  1. Failed Marketing Idea??? Or Al Primo's guest bath?
  2. They probably want to start out small and see what the reaction is from the local businesses that will be courted for ads, and to sponsor segments. You can always expand the (lifestyle) show if it takes off....and knock the news back to 5 minutes at the top of the show. It's all about selling the lifestyle portion of the show.
  3. A little info on the Carlos and Lisa show on KDOC-TV-56... https://tvnewscheck.com/article/top-news/236194/anchors-launch-online-broadcast-news-platform/
  4. A good part of the "Sam Demo" also spends weekends in Miami, Bahamas, Hamptons etc... Frolicking in the surf...and hitting the clubs at night. (don't make me dig out more speedo pics) Certainly NOT unusual behavior of a New Yorker by any means. I'm sure plenty of Sam's regular viewers say to themselves... " I wonder if we will see Sam this weekend at..." ...TWIST, Back Door Miami, Azucar NightClub, Jamboree Lounge, Palace Bar, SheLife Events, Club Boi, The Hub at the LGBT Visitor Center, Beach Betty's Bar, J's Bar .... ...and any one of those clubs would love to be able to claim Sam as a "regular" because that brings in more guest...and that "Sam Demo" has plenty of disposable income to party with. WABC and Sam would be total fools NOT to exploit that in some fashion as there are plenty of New Yorkers in SoFla most the year.
  5. I wonder why she didn't get a big send-off like Carlos got... And WTF is going on with Ruberti she looks like she is just ghost posting on twitter and FB just to preserve her brand. I think it looks kinda sad. Big purges like this can only mean one or two things... Could we be coming to "that point"....where the big guy gets dementia...and JR. starts making the daily decisions including....... To be continued...
  6. Well you don't have to be mean about it. She may be a bit older...but she can still plow a good sized field, carry 10 sacks of corn flour, and still pull a wagon to the mill. And the viewers still like her.
  7. "Scanner Bud" in San Diego reports that Sandra Maas is gone from KUSI-51. Bud also reports that "Assignment Desk Les( Lester)" is gone from KFMB-TV-8 after 20 years on the night side assignment desk.
  8. Let's all understand something about TV... When you go on the air and trash your employer, it's policies or practices ...EXPECT a bad outcome. You may not agree, but they sign your paycheck. If viewers want to revolt that's fine. But, don't expect some judge to entertain a wrongful termination suit based on publicly trashing your employer, while on their dime, and using their toys. And you wonder why stations won't let most on-air employees say "good bye" when the contract ends? I wish him luck...but if you come on my TV station and trash my station or programs you can expect to see the door...and maybe a boot up your ass. ...and once you pull some stunt like that , the station management of other stations won't trust you on-air...no matter how popular you were at you last gig.
  9. KGTV 1993 Classic KGTV Midday edition with Jack White and Laura Buxton... Opening Day at Del Mar From The Jack White Collection
  10. Not sure what law you are referencing , but what if I had no news department or wx team and I preempt Zoobilee Zoo.... What would I be required to run or replace it with?
  11. Or... The developer/contractor/ designer of the project paid the freight for the trip. A paid press Junket if you will. Stations news departments used to have some pretty solid journalistic rules about such junkets and who paid for them. However with the erosion of journalistic rules (and skills) , it's easy for stations to accept all kinds of freebies or cross promotions that blurr the lines of objectivity. "Oh it's newsworthy because our local Congressman/ Mayor etc.. will be touring also." That's how they (Managing Editors, and ND's ) justify the trip to feel better in their own minds that it's gonna be a total ,"fluff piece". For Example... "The Disneyland/ Disney World WX Live Shots Back Home". Every station falls for this one... (but the viewers luv 'em) Your local station sends your weatherman to do a a wx live shot with Mickey, Goofy and friends....live from the Magic Kingdom. Disney provides the entire set-up....the camera ,sat-time, the photog, the field producer and even Mickey and a few princesses or animated fish. Disney puts you, and your kids and spouse into a free room and gives the kids free tickets while your local Weather-Schmoo fills 4 minutes in the C and F block of the newscast. !00% free promotion disguised as your local weathercast. It's even more fun during ratings when the park is filled with wx dudes and dudettes from all over the country doing shots back to home. Disney can handle a whole bunch of those shots...and have a million ways to feed all those shots. All you need to do is... (Insert Your Hometown WX man here)
  12. Here is your official TEGNA Breaking News graphic for your collection. Use it only for good...and never evil.
  13. No! Just because they had an internal "issue" with the graphic , are we are all to now assume they (WTVF) are now openly hostile to the LGBT community? Stop it...it's ridiculous to get outraged and offended over it. Cut them a break...not everyone is out to offend.
  14. Back By Popular Demand!!! N.B.G.... "The Vegas Residency" She's Back! N.B.G. and Gonzo are heading out to Vegas where Nancy will be the ND for KTNV-13. L.A. can't be too far away now...
  15. I will be paying close attention to "Halftime With Boris"... ...in case there are any wardrobe malfunctions.
  16. Yeah lol... After a good 12 years of "Stable KUSI" ...God only knows what the hell has happened inside. Somebody must be off the meds up in the front office...or else somebody at KUSI caught Tegna Flu and now wants to upend all the "good will" that was earned over the last decade or so. Go screw up your product...go piss-off those loyal viewers...I'm sure there is a "vision" in there somewhere. Just what is the"real" status of Paul Rudy? Is he a temp fill-in?...or was PPR just ripped out of his hands?
  17. This is just another ploy by Tegna to replace experienced anchors and reporters ... ...with their very own pets.
  18. Oh silly Weeters, The sales office is down the street in another building...
  19. I guess TNT is the only thing separating the left from the right. Does that mean TNT is "center"? Fox News (2,502,000) TNT (2,321,000) MSNBC (1,754,000) Everything now makes sense to me.
  20. I'm dying to know what the operating expenses are and what the payroll is. Seriously... You can pretty much assemble the whole operation with computers and broadcast electronics available from Fry's and the Markertek catalog. You really don't need a whole lot of special stuff anymore to become a 24/7 live broadcaster. They ( The Jr. NewsRangers) only need to subscribe to APTV and Reuters TV for video feeds and all the rest is just pushing data from one platform to another. Nobody cares anymore about video quality...so compress all you want...and watch the pixies fly! I will watch it, if it comes to Surfridge...we get all kinds of fun OTA stuff here including one channel that has a gajillion Vietnamese sub-channels...and another of just re-runs of "CHIPS". News "start-ups" a a blast to watch...I hope those kids are having fun.
  21. Maybe she will get adopted by a nice forever family who will love her and treat her well. Remember the good times... I'm sure she will miss all of you, and she will always remember all the fun times...and cold pizza on elex nite.
  22. Yeah... As in the "Action News Pee" streaming down my leg cuz we won't ever get a break from anchoring...
  23. With only 755,000 total prime time viewers, CNN averaged 184,000 demo viewers, which is down 36 percent from the comparable last week. CNN also fell 12 percent in total viewers compared to the same time last year. The top ten cable networks for most prime time viewers are as follows: Fox News (2,502,000) TNT (2,321,000) MSNBC (1,754,000) ESPN (1,579,000) HGTV (1,205,000) A&E (1,170,000) NBCSN (1,136,000) USA (1,040,000) History (1,015,000) TBS (1,015,000) Source Nielsen Research 2019
  24. HLN still has some dignity left...and often beats the mother ship in ratings in many dayparts. HLN is the "escape pod" of CNN.
  25. ...and when that box fails after the power supply gets zapped during a lightning storm... "One Box Solutions" are a bad idea unless you want to be a slave to "the box".
