  1. Their, not there. It reminds me of the Cheddar logo as well which makes sense. I noticed it on my Altice One guide on Monday. I have not noticed it on air on News12NJ as of yet.
  2. Another new reporter, Anjali Hemphill. From what I could see she came from WTTG (Fox) in DC.
  3. WNBC has named a new weekend anchor, coming from the CBS O&O in Dallas. She begins Nov. 4. https://tvnewscheck.com/article/more-news/240112/gilma-avalos-named-wnbc-weekend-evening-news-anchor/?utm_source=Listrak&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=Gilma+Avalos+Named+WNBC+Weekend+Evening+News+Anchor&utm_campaign=Nexstar+%26+Sook%3a+TVN's+Station+Group+Of+The+Year
  4. That is not true. Department stores like Macy's, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdales, Best Buy, PC Richard and Son, and others continue to advertise in my local paper. Not as much as they used to.
  5. As I said it is a vicious circle they have created. Cut reporters and columnists, many long time favorites, cut content, lose subscribers, then lose advertising. It's not a good model. Once GateHouse takes over, I'll probably drop my subscription too.
  6. Be careful what you wish for. This merger is not good news for journalism or its readers. GateHouse basically kills newspapers, eliminating most staff, cut content and include much less locally generated stories. They bought the paper where I grew up, and it is a shadow of itself. Their website also has a draconian fire wall, 3 here articles a month. That's all. Gannett bought my local paper 2 years ago (the Bergen/North Jersey Record) they, got rid of a good portion of the staff, cut content but is still better than a GateHouse run paper. Sadly, when GateHouse managers take over, which they will considering New Media/GateHouse is buying Gannett but using the name for the combined operation, even worse cuts are going to be made that will beg the question: why bother subscribing anymore. Operators like GateHouse have made a vicious cycle. If they invested, beefed up local reporting, then they too can have a renaissance like the Post or Times. The DOJ approving this merger is the death of many more local papers. I'd rather have a Newhouse/Advance paper despite the cuts made at the Star Ledger. It's still much better than the Record under Gannett's stewardship.
  7. Of the choices of Sinclair, Nexstar, Tegna and Scripps - they actually ended up with the better owner of those 4. Tegna is ruining all their stations (WXIA, KSDK, among more). Nexstar, like Sinclair only knows to cut, cut, cut. Hopefully there is no movement on changing ownership rules considering the obsolete UHF discount was restored, which allowed this deal and Nexstar does not take over.
  8. For the first time in 71 years, WPIX is under new ownership. As of today, it is part of Scripps Television Stations, one of the spin offs from the Tribune/Nexstar merger (thank goodness). https://pix11.com/2019/09/19/wpix-under-new-ownership-for-first-time-in-71-year-history-acquired-by-e-w-scripps/
  9. New meteorologist Matt Brickman made his inaugural broadcast on tonight's 6 pm broadcast.
  10. Fox5, WNYW has made it official on the new anchor team for Good Day Wake Up: https://tvnewscheck.com/article/top-news/238966/new-co-hosts-for-wnyws-good-day-wake-up/?utm_source=Listrak&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=New+Co-Hosts+For+WNYW’s+‘Good+Day+Wake+Up’&utm_campaign=Meredith%2c+Dish+Reach+New+Retrans+Deal
  11. Yes, all the network flagships and PIX 11 covered the annual reading of the names from beginning to end (approximately 12:10 pm to get through all 3000 names). It is still very poignant and a fitting tribute to all the victims, from the busboy at Windows of the World, the staff at Cantor Fitzgerald, all the other office workers and visitors at the time, as well as the first responders and those that perished on the two planes.
  12. Sounds like a pay to play type thing that is springing up everywhere with maybe a little real news sprinkled in.
  13. I think it is just promoting that their full morning team were born and bred in the New York or New Jersey. The approach has been tried before elsewhere until a new hire from outside is brought in.
  14. Do you mean Time Warner Cable that is now Charter Spectrum? TWC was separated from TimeWarner years ago. And to your point, I prefer news coming from Edison NJ (News12) than on in Rye Brook NY.
  15. Have traffic subs? All the rest do. It’s been the subject of much discussion in this thread.
  16. As I expected including the addition of Cheddar and i24 News. Altice is about distribution for their news networks. This is not the old Dolan controlled Cablevision anymore. The “only on cable” & “only on Optimum” branding will go away.
  17. Football is a wonderful sport. Year after year, it forces retransmission squabbles to settle.
  18. I can’t help but wonder if All Access was quickly developed when the NBC O&Os realized they had no replacement for Extra.
  19. Extra is NOT being replaced by news. Access Hollywood is moving to 7 and will be live. At 7:30 will be All Access. Access Live is changing its title to Access Daily. Click the article for full details. https://tvnewscheck.com/article/top-news/238181/new-season-changes-to-nbcs-access-franchise/?utm_source=Listrak&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=New+Season%2c+Changes+To+NBC’s+‘Access’+Franchise&utm_campaign=Stations+Expand+Social+Media+News+Tools
  20. Not everywhere. It was only added in NJ a year ago (not impressed). It moved to Ch 64 a few months ago. NJTV is on Ch 8.
  21. News12 has been available to Charter and Comcast for many years. NY1 has been on Optimum for over a year now. The only competition the Dolans did not allow to carry News12 was Verizon (and of course satellite providers). Altice clearly has a different objective if our speculation is correct. Makes sense.
  22. The Dolans no longer own or are involved with News12. It is a different day. As I mentioned, I suspect this is tied into getting distribution of i24News which Altice also owns and Cheddar Business which they just bought. In fact the founder/head of Cheddar is now the CEO of the News networks division so gaining more distribution is probably a priority. It all is beginning to make sense.
  23. Thinking the same thing. I can't see someone starting up, staffing up something new in this day and age when there already is one available. It would represent a long standing change in policy that the Dolans had against Verizon. I suspect it also will include Verizon adding i24News and perhaps Cheddar Business.
  24. The only change to Access is that it has added Mario Lopez as Natalie Morales' replacement on both the Live version at 1 and the evening show, as had been rumored long before her status changed. Access is produced by NBC stations so it is not going anywhere. Extra then filled the open spot with Billy Bush as well as the move to Fox Stations Group.
