  1. Or put the Today logo in the middle as they do at the beginning of the show.
  2. So then he's only doing 6-7 am and 10-11 am 3-4 days a week? I could totally see ABC7 taking proactive measures and bringing in a 6th meteorologist, even if just for vacation relief (which is how Dani started off before Brittany moved to weekday mornings). It took entirely too long to replace Bill Evans.
  3. Sam is clearly phasing his way into retirement...first he gives up the 4:30-6 portion of the morning show, then the noon..he's now only doing the 6-7 portion of ENTM and mornings at 10, as well as the cut ins during GMA I believe. And he seems to be also taking more than just Friday's off as of late. Per his Instagram, he's regularly on the beach in Miami just hours after the noon show on many a Thursday.
  4. A day off sure, but I doubt if it was a scheduled day off that Shirleen would have anchored the 1st hour alone. It had to have been last minute.
  5. Must have been a last minute call out. Mike must be sick. Channel 7 almost never has one anchor alone on newscasts longer than 30 minutes...except for weekend evenings. They usually don't have anyone fill in for Joe or Sandra when they're off for some reason.
  6. She is probably Derick Waller's replacement, as his last day was 10/3. He said it was all his decision, as after 6 years of getting up at 2am, he needed a change. Hope to see him at another station soon, as he is an excellent reporter. Lindsay was great at NY1; good pickup by WABC. Always love her New Year's Eve segments with her dad Gary Tuchman on CNN.
  7. I'm guessing this is the Mon-Thur schedule, since Sam is off on Fridays. Also, no mention of who is handling the 7-8 AM live online newscast as well as the weather cut ins during GMA. I've noticed recently that Mike and Shirleen haven't been anchoring it as much lately, I'm sure due to their already packed schedule. If I'm not mistaken, I believe I saw Sonia Rincon anchoring a few times last week.
  8. They probably make one with Brittany & the team for the 4:30-6:00 portion and one with Sam for the 6-7 portion and the 10 am show.
  9. I hope this isn't true. It's a 2.5 hour newscast. In that time, the meteorologist is on approximately every 10 minutes for what, about 2-3 minutes a pop, give or take? Why one person can't handle that like all the other stations in America I don't understand. Hell, at some Fox stations, one meteorologist does the entire 4:30-10am morning show (Mike Woods for example at WNYW). Now that to me is a lot for one person, but what do I know?
  10. All the other ABC stations have new graphics. Anyone know what the holdup is at WABC?
  11. Not true...WABC, WPVI, and WTVD all air GH at 3pm eastern. Has been for awhile now. Even when All My Children and One Life to Live we're still on, GH was always on at 3pm.
  12. ABC wanted schedule synergy among the east coast and central time zone stations. Kelly & Mark @ 9:00, local news @ 10:00, The View @ 11:00/10:00 Central, Local News @ Noon/11:00 Central, GMA3 @ 1:00/Noon central, Tamron Hall @ 2:00/1:00 central, and GH @ 3:00/2:00 central.
  13. Until General Hospital leaves the air, there will never be 3pm newscasts on the east coast ABC stations. Notice they only have the 10am shows in NY, Philly, & Raleigh, where Rachael Ray leaving (and Tamron moving to 2pm) left the 10 am slot open.
  14. Still seems weird to now have 4 meteorologists assigned to weekdays (Sam, Brittany, Dani, & Lee) and only 1 (Jeff) on weekends for now. I thought hiring Dani was supposed to alleviate some of burden. That's usually the point of having 5 meteorologists on staff. The channel 7 strategy is very confusing. The only other thing I can think of is Dani taking over weekend mornings for good and only working 2-3 days during the week at 10:00 & Noon
  15. They'll probably alternate who works the 10am & Noon. I doubt we'll ever see 3 meteorologists on one newscast on a regular basis, unless there's a big storm
  16. They may play around with Anchor pairings for awhile, but ultimately my money is on someone inhouse already getting it. I would bet Sandra Bookman doesn't want to do mornings permanently. If she wanted off weekends permanently after all these years I'm sure she would have done it either at ABC7 or somewhere else. David Navarro seems to enjoy the Noon & 4:00 schedule. Plus he and Liz started First @ 4 together so I'm sure they take some pride in that. My money is either on Michelle Charlesworth or Mike Marza.
  17. You're allowed your opinion, I'm allowed mine. This is America after all. Also, never said what Ken allegedly did was right, just didn't think he should have been fired.
  18. It's been well documented that the previous news director was not well liked for the decisions she made and how she treated people. Nobody moves cities to anchor one hour long newscast, and definitely not the Noon! Shirleen was groomed to be Lori's replacement and people felt a certain way about it. I vividly remember people commenting on this very blog that they thought it was weird Shirleen was moving for one show.
  19. Phil Lipof would never come back unless he was anchoring with Michelle GUARANTEED! So we can just forget about that pipe dream.
  20. We're all allowed to have our opinions just as you are! The consensus is that Shirleen wasn't very well liked. Not saying she deserved to be called that, if she was. I also feel this is leftover resentment from the way Lori was pushed out for a younger version of her. I think we all wondered why Shirleen was brought in from 6abc in Philly just to do the Noon when Channel 7 at the time had a very stable anchor roster and incredible ratings. Then she started filling in on the morning show more and more. You can't control how viewers feel. And then Lori mysteriously leaves after 18 years with taped goodbye? Always seemed fishy to me!
  21. Personally, I never liked Shirleen. She never had that warm and fuzzy feeling that morning anchors are supposed to have. There is a reason why Ken had the job since 2007. I'm hoping the rumors aren't true because that would be a terrible way to go out. It's a safe bet Mike Marza gets the job. He's been auditioning since the day he started!
  22. Demarco worked at NBC affiliates WNBC in NYC, WTVJ in Miami, & WXIA in Atlanta, not on any network shows there. He also worked at CBS News and KCBS in Los Angeles, and his departure was more a part of the CBS to KCAL format change and CBS wanting to try something new in the morning in Los Angeles with Jamie Yuccas as the centerpiece. He and his former co anchor Suzanne Marques were let go they didn't quit, although she is now doing entertainment pieces for KCBS.
  23. I hope getting laid was worth their jobs! So sad they couldn't keep it together. You NEVER hear anything in the tabs about Muir's love life! This story from CNN says the issue isn't the affair itself but rather that TJ was point blank asked and he allegedly lied. "People familiar with the matter previously told CNN that when the Daily Mail first reached out to ABC News for comment about the relationship between Robach and Holmes, a surprised network spokesperson tried to determine whether the allegation was true. The spokesperson contacted Holmes, who poured cold water on the tabloid's reporting. That resulted in the spokesperson trying to push back against the outlet's reporting. The Daily Mail wasn't deterred and published its explosive story. When ABC representatives later saw the images included in the Daily Mail's story, they were taken aback, the people familiar with the matter said." https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2022/12/12/media/abc-gma3-anchors-internal-probe/index.html
  24. Nowhere near Lauer levels indeed, but the optics are not good. I hope they don't have any morality clauses in their contract. And with all due respect, besides the ass grabs, they have multiple shots, different days, some days in a row, of them at each other's apartments. This has clearly been going on for awhile.
