  1. Which is funny given I think Clark-Tyler was probably the best combo in that group. When it was Hsu-Grove | Hill-Rosenfield | Clark-Tyler it was fantastic. Ira Joe, Mark and Warner fit. (Of course Mark Danon did himself in)
  2. Stephen Clark told me that he was through 4 directors in 4 years. He wasn't much happy there either.
  3. Sade also sounded ill a couple nights ago. Also, we seem to have acquired Phil Taitt from News 12 for morning reports. Considering they've been short a morning person since Derrick Waller understandably walked away, I'm guessing he's the replacement.
  4. Look, I thought the complaining about the old package was a bit much over a lot of nothing. I don't think it was ever as terrible as claimed. This is a very slick package. We'll probably see it replaced in 6-7 years as is general timeline. (Even this package lasted longer than most of them have.)
  5. Working at WABC as an intern helps. Congrats to Sandra. We've certainly had old late 90s weekends with Bill and Sandra working so much on weekdays.
  6. Elise Finch - July 16 Dr. Max Gomez - September 2 Arnold Diaz - October 24 Pablo Guzman - November 27 WCBS just getting hammered.
  7. I would've done this as a separate thread myself. Probably one of the most intimidating reports in the city and always got results. Didn't realize he was batting MM.
  8. I'm currently good with the same theme. The CHL one is really out of date and doesn't really fit a modern broadcast in my opinion. Considering less WABC broadcasts have them, at some point I wonder if they just throw up their hands and eliminate the talent opens for good.
  9. This was missed over all the lineup discussion, but that's the first sighting of Rose Ann in years. She wasn't on the 50th anniversary of EWN stuff in 2018.
  10. Problem with David is the same as it would be for Jim. David is 63. He's at the point he can retire whenever he wants too. Mike is still young enough to have the long-term ability.
  11. Rosenfield joining WABC, if it occurs, would also make him a rare three-peat, working for all 3 major stations of NYC (WABC, WNBC and WCBS). Ira Joe Fisher has done it. John Johnson has done it. I feel like there's probably someone I'm forgetting.
  12. Jim Rosenfield wanted to be closer to home and honestly, it's a fantastic pickup if it occurs. Rosenfield is 64, I don't think he's Bill's successor long term.
  13. I will say that wasn't the case until really late. Even by 1995 they still were just "Finally tonight" on a shot of Bill Beutel.
  14. Bill Beutel finished every 6pm and numerous broadcasts with his own comments. He certainly earned his right to do so. Bill has his biases. That happens. If the ratings aren't showing problems with it, then why would staff do anything about it?
  15. He's almost 81. I feel like 50th anniversary (next year), will be the determination time how much longer. He's only doing the 6pm broadcast as is.
  16. Wonder if he is on the buyouts from NBC. Wouldn't surprise me.
  17. Yeah that'll certainly answer the unceremonious breakup with WABC. Going to a rival in city station will do that.
  18. Anthony Carlo, formerly of News 12, is working the shift Naveen was working.
  19. Fred Roggin used to do Sundays as well. It's not a terrible concept. Sports on Sundays are common and Friday and Saturday being Sam's days seems a little simple.
  20. Usually if she's on at 5 pm it's as a reporter. Her filling in as an anchor is incredibly rare.
  21. I am not a fan of KABC's chiron package. This WABC one isn't that great, but I've learned to live with it. That said, as noted, there is change coming, but it's believed to be a universal ABC O&O one.
  22. I will say the EWN team has been tributing him on Twitter and Facebook, but yes, the lack of an on-air tribute is disappointing. WCBS (and Dana Tyler) gave Michele Marsh one.
  23. Robb was playing 2nd string for lack of a better term and was passed over for Bill Ritter. So I get it. WFOR offered him a job and he took it. He also stated he felt that the anchors had no input on the broadcasts and he wanted to be more involved. That being said, this hurts. Robb Hanrahan always seemed like the most genuine male anchor WABC had during the 1990s and early 2000s. Bill Ritter's fine and professional and stuff, but I really loved Robb and the outpouring of support, you can tell how much he was loved. It sucked to see him retire after his literally to death experience and after all that to see him alive and healthy again, just to die < 24 months later, sucks. I'm going to miss him and I'm pretty sure all over New York, Miami and Harrisburg he will be eternally missed.
  24. Janine D'Adamo and David Rogers was the WCBS pair. 2 people doing the same job on the same broadcast isn't really what I'd do. WWOR did it with Russ Salzberg and Monica Pellegrini and "Sports Team 9" I feel like it screws with the dynamic.
