    Edited to add...

As of today KUSI.com redirects into Fox5SanDiego, with the KUSI logo at the top adjacent to Fox 5.

Wonder if we’ll soon see a new url such as mysandiegoproudhomepage.com 😂😂😂

  2. Watched a few videos on WBRE/WYOU’s YouTube channel. On the lower thirds, they’re branding it as 22/28 News, Weather, Sports, etc…

They’re also saying “22/28 News” when tossing to reporters.

A while back, WBRE and WYOU debuted new logos so I wonder if this is part of a slow rebrand.

It's got to be some syndicated package.  Like WFMJ, KRGV is part of a smaller company (who also owns WBRZ in Baton Rouge).   Since TV is dominated by corporate packages anymore, any idea who could have designed this?

Good lord, I missed that on the YT clip.  I've been watching recent newscasts and I haven't seen that.  They may have had second thoughts on it too.

Ruth Dial, formerly of Giant Octopus. She designed the KRGV look and the previous WFMJ look.

  4. Good lord… Why are we continuing to beat a dead horse here?

He is literally THE ONLY person doing this. He’s writing, producing, anchoring, editing, etc… give the guy some credit.

I've said it once and I’ll say it again; unless  you’re going to reach out and offer to help in some way, get off his back.

At last, some cuts of this package have been found. Unfortunately, I think most of them are lost or damaged. Loonis McGlohon (who collaborated with Al Ham) donated his archives to East Carolina University as part of his estate, which had two of the three reels for On Top of It All. Reel 1 wasn't included. Reel 2 had "Sticky Tape Syndrome" which likely renders that unplayable and Reel 3 is mostly intact, save for a few tracks. What's left of Reel 3 is mostly promo themes, but does include a portion of the news theme in the clear.

The university also digitized a promotional reel for Part of Your Life, which is better quality than the cues on TVPMM. McGlohon and Ham created the theme for WBTV in 1974. https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/62790

Great find! I’m sending this to News Music Now and NSMA!

It might be in everyone’s best interests for the program to be put on hiatus indefinitely and retooled outright.

If it got canceled or ended by Austin’s volition, well, I again fault the station for not doing a darn thing to help the product at launch. They failed him.

    Not cancelled…

I think he's doing it weekly on Mondays only for now.

    Not airing only Mondays.

Assuming there was some technical difficulties last night, but he was back at it full force tonight with more improvements!

Also go to enjoy a long cut of News One at the close of his newscast!

    Thank you, @ABC 7 Denver

One thing I noticed is how absolutely hyper-critical this fandom tends to be without actually taking a step back and trying to understand the "How"s & "Why"s behind changes in news products. Are some graphics actually bad? Yes. Some are. Is EVERY SINGLE aspect of a graphics package bad simply because you personally don't like one aspect of it? No. That's absolutely not the case. These absolute statements and severe judgements based on a few minutes of witnessing something new just leads to drama, and I'm personally getting kind of sick of it.

It's not everybody, but I just find the irony kind of amazing that the whole thing behind news is being objective, yet we let our personal feelings dictate definitively that something is "bad". Not everything is 100% "Bad"

MY58's news department is a one-man-band with the budget of $12 and a ham sandwich. The product will get better over time.  There will be a lot of testing & figuring it out, and he deserves our support for taking on a project like this.

Bottom line is, Austin is one of us. He's a total news nerd just like we are, and he's a damn good journalist. He has a challenge ahead of him that he willingly took on. We really should, as a community, be in his corner to support him, and not completely rip apart his product on the first night.

In fact, we really need to learn how to sit back and observe things for a few nights before we draw our conclusions, weighing all pros & cons of certain things instead of just crapping on something the first time we see it just because it's different.

TLDR: Guys, we really need to step it up and do better, instead of turning everything into a bitch-fest.

    VERY WELL SAID ❤️❤️❤️

  8. Not sure who first replied to NMN’s comment, but if we’re going to be honest, I don’t think they are “well positioned to be commenting…” They clearly don’t understand how big of a risk this could’ve been to the future of News Music Now and even NMSA.

I wouldn’t say NMN has unauthorized use. I know the news music publishers know about News Music Now. Some publishers I’ve spoke with have mentioned the site, other publishers have been tagged in his posts and they’ve reacted to and even commented his posts. He has taken steps to prevent copyright violations and this exact situation from happening.

Luckily, this was all a VERY BIG misunderstanding and he actually has a license for News One. But if cuts start getting ripped from the site by tv stations to use, they could view News Music Now and even the NMSA as a threat and ask for the sites to be shut down, then what would we all do?

With all that being said, let this be a lesson to all of us, myself included… “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”. Austin is taking a chance and following a dream and that’s more than a lot of people can say. I hope these people criticizing him and critiquing him are reaching out to him and offering to help in any way possible; and if not, sit back down.

I know I hope to see it grow and this newscast be successful.

  9. In case you haven’t seen Studio 31’s post, KMSG (fixed) in Fresno launched an 8pm newscast.

The music used includes Eyewitness News (for weather) News One Versions 1&2 (for main theme) Impact for a segment and This is Home for Sports…

What’s interesting about this is you can clearly hear the ‘chirp’ in the NewsOne theme from News Music Now’s website…

Any station using Nexstar NBC graphics is going to have their competition cream them. WJCL should've passed WSAV at this point.

Realistically speaking, a graphics package isn’t going to make or break a station.

    WVNS got the WISH graphics.

Not bad but very small market. Just a few questions:

    1) What is with the open? Why does the same logo animation appear twice at the beginning (once with the slogan, once with out) then again at the end (one without the time and one with the time). Whatever the deal is with that just makes it look more cheap.

    2) Is a stinger really necessary for every story?

    3) Is that a talent open or mugshot? The meteorologist practically looking to the left.  It’s about as awkward and cringy as WJET’s talent open.

Overall, I give this a ‘C’ - it’s definitely an improvement, but more could be done on the design/creativity side of the graphics and music.

It’s actually CBS Local from Stephen Arnold Music. I remember someone on this thread noticed that they were using the CBS Local election theme during their automated election results video stream last year.
I recorded a brief clip from CBSN Bay Area:

That was me that heard the CBS Local used for the election. Makes me wonder if they’re starting to phase in CBS Local and will eventually be dropping Enforcer… 🤔

WILX News 10 in Lansing /Jackson market updated their logo to a red box from the previous blue, also transitioned to the First Alert Weather branding. The graphics look similar to the WAVE/WMBF look. They even did a whole news article about their changes.
