  1. I'll chime in here since I'm one of the game show content uploaders here in this forum. I've seen other YouTubers that have uploaded Sony content and here's the thing about Sony: Sony is definitely relaxed if you were to say upload things like say the ending credits, intros things like that you can probably get away with saying the name of the game show without any issues and they for the most part never had any issues with uploading smaller type stuff, they did block them occaisionally but most of the time they blocked the more recent stuff. When it comes to uploading full episodes of Sony game shows mentioning the name of the show in the title and/or description is the quickest way of getting your channel terminated, by the same token doing things like what Sam Mitchell does with his "Mitchell Game Show Theater" and the late David Downs (R.I.P) did with "Fan Favorites" you'll notice the majority of them are all Sony stuff and overall what I've noticed is that if you were to occaisionally upload full episodes of Sony stuff, odds are you'd be fine, however uploading too many Sony Game Show episodes is asking for the channel to be taken down, in fact I might make an effort to at least make 1 or 2 uploads of Sony shows on my own channel and that would be it because I certainly don't want mine to be terminated for the things I just mentioned above.
  2. The way it looks and from this quote it sounds like they also have obtained the rights to broadcast games to the majority of their teams they currently have linear rights to on their DTC Platform Based on that I would say at least initally depending upon the RSN it'd only be used if there's like 3 or more games happening at the same time so that's one of the things those Bally Sports Extra overflow channels can be used for, beyond that I also see in certain cases where it's arranged to match the arrangement the Yankees has between Amazon and WPIX except it'd be exclusive to Sinclair and (depending upon the market) one other owner if its on an RSN that doesn't share common ownership with an existing Sinclair station. We'll see what happens but it looks like live games will be made available to their DTC platform to the majority of the clubs they already have linear rights to.
  3. It's definitely true, it's definitely common unfortunately across the industry which is a shame and I'm glad to see that get exposed. As far as WTSP is concerned you might even be able to trace this back to 1989 when they had the Spy Scandal. I firmly believe along with everyone else that Tegna is in trouble, we just don't know how deep in trouble they're in and we'll ultimately know more once the investigation gets completed. However, the reason why I say it'll be interesting is because Tegna has proven (when you look at the statement Soo Kim made) that Tegna hasn't been willing to give them much effort into doing their independent investigation into the matter and in fact all Tegna did was made Standard General sign the NDA, Kim refused to do so and they decided to hire Quest Research and Investigations to launch this investigation. The more I've read into that report the more I believe that because Tegna doesn't want to change what they've been doing to its stations for the past several years, Kim and Standard General sees flaws and things that Tegna isn't seeing that they think its doing fine at and I firmly believe that Kim and Standard General is using the CBS controversies as a tool to break Tegna up. I believe they have an agenda more so than just generating noise to get board represenation even though I do believe that those 2 factors are the reason why we're seeing those things come out on Tegna and Kim's agenda is to destroy Tegna by breaking up the company and sending its stations to individual groups because I clearly think that Kim just simply can't get a piece of Tegna by just getting board representation, he tried that last year and it failed so that's why he's resorting to allowing the CBS controversies to happen so that he can use that to his advantage by doing what he is doing and the absolute bottom line is.. Standard General has an agenda and they do not give a hoot about what Tegna thinks. This is why I think it'll be interesting to see what Tegna has to say about Kim calling Quest Research and Investigations to launch an independent investigation into Tegna itself. https://www.questinvestigates.com/ that's the link to QRI for those who are wondering who they are.
  4. What's going to be really interesting is how Tegna itself reacts to this. By Kim making this move that just opened up a can of worms for both sides. We'll just have to see what happens with this one.
  5. Follow up: Standard General is now launching an independent investigation into the racism allegations, PDF of the investigation which is redacted
  6. NHL/NBA you might be able to make it work. MLB I'm just not sure if that's even doable. The only way that works is by making it DTC with a minimum amount of games sublicensed to the local stations (maybe on weekends or on a occaisional weekday afternoon in the summer when all of the syndie shows are done for their seasons or something like that)
  7. This part of the article perked my interest The question mark is going to be how can you make that work without pissing off the big 4 networks or the CW?
  8. That I do agree, I also see the streamming bubble bursting at some point. In fact, I'm very concerned that sports in general may have been caught up in all of the streaming craze while local teams are still rely on a dying model (cable) via the RSNs.
  9. Well whether you want to admit it or not, the leagues will eventually face irrelevance to the younger generation if they don't get away from the outdated model (and that is cable) and it won't be because of anything else, it will be because they didn't do their part to adapt with the direction the younger people are going. Not a lot people are watching linear TV very much these days, especially in the younger generation.
  10. Well it seems like MLB wants to do is charge customers is about that figure. If they charge 30-40 or more then I might as well pay for mlb.tv
  11. Yep and if DirecTV and other cable providers don't want to allow us the fans to pay for it then they can go bye-bye. I'm afraid that sports not named the NFL will become irrelevant by the end of the decade unless things change and change fast. People are abandoning cable at a much faster rate now and it's time for cable and satellitte companies to finally allow the teams and the leagues to stay relevant to the next generation of consumers.
  12. That's my concern too. DirecTV and maybe other smaller cable companies could very well sue MLB and other leagues as well because of this.
  13. And in an interesting twist, now MLB wants to take all of its RSNs DTC This should be interesting
  14. Porsha Riley has resigned from KOCO over race-related incidents.
  15. Another thing to keep in mind too is this: Basically if I'm reading it right and I've been trying to Google this up to do my homework on the part in which is bolded basically Standard General can take Tegna to court for failure to supply the documents if that's what I'm understanding it correctly.
  16. And that's a huge difference between it and the CBS scandal. Yes the problems are similar but CBS didn't have the pressure from a Soo Kim-like investor to say/do something about that Tegna has. I think some of the shareholders who voted Tegna last year might be inclined to vote for Standard General this time around.
  17. I figured that B&C would cover it, I also notice the Hill is covering it too. So yeah, I have a feeling that given the scope of it we might consider needing to split it into its own thread. The more I look into this, the more I see it as a very bad look on Tegna. We'll probably be talking about this for quite awhile.
  18. Ouch might be an understatment. Once TVNewsCheck, B&C and everyone else starts picking up on the story. Watch out.
  19. Here's a good collumn made by the SBJ about the future of the BSNs https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Journal/Issues/2021/04/05/Portfolio/Media.aspx?error=Login+Failed Sinclair is going to have a ton of negotiating to do beginning with the Clippers, Pelicans and Predators all have rights coming up plus the out of market agreements with the NBA and the NHL expires after this season. A lot of negotiating ahead and I'm sure the leagues and the teams are definitely going to hit home to Sinclair about getting them back on the streammers + Dish.
  20. There's just so much that I need to analyze on that article it'll be a long one so please bear with me on this one: That is likely where I see the Bally Sports Extra channels ultimately being used for eventually. Keep the traditional broadcast on the main and then those that want to watch the game from a sports betting perspective can watch it on the Extra channel. I'm a huge fan of this idea, this is a very good way of attracting new younger fans. Both the sports betting aspect of it and this Hockey University concept is a good way of doing that. I believe this is the approach that I'm sure Sinclair is doing right now even with the SportsCenter-esque show that @Georgie56has been mentioning so much of. I think Sinclair really wants to try to finish what Fox tried to start in the late 90s and (ultimately) make it work when it does launch its OTT/DTC service Also I have a feeling Georgie is correct on 2 key fronts: I have a feeling Sinclair really wants to carve out its own niche in a way. I don't see so much of Sinclair trying to compete with ESPN as much as I see Sinclair carving out its own niche in an area of this SportsCenter-style show. One of the advantages Sinclair has is (in addition to the RSNs and Stadium) is the local stations. Sinclair can tap into the local stations for major sports stories as well and in a way that's a huge advantage over SportsCenter right there because you don't see SportsCenter doing anything like that at all not even with its ABC O&Os. They might use the O&Os for like during player/coach interview segments and certain other things but that's pretty much it. This is pretty much consistent with what Bally Sports North is doing by putting some T-Wolves games on WUCW, In fact I wouldn't be surprised to see certain shows actually replace syndicated programming down the road. Again. There's your big hint right there that one of the many shows Sinclair is in the process of developing is a SportsCenter-style show. I think to summarize up all of the points is, I hope Sinclair is learning from the mistakes Fox made. But I'm sure Sinclair also understands they can't be running the same type of programs Fox had been running in the later years which I believe is one of the many reasons why the streammers and Dish has been balking at the RSNs. The RSNs charge way too much for programming that (outside of live sports and the pre/post shows) are garbage..That might be what gets the RSNs back on at least the streammers eventually. Dish on the other hand might be a lost cause though. It'll be an interesting 12 months for Sinclair.
  21. This is probably the Brewers crew as I don't think RSN announcers are still allowed to travel with the teams on the road as of yet.
  22. I also found out that KTXA is carrying a few Stars and Mavs games in April and May. While KMYS is carrying some Spurs games too. As I said on Discord last night, I see OTA stations (not just Sinclair stations) being involved more so with the coverage of sporting events potentially making subfeed channels (e.g. Bally Sports Kansas City completely pointless). In fact I would not be shocked to see OTA and their upcoming DTC service ultimately replacing the traditional RSN platform which will likely force many of the contracts to have to be renegotiated.
  23. You're on the right track. The way I'm interpreting it from the articles I've read (and I've read those articles more than once) its sort of a mix between the games being broadcasted in markets in which the teams are represented (OTA) and on cable/apps for those outside of the market. In other words those within the Minneapolis-St. Paul DMA will see whatever games go on the Extra channel shown on WUCW, while those outside of WUCW's coverage area will have games exclusively carried on either DirecTV, certain cable providers and/or exclusively on the Bally Sports app.
  24. Hate to bump up a stagnant thread but.. some interesting tidbits from some of the Bally RSNs namely, Bally Sports North and Arizona. Sinclair is apparently going to be launching a 3rd channel known as Bally Sports Extra, which would serve as a multipurpose channel for at least initially, conflicts of at least 2 or more games. Depending upon the situation it'd be a mix of either or both OTA (within the market) as well as on services such as DirecTV (outside of the market) and on the Bally Sports apps for non-DTV customers that still gets the Bally RSNs. In the case of Bally Sports North, WUCW will be carrying the T-Wolves games on 4/3, 4/16, 4/26, 5/5 and 5/7 https://www.foxsports.com/north/story/bally-sports-north-tripleheader-channels-minnesota-wild-wolves-twins-032621 And in the case of Bally Sports Arizona, some D-Backs games are going on Bally Sports Arizona Extra, on both Cox and DirecTV https://www.foxsports.com/arizona/story/bally-sports-arizona-announces-arizona-diamondbacks-2021-regular-season-schedule-032421 This part though I believe its the most interesting part 2 things that jump to my mind right away when I see that piece of the article. It's either a sign that Sinclair is about to strike a deal with someone in the Phoenix area to carry the games or a negotiating plot to get the RSNs back on certain services. If I were a betting person I would say its the former.
