1. Probably time to pull the plug on so many of the changes they have made in recent years. It is time (and has been time for awhile) to send WCCO back and put some Philly back into our news. Jim & Rahel need to go and Ukee is much better in the morning than as the evening anchor. Ukee is great - Ukee is Philly - but he doesn't live up to the "Camelot years" heritage of this once great station. Simply put - I want my KYW back.

3. I have previously expressed my feelings on the unique tone that 69News commentary takes. Mr. Dean has every right to express his opinion on his station - as does Sinclair on their stations (I only wish Sinclair had expressed their opinion themselves and not forced their employees to do it for them - that's another story for another time). What gets my goat today is the the WFMZ.com Commentary Survey at the very bottom of the webpage. If you really want to poll the opinion of your viewers why slant the only 2 possible answers instead of giving the choice of two valid opinions or simply making the poll agree/disagree with the stated commentary. WFMZ / Mr. Dean - if you don't care about our opinion - why bother asking?? For example: Commentary Survey: On-Air Commentary Appears at 10:27PM, Weeknights Some say that Senator Chuck Schumer would have done whatever he could to deny the confirmation of Mike Pompeo as Secretary of State. Senator Schumer worked to bottle up the vote for Pompeo, who helped set up the President's talks with Kim, to save world peace. - 89% Schumer was within his rights to keep Trump from having a victory with North Korea's Kim Jong Un. - 11%
4. Glad to see WFMZ standing behind Ed while he deals with his personal challenges. One of the strengths at WFMZ is it's commitment to their team - the Family Minded Zone seems to be much more than just a tagline for this Christian-based broadcast group. Wondering how DaVinci is handling Ed's absence from WFMZ's Accu-Weather school program.
5. I think Joy & Jaciel could work - if given the time to build their on-air rapport. As for Dan - previously Troy and even the short-lived Bryan (now at Sands owner Sheldon Adelson's Las Vegas Review-Journal) usually had Berks sports handled from the Berks newsroom, so that's pretty much status quo.
6. I agree with you on Sarah's reporting talent. But she is "cold" to watch as an anchor. I can't imagine her socializing on the 4pm show.
7. MSNBC Contributor James Peterson - next one to fall... Lehigh professor resigns amid sexual misconduct allegations Jacqueline Palochko Of The Morning Call A Lehigh University faculty member has resigned amid an investigation that eventually found “sufficient cause” of sexual misconduct, according to a university email from the provost’s office. The faculty member was identified as James Braxton Peterson, according to an email to faculty and staff sent today. According to the email viewed by The Morning Call, Lehigh was made aware of allegations and other misconduct against Peterson on Nov. 7. He was placed on leave and not permitted on campus, the email said. An investigation by the university showed allegations of misconduct were made by “multiple individuals against Dr. Peterson,” according to the email. After receiving the reports but prior to provost Patrick Farrell’s formal decision, Peterson informed the university he was unconditionally resigning his position immediately, the email said. While Peterson’s resignation made disciplinary action moot, the email says Farrell, following his own review of the investigative findings, determined there was sufficient cause to initiate the process that could result in revocation of tenure and termination of employment. 8. Think we will ever get to see the new studio?!?!?
9. Napoli Management announced the following: Amanda VanAllen moves to WEWS in Cleveland as a reporter. She leaves WFMZ in Allentown. Catherine Hawley makes the jump to market 11 as a general assignment reporter for WTVT in Tampa. Previously, she was a general assignment reporter at WMAR in Baltimore. Meanwhile, a final farewell message from another great WFMZ alum - Chandi Lowry posted the following: Thanks for the kind words about my future in Pittsburgh! Keep in touch! Look for me on social media as Chandi Chapman very soon. @69News Great to see our WFMZ team succeed!! As always, hate to see them leave us.
10. So much for that. Another of the good ones leaves us again. The hopes of a Will/Chandi anchor team were not meant to be. At least she gets to go home and start a family - guess we can't complain too much. BEST WISHES Chandi!!! We will miss you.
11. WFMZ posted this image to facebook on Friday - looks like it might be a while. New Studio Construction 2017 | 69News WFMZ-TV Our old studio set is being dismantled to make room for the new one. Each day the new set becomes closer to completion. We can't wait to show it to you! https://www.facebook.com/pg/69WFMZ/photos/?tab=album&album_id=10159173174150557
12. Saw them together tonight, as well. They work well together. I am wondering if it is just another part of getting ready for the makeover of the main studio. Also, note they moved the weekend shows to PPL as well instead of the mini-set they had been using. Additionally, with 6abc's expansion of weekend news programming they may also be trying to compete stronger with a full news team on the weekends.
13. MSNBC really has done a superb job with Irma coverage. Considering how limited they usually are with "live" programming on the weekends, they really did pull together a stellar crew of name-brand journalists during all hours of the day and even overnight. KUDOS to all involved, especially those in harm's way!! A stellar news performance - truly showcasing the "news" side not just the "opinion" side of this much-improved cable news network.
14. Who would have even pictured KJWP's Larry Mendte being part of Dick Dean's Family Minded Zone? Strange bedfellows, as they say.
15. I was wondering the same thing - looked like they saved a few pieces of the old set. Could have been the old weather desk?
16. iHeartMedia Country “KJ 97” 97.3 KAJA San Antonio and Classic Country “92.5/93.3 The Bull” KRPT Devine/K227BH San Antonio TX has appointed Kyle Due as Program Director. Kyle Due comes to San Antonio from Allentown PA where he programmed Rock 95.1 WZZO and CHR “B104” 104.1 WAEB-FM. He also hosted afternoons at WAEB-FM as ‘Kyle Anthony’. Due has also worked for iHeartMedia in Charlotte, Chattanooga, Greensboro, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Winchester VA using the on-air name ‘JoJo’. He fills the San Antonio opening created by Travis Moon’s exit in May as Director of Country programming for Austin and San Antonio.
17. They were not only on top of their game today - but way ahead of the curve with a live shot from Philly with Jamie Stover at the Federal Courthouse. GREAT JOB !!!
18. Jacqueline Thomas farewell and continued studio construction.
19. Another great shot tweeted by John Hayden - Matt and his flip-flops...
20. @LDueWFMZ & @Steve_Mittman working hard in the temporary weather/traffic center while renovations in the studio... as tweeted by John Hayden, WFMZ Senior Floor Director. That explains the unique weather lighting.
21. Never saw the "construction site" on-air. They do seem to be using a lot more tight shots and that bird's eye hand-off from son to father @ the end of the 4pm is gone. I do agree - they need an update. This set is huge considering the market size, but as WFMZ has done in the past - small cosmetic tweaks can surely extend the life of their sets. This time some updated video walls, instead of those rear-projection screens and replacing that horrible faux-wood paneling would go a long way.
22. Glenn ‘Hurricane’ Schwartz No Longer Chief In Philadelphia http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/glenn-hurricane-schwartz-no-longer-chief-in-philadelphia/192047
23. Has anyone heard what is being done to the WFMZ studio? In addition to this from Eve Russo's facebook, there were recent changes to the traffic office (which is on that upper level) and new lighting for weather. Just curious what other improvements their massive studio may be getting.
24. If that is the case, and I hope it is, then why not have Tammie and Glenn announce it together - instead of this under the "radar" switch. Just seems odd, even for WCAU.
25. It is funny when rumors of Sheena taking Glenn's job had everyone crazed - but now that Tammie has actually done it - nobody cares. Odd. Was it just something about Sheena? or am I missing something here?
