside YouTube, so even if YouTube does some shenanigans, the compilations will still be available for people to see & I recommend other archivists do the same.
  6. The open seems to have inspired TVQ-10 in Brisbane, Australia (back when they were on Channel 0) to make GFX of a background behind their "Eyewitness News" lettering back in the early 80s
  7. I think that's the same set WCTV used from 1986, right?
  8. Hello everyone! Looks like I’m gonna be doing another update regarding not only my compilations, but my online activity. If you haven’t seen my Twitter thread sharing my story for Autism Acceptance Month, I suggest you do so. It’ll clear some things up and give more context about my experience. If you already have, thank you.

So far, I’ve been gathering clips for future compilations and ones I’m working on updating and it’s been doing fairly well and I’m trying to get back into things day by day when it comes to my compilations. I am STILL planning on doing my compilations for NW Arkansas, Youngstown, and Salisbury, along with other compilations I plan on updating and I have some ideas I have for my channel. Unfortunately, compiling and gathering clips is very time-consuming and I feel like it’s time-consuming at the expense of other important stuff I should really focus on.

As most of you know, I’m a freshman college student. On top of my compilations, I also have a lot of homework and assignments to do, especially with what’s going on right now in the world. To be honest, I really haven’t been paying attention to my academic needs lately and I’ve pretty much had that spring break mentality I’ve had on my mind for two weeks. It’s putting a burden in my academic work, especially when I’m not used to having to do all my classes online. Sure, it’s a bit convenient but I’m a very easily distracted flamingo when it comes to stuff I have to do online, so it’s hard for me to focus on what’s important.

I really haven’t had all my classes online before in my entire life, and I assume most people haven’t. I really like the sense of having that college experience by going to campus every single day. This is something most people will be having a struggle getting used to, and this is especially the case for people like me who are autistic. For me, I tend to go along with a set routine every day and whenever there’s a disturbance to my routine I get so much anxiety, I become a very easily distracted bird and focus away from the things that are super important. It’s not fun at all. It’s something that would come back to bite me in the butt every single time it has happened. In times like these, I’m honestly trying my best to adjust to this new normal, which I hope is temporary. It’s difficult as heck, but I hope that I will get through this, and I will.

I haven’t been feeling the best for a while now mentally and I know that there’s something wrong with me, but I haven’t done anything about it, at least, not until today. As someone who wants to help people smile, I feel like what’s more important is that I help myself smile, slowly but surely. In a sense, I kinda feel like what Adler the Eagle has been through recently in terms of mental health. I want to stop this self-destructive loop as much as possible and find ways to keep myself organized.

I really haven’t done anything like this ever, mostly because I had this absurd mentality that overworking yourself is how you become successful and that rushing through things is the only way to keep up with others. This is something I need to get my mind off of, because it isn’t healthy for me, especially considering I’m someone who works at a slower and precise pace. I really enjoy making news open compilations and being a part of the communities I’m currently in, and I still do, but right now, I have bigger things to focus on, plus I kinda feel burned out. This is why I’m announcing that I’ll be taking a social media break, which I expect to last around two to three weeks. This means that I won’t be active or at least not as active on all social media platforms I am in, which includes Twitter, Discord, and Fandom. Instagram is somewhat included, but I’ll only be using it so I can connect with friends I know in college.

I’ll only be on Twitter to give important updates or in the event I might have to do emergency commissions, which I really hope doesn’t come to that, because I don’t feel like I’m ready to do commissions at all. As for Discord and Fandom, I won’t be on my main account and will be using another account on my wiki server. Keep in mind, I will only use this account IF and ONLY IF I need to deal with situations where I need to punish someone with a mute or ban and nobody else is available. Other than that, I can’t do anything else such as deleting images from the wiki (unless they’re inappropriate in which case, I will). I’m deeply sorry, but I gotta prioritize on my college assignments as well as my mental health.

I hope you all understand why I made this decision and that it’s for my own well-being. I will be back once I get my stuff together academically and I hope I can have a better and more stable routine when I complete my assignments.

As for things for me to take a short mental break on from my college work, I might be doing something like playing a video game, doing some short exercise, or cutting clips for my future news open compilations. This means progress is still going to be made on my compilations, but now I’m gonna be working on them day by day at my own pace, because compilation-making shouldn’t be a race and I think people should know that.

If there’s anything I want to end this off with, it’s that I know that this is something a lot of people like me are going through right now and that most of us are going through some tough times in one way or another. I know people are also having a hard time adjusting to the new changes in their lives and how their routines have been disrupted due to what’s been going on in the world right now. I know, and it sucks, but rest assured, I have faith there will be good news on the way very soon. We will get through this together. We just gotta take it one step at a time.

P.S. To the one person also doing news open compilations on YouTube currently (Robert Lee), if you can give me a place where I can reach out to you outside of YouTube or contact me through email, that would be very much appreciated. The last thing I want is for someone else, whether it’d be you or someone else to make a compilation of a station I plan on doing because I’m working hard to get back into making compilations, especially from the three markets I plan on doing (Youngstown, Salisbury, & NW Arkansas) and the stations I plan on updating, but I need to take a breather because of other things I have going on in my life.

If I need to, I will try and work something out with you and K.H., who I can talk to on DMs in the TVNT forums. However, please do not rip any of my compilations that I have done or will be updating or this flamingo won’t be very happy. I really don’t like making statements like this, but because you don’t have any other place where I can reach to you, I feel like I don’t have a choice.

  9. Was WESH that cheap in 1986 to where they weren't able to get the "Come Home" package from their own network and instead made their own "Come Home" graphics in-house? I thought those things were free for them. I would expect this in a small market affiliate, not in a mid-sized one like Orlando was at the time.
  10. KSN's open from the early 2000s look like a ripoff of WTVJ's open from 1997 and they use the same music as them.
  11. Well then. Looks like I gotta plan on updating WKBD/WWJ & WTOG's compilation. Never would I thought WTOG would bring back their newscast. This is surprising news.
  12. Here's some rare footage of KRQE in Albuquerque from 1989, back when it was KGGM-TV.
  13. Hello! Just wanted to give you all a status update regarding my compilations.

Currently, I'm in college as a first-year student with eyes on a Graphic Design major. There's gonna be a lot of assignments I'll be working hard on before the semester ends. That being said, that doesn't mean I won't be making those compilations for Youngstown, Salisbury, and Fort Smith, because I will and they will be out as soon as i possibly can.

I also have other stations planned out, but first, I will be updating WBRC as they recently have updated their new graphics and WTHI since they got a new VO due to Ed Hopkins' passing. As for ABC 33/40, I am aware of clips from WJSU in the 80s being released, but I will be updating ABC 33/40 whenever they get their new graphics. Please be patient and bear with me as I work hard to get my schoolwork done as well as get my compilations up and ready to be released. Thank you.

  14. Good news everyone! I'm going to be back at making compilations once again after almost half a year in the shadows. Unfortunately, there's only a few DMAs left that are available so I'm gonna have to make do with what Kyndle hasn't done yet.

Speaking of which, I saw that she did compilations of Grand Rapids & Toledo, two markets I've been planning to do for a long time now. Since I never got to making them at all, I'll brush those 2 markets off, for now.

However, I do feel a little uneasy about her updating WROC, WHAM, & WUHF. Unlike Info Junkie (someone who's helped me with compilations), who kindly asked TL Hughes (the guy who started the "news compilation trend") if he could update his compilations, which he granted him to do so, Kyndle didn't seem to ask me if she could update the 3 stations which I've made compilations of. I just don't know what to do about this one.

The next 2 markets I'll be doing will be kept as a surprise, but the first video I'll be doing is updating WWSB and WLTV, along with making a compilation of 1 other station Kyndle didn't seem to get to.

Thank you all, keep living the good life, and I hope you all have a wonderful day.

You too, get your computer straighten out and we should be golden.

  15. Now the only Taft station ID yet to be seen at this point is WTSP, WGHP, KTXA, & KTSP/KSAZ.
  16. Alright then. I'll keep that in mind.
  17. I was planning on doing the Susquehanna Valley after I finish Rochester and one St. Louis station, but it appears someone already beat me to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qt-x-bJxA38 (WGAL) (Yeah, it seems like embed URLs aren't working for me)
  18. So far, I'm planning on Rochester (NY) and Grand Rapids.
  19. Merry Christmas everyone! Here is my Christmas gift, a compilation of KHON.
  20. Same can be said for Wichita and his channel being terminated alone may hinder the ability for someone to make news open compilations for that market, especially when considering he had opens when KAKE used The News Image.
  21. I just have found a very rare news open of WLNE from 1994-1995 (skip to 5:03).
  22. I'll be headed to two markets this time around. The first one is a market that is small, yet compilation-worthy and that market is Terre Haute, and I'll be starting off with a rare occurrence, and that is a PBS station having a compilation, and that station is WVUT. As for the second one, it's a wait and see.
  23. I decided to get back into doing Puerto Rico. This time, WAPA gets it's compilation, although I might need some help with having a recording or recordings of WAPA's current news open that isn't a second-hand recording.
  24. Lastly, here is the former laughing stock of Birmingham television, WIAT.
  25. After days of finding and adding clips, I have finally finished the compilation for WVTM. Stay tuned in a few days for WIAT.
