Watched the special and enjoyed it. Even so, as someone else mentioned, they could have done a two hour show and gone into more detail about the history. I thought it was interesting that Monica Malpass was barely mentioned though. With her quick departure a few months ago, it seems like they had a falling out but who knows. Rick mentioned that Monica is retired but that isn’t the case since we know she’s at Nasdaq.

WFMZ shared on Facebook that Ed Hanna is returning to tv this fall with an inspirational special. It sounds like he is hoping it will turn into a series.

This morning Bill Henley was delivering the forecast from home over the phone due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

NBC is open to the idea of a fifth hour. -
They announced this morning that Hoda is returning on September 3.
-
If this comes to fruition, will the show change to a more Today like format with more pop culture segments and possibly live performances? It would be a-shame if they removed what makes the show unique and go back to trying to complete head on with Today and GMA.

Meredith Vieira filled in for Hoda on the fourth hour with Jenna today.

According to Variety, CBS is considering making anchor changes.

I usually watch NBC10, but decided to try 3 this morning. After a one minute "eye opener" at 6:30, the remainder of the half hour was fluff. They repeated twice that a new casino had opened in Atlantic City and that it was free WAWA hoagie day downtown.
-
Tonight they launched a "60 second eye opener" at the top of the show.

According to the video, he needed to "take a step back" in order to prevent continued burnout. Ed makes the job look easier than it really is.

Chandi was way too good for WFMZ. Her delivery and professionalism was flawless. I figured a bigger market would notice and grab her. Will miss her.
-
Chandi is anchoring tonight with Will Lewis. Interesting that they decide to make a change now, when she has been doing a great job going solo for a long time.

NBC has to be concerned. GMA is inching closer in the demo.

Just saw a promo stating that the morning news will now start at 4 a.m. Thought they did this before but went back to 4:30.
-
I think the current hour is weak and needs a makeover, so I'm optimistic.

Savannah was a member of the panel this morning on MTP. Would they consider moving her over there permanently and slide Hoda into the main chair?

During the last week before her maturity leave, they won across the board, so she is not in danger. Hoda does a great job, though.

The chemistry between Vai and Tracy is great. The feel of the show has improved.
Vai has also improved at reading the teleprompter.

NBC simply did not see a better option and they are continuing to win in the 25-54 age range. Would they like to win in total viewers? Sure, but it is really just for bragging rights. I would assume that since Willie's show on Sundays has not done tha well, it is probably the reason for why he has not been given the job.

Just watched the 40 years special. An hour and a half of everything you wanted to know or didn't need to know about WFMZ. (Commercial free) I think they could have cut a half hour of it. Was interesting though in places. Never realized that the station was launched after NBC and ABC affiliates failed.

It will be interesting to see if Matt re-signs next month or if he leaves the show. Not sure who would replace him.
