There'd be lots of complaints if they interrupt Blue Bloods or Last Man Standing, even though they're reruns.
And that’s what we are going with for a network called NewsNation?

I am so mad. I don’t understand why you have a network named NewsNation which brags about the newsrooms you have across the country and be showing syndicated programming during one of the worst storms to hit LA. They literally have more reporters on the ground versus any network. Use them. Do affiliate coverage. Jesus. It’s not hard.This doesn’t help your cause.

NN couldn’t own the Afghanistan story because of their limited resources over seas. While the other networks are owning this, let them. NN move in and own Ida. Own it. Stay on the air, own it. You have the resources to even share live station coverage like HLN used to do did it.

I don’t understand the backwards thinking. NN has a TON more users on digital versus on TV. That’s been previously reported. That’s why they push out app alerts like crazy to try to push people to the Cable Channel (yawn). But it’s the same with local news. More people have their apps downloaded. Stop looking at this backwards. Stop promoting a newscast in a newscast to switch to another channel when the end user is just not going to. It’s only checking a checkmark for Perry. If Perry understood audience sizes he would make every local station app push to the new programming on NN and have a live stream embedded in apps just like CBSN or NBC NEWS NOW.
Data. Science. Work smarter. Not harder.

Who’s going to be the volunteer to watch the newscast and screen grab set photos? Lol

Omg does it matter? NO ONE is watching. Literally no one. This network is DOA.
1,000 people are watching it.
I think Perry is in denial. The digital team at NN kills it. They have a a lot of app downloads and a ton of traffic on their website. They believe it was from the cable channel touting these tools because they are so focused in on “tv”. In reality they just got lucky in the SEO world and no one is giving the digital team credit. When you go to the App Store and type in News … well, NN pops up because their name is… News. The Sr Management just think the ratings is incorrect because how could their digital being doing so well but tv not doing so well… welcome to 2021. Same reason NewsBreak has so many downloads and makes good money in the programmatic space yet they are only an aggregator.

How have the ratings been with the new lineup?

I worked with VDO a lot on multiple station projects. Miss Diane. Do you remember her? What happened to her?

VDO - They did the original 2000 WFLA package that was later adapted to the Media General stations before the Giant Octopus one they originated for HD. They also did the 1999 "News Center" package for WSYX and WTTE.
Later they did some of the former Emmis stations including the 2003 packages for WVUE and WALA.
I really enjoyed VDO. Dianne Streyer.

Incorrect information. But yes, Blake is still there. He’s the creator of their look, sets and news operations. He’s done a great job making sure local is consistent in messaging and not looking like Tegna, Gray or Sinclair with their very copy/paste approach.

Wow. That was quick.

I am a democrat and I have always told my other friends who hate on Fox about their journalism and how they can turn it on when they really need to. Example, they called the Election before anyone else did. Yes, the political director was kicked out of the building for telling the truth. But anyway, yes, they do have the chops for a big news story but now with every story having some intertwined political side, they lost their way. So no. It’s not news.

This has to be for an OTT program. NBC is stacked with really good talent right now. The increase is puzzling but could be to align to the new reality with OTT programming.

It should be noted that the Scripps/Katz networks and ION are all genre channels:
Newsy -> all-news, no frillsGrit -> westerns
Laff -> sitcoms
Bounce -> African American-focused
Court TV -> trial coverage and analysis
Court TV Mystery -> reality crime
ION -> procedurals/drama
Doozy -> the “true reality” A&E library
Defy -> the “true reality” History library
The purchase of ION Media was for the OTA clearances (and with Inyo as a de facto shell for Scripps without the need for SSAs/JSAs). ION is destined to become the flagship Scripps/Katz brand, assuredly with more acquired rerun programming and less reliance on day-long marathons of the same shows, but the genre won’t change.
Most Insightful post of the week. Thanks.
