  1. Some WVVA clips from late 1985-early 1986, including an open and close, reports, and outtakes from their NBC News "Common Goal" promo:
  2. Wha? Sinclair building a newscast? This has to be a joke. They don't build newscasts unless it's done at WSBT or another station! A note about that. Despite sadvertising KidsClick on air, TBD never advertised it on their website! They're schedule even listed normal TBD shows from 6-9! I'll bet the reason to fill the slot with paid programs instead is to get back some of the $$$ Sinclair lost in investing in Kids Click.
  3. I think they also did ESPN's 1994-1999 Sportscenter intro:
  4. And here's another episode of Five Country Closeup from September 1979, proving that the logo debuted that year (in case @Info Junkie wants to upload the ID by itself, and the maybe news open too): Watch at the end for a commercial break that was from the previous recording!
  5. It's been on YT for several months, but here I present for you an episode of WOI-TV's Five Country Closeup from January 8, 1980, which includes a slick early-CGI ID using The Best Things in Life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7srqi8itko The ID was created by a Seattle-based firm called Alpha Cine (who also designed graphics for KOMO & KSTW): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwuOJ8zTg3g And that's by no means all! In another video, I found the news open they had back then, which used a new cut of TBTIL that I've not heard before: https://youtu.be/Q8tOk9Fto94?t=1829
  6. It was a longshot, trying to bring back a dead and buried programming form that no company had any interest in reviving, but I honor their effort, and I am surprised they've managed to make it this far. Could we possibly see Kids Click return in the future as a full network? They went through enough shows in the nearly 2 years to fill up a whole day's schedule.
  7. He got two out of three strikes. For your consideration, I present WOI-TV's post Oscars newscast from March 23, 1998. They were at the time on a temporary set, a new one (along with the ABC affiiliates theme) would debut in exactly one week:
  8. VHSGoodiesWA3 said his channel is in danger of being terminated, quickly, save as many of his videos as you can! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFiT_g6NLYQojQ5ttOAMp3w/
  9. Here's a WQAD newsbreak from 1987/88 using WFTV's mid 80's theme:
  10. So it looks like Grit is here to stay, even though it's now devolved in to a waste of space for many major stations.
  11. CourtTV already announced it's affiliates? That I didn't know. Well, for now, there are only 13 of them, most of which feature Grit on another station. I can imagine the roster will expand greatly before or after the launch. I'm sure many station managers are desperate to move up from ther 60+ skewing Grit to the younger CourtTV.
  12. I saw a promo for CourtTV's launch airing on Grit today. If you want anymore proof that CourtTV will take Grit's place when it debuts in May, I'll tell you that Grit's advertising base is now almost entirely comprised of 1-800 insurance/medicare/IRS ads. The all-westerns format is just a place-holder/filler for them until CourtTV is ready to go. If Grit were serious about staying on, they would at least acquire some stronger programming.
  13. Quick question, will YT ever renable the ability to search by upload date anytime soon?
  14. For much of the 70's, KAIL only broadcast about 4-5 hours a day, it was mostly public affairs and religious shows. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a brief period after that where the station went dark and then came back under new owners and with a stronger signal and schedule.
  15. Here's our mystery man the late Jeff Ellingson right after he began VO work for WAFF:
  16. They had been using that theme dating back to at least 1982, as evidenced by the end of this vid:
  17. If ABC winds up canceling GMA Day Strahan & Sara (what are their ratings like?) and does announces a comeback for the cancelled soaps, they can only bring back one or the other, since they gave 3pm back to the affiliates back in 2012 after OLTL's replacement The Revolution, bombed. And don't expect them to cancel the View too, that show just got it's second wind by becoming another anti-Trump outlet. My money is on the older All My Children getting the reboot, but who knows?
  18. Here's KAKE from 1994 when it was known as "Today's KAKE":
  19. Aha! I knew you'd take my bait @Info Junkie! But next time, please give the original uploader credit! Here from the same source tape is the sign-on of WHO-TV, and the promo appears again at 8:19.
  20. Well, congrats! Your posts don't look like that of an 18 year old, they're very professional! Did someone order some Wichita clips?
  21. KDEB's last day as an ABC affiliate was October 5, and their newscast ended on July 25. @Info Junkie, you might want to upload this yourself, it's the rare First News/Nowhere Else campaign from WHO-TV which I previously thought was exclusive to CTV stations:
  22. Here's KHQA in 1998 with Suzy Nelson VO and Signature:
  23. Bumping this up after a month to say that Sinclair and Bottom Line with Borris was mentioned on last night's Late Show:
  24. Now here's a real rarity. Channel 10 in Helena, back when it was Helena's first Fox affiliate (which after a series of affiliation switches and a hostile buyout of the IP by Gray is now KUHM, the Helena outlet of Montana PBS) had Montana's very first 9pm newscast, which was produced by KTVH under a time brokerage agreement. https://youtu.be/-x9gSICsm44?t=581
  25. A Florida News Network special from May 1997 on preparing for hurricanes. This was produced at and recorded off WFTV, an early example of their Counterpoint/EQ Vance era. Due to bad weather and power failures, WDEF is forced to do their 11pm news for March 20, 1995 from their newsroom:
