  1. I will say that wasn't the case until really late. Even by 1995 they still were just "Finally tonight" on a shot of Bill Beutel.
  2. Bill Beutel finished every 6pm and numerous broadcasts with his own comments. He certainly earned his right to do so. Bill has his biases. That happens. If the ratings aren't showing problems with it, then why would staff do anything about it?
  3. He's almost 81. I feel like 50th anniversary (next year), will be the determination time how much longer. He's only doing the 6pm broadcast as is.
  4. Wonder if he is on the buyouts from NBC. Wouldn't surprise me.
  5. Yeah that'll certainly answer the unceremonious breakup with WABC. Going to a rival in city station will do that.
  6. Anthony Carlo, formerly of News 12, is working the shift Naveen was working.
  7. Fred Roggin used to do Sundays as well. It's not a terrible concept. Sports on Sundays are common and Friday and Saturday being Sam's days seems a little simple.
  8. Usually if she's on at 5 pm it's as a reporter. Her filling in as an anchor is incredibly rare.
  9. I am not a fan of KABC's chiron package. This WABC one isn't that great, but I've learned to live with it. That said, as noted, there is change coming, but it's believed to be a universal ABC O&O one.
  10. I will say the EWN team has been tributing him on Twitter and Facebook, but yes, the lack of an on-air tribute is disappointing. WCBS (and Dana Tyler) gave Michele Marsh one.
  11. Robb was playing 2nd string for lack of a better term and was passed over for Bill Ritter. So I get it. WFOR offered him a job and he took it. He also stated he felt that the anchors had no input on the broadcasts and he wanted to be more involved. That being said, this hurts. Robb Hanrahan always seemed like the most genuine male anchor WABC had during the 1990s and early 2000s. Bill Ritter's fine and professional and stuff, but I really loved Robb and the outpouring of support, you can tell how much he was loved. It sucked to see him retire after his literally to death experience and after all that to see him alive and healthy again, just to die < 24 months later, sucks. I'm going to miss him and I'm pretty sure all over New York, Miami and Harrisburg he will be eternally missed.
  12. Janine D'Adamo and David Rogers was the WCBS pair. 2 people doing the same job on the same broadcast isn't really what I'd do. WWOR did it with Russ Salzberg and Monica Pellegrini and "Sports Team 9" I feel like it screws with the dynamic.
  13. I don't know if she'll need that much equipment training. If I remember right, her former colleagues in Raleigh are the ones who designed much of the NY package.
  14. Not surprised. They've been using the Raleigh affiliate's weathercasters for a bit when they have none of their 4 to fill in. (Yes, they had Spencer Christian and one of the WPVI weathercasters). Hopefully she's joining as a 5th and we're not losing one of the 4.
  15. My only preference would be to please let live shots with no one in it please take off the masks. Every time I'm hearing a masked live shot it sounds bad going into the mic.
  16. Shirleen is pregnant with her and her husband Jesse's 3rd child.
  17. Mike Marza's assignment to work weekend mornings with Michelle Charlesworth is official.
  18. Him, Doug Johnson, John Johnson & Geraldo Rivera based on the Newsday article.
  19. All across news, broadcasters tend to take their vacations in summer (really in August in many cases), even if it's just a week at a time.
  20. I guess no one should be surprised, but Tim Fleischer is finally retiring after 35 years at Eyewitness News. He is being celebrated at 5 pm tomorrow. I have attached the news article from Pittsburgh when he was hired away. Going to miss Tim. This basically has been his reporting staff for a long time.
  21. Rob went home today after recovering.
  22. I've been so busy I didn't see it. I hope he gets well quick. That's awful. Robb is probably one of the few anchors I wish had never left WABC in the first place. He always is cheerful on Twitter working for WHP. I hope he recovers.
  23. It was a mistake and Bill owned it. With all the talk of people dying from COVID 19, it's an understandable slipup. People aren't perfect.
