1. I'm not so sure there won't be a KDLT-style waiver attempted here for a duopoly. The article published by KVRR seems to imply such. https://www.kvrr.com/2021/11/30/red-river-broadcast-forum-communications-reach-purchase-agreement-for-fargo-duluth-tv-stations/
2. This is no longer an isolated incident. WTNH has also gotten a paywall set up on its live stream of local newscasts. https://www.wtnh.com/news-8-newscasts/
3. I see that to watch livestreams of WBRE/WYOU newscasts now, you have to login with a participating TV provider. So far, the only participating providers are four small local operations. Is Nexstar testing out restricting local station livestreams to pay TV subscribers or something? https://www.pahomepage.com/live-stream/
4. I find that part of the FTVLive article rather misleading. There are probably several markets where Fox News outrates ABC World News Tonight. Think about St. Louis, Memphis, New Orleans, Columbia SC, Providence, Des Moines, and all the small markets where the ABC affiliate is historically very weak.
5. Many of Tegna's NBC affiliates have aired an overnight rerun of Nightly News since 2015. Variety has been on this since the practice started. Below is a link to article from November mentioning how the evening network newscasts are spreading to non-traditional timeslots in an attempt to squeeze out higher ratings. https://variety.com/2019/tv/news/evening-news-tv-ratings-david-muir-lester-holt-norah-odonnell-1203400113/
6. WCCO recently posted to Facebook a reel of various reports done from Germany in the wake of the Berlin Wall coming down in 1989.
7. What he said in the "Dumbledore conversation" of Big Brother 13 was definitely not a good look for him and was probably the most controversial thing about that season.
8. FWIW, the reviews on ratemystation.com say WICS ranks last and WAND is first or second.
9. I used to be able to pick up KQDS with an antenna at my house until earlier this year when they shut down a low-power translator that had become isolated from the station's DMA. Their newscasts can be, shall we say, rough around the edges, but they have always been heavy on local content rather than a bunch of fluff from wire services. That local content is generally well done, too, since I'm pretty sure they don't do any MMJ type of stuff, and have a good group of photographers to pair with the revolving door of newbie reporters you get in this size of market, which across the board actually has stronger newscasts than you might expect. Quincy (KBJR) and Hubbard (WDIO) run decent news operations here too.
10. Turns out WPRI/WNAC does have some of their own people in Houston.
11. Nexstar's approach to Super Bowl reporting is actually the same as Sinclair's, except that Sinclair isn't making their guy use mic flags.
12. If you take into account translators, KTVX's OTA signal reaches into parts of southeast Idaho and southwest Wyoming. Those areas are also within the Salt Lake City DMA.
