Who is highest rated in the market?

I read in a recent article that KVVU and KTNV are fighting it out for the top dog in the market. Whoever doesn't get it ends up a strong second. KLAS is third and KSNV is just in a dog pile stinking fourth.

I thought WSVN was extreme then I saw KTLA. At least KTLA's morning product is infotainment. WSVN has a straight hard newscast in the morning time. if they can pull off Deco Drive for this long I'm sure they can try their hand at "Good Day Miami".

I wanna puke just hearing that... Good Day Miami.

Thank god its morning news is Today in Florida (which dates back to their NBC days).

I've seen a commercial on WILX TV  the Gray Television NBC Lansing  station where it looks as if their 4pm show "STUDIO10" is about to be shown the door and daytime replays of Jeopardy and Wheel will take over at 4 starting in September when NBCNews Daily debuts at 1 any confirms

This article says otherwise saying it will return later this year. Also, WILX has Funny You Should Ask. That'll probably air since Wheel doesn't do second-runs.

IMO thats the issue, more news. I'm not sure how high quality of a new product NBC News Daily will be if we use the Today Show and Nightly News as a barometer, not to mention MSNBC. Its probably going to be more of the same, COVID, Climate Change, Ukraine, Jan 6th/Trump, and Inflation, viral video, wash-rinse-repeat.

Plus, I think the pessimism stems from the fact that daytime television is now beoming a vat of  stale repetitive talkshows,  and local news overload.  As bad as soaps have become people still like the idea that  a bit of traditional comfort viewing remained in daytime.

If you think this is bad, WBBH NBC 2 in Ft Myers, FL barely has a daytime lineup outside of news. The only thing keeping them from a 7 PM newscast is Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!

    That whole market is crazy.

    WBBH is 4:30-7:00am, 11:00am-1:00pm, 3:00-6:30 and 11:00-11:35pm.

    WINK is 4:30-7:00am, 12:00-12:30pm, 3:00-6:30, 7:00-7:30 and 11:00-11:35pm. It also does 7:00-11:00am, 6:30-7:00 and 10:00-11:00pm for WXCW.

    WZVN is 4:30-7:00, 9:00-11:00am, 6:00-6:30, 7:00-7:30 and 11:00-11:35pm.

    WFTX is 6:00-11:00am, 5:00-7:00 and 10:00-11:30pm.

Yes... there are THREE 10:00am local morning newscasts in Southwest Florida. If you don't count for cable-only options in Tampa Bay and Orlando, there are none everywhere else in the state of Florida, including my own home market (Miami).

Actually, it’s really 14.5 hours, as this News block currently begins at 4:30am.

NO. It has been more than a decade now that WSMV has LONGGGG started bright and early at 4AM.

EDIT: As a matter of fact, everybody in Nashville that airs local news starts at 4AM.

MSNBC is making some changes to its streaming service, The MSNBC Hub on Peacock. Effective September 15th, Zerlina Maxwell and Ayman Mohyeldin will no longer be hosting shows on the streaming service, Zerlina has been offered an "analyst" role and Ayman will continue to host his show on the weekends. This is the first time MSNBC has canceled a show on its relatively new streaming service.

Speaking of weekends... MSNBC is seeing some of the worst weekend ratings since 1998, this started last year and it isn't getting better. Makes me wonder if a bigger change could be coming to the weekends. Go back several pages on this forum and you'll see how much weekends have changed in recent years.

Seems like more opinion & less news isn't working out that well and maybe Kendis Gibson, David Gura, Thomas Roberts & Kasie Hunt (honorable mention of Jacob Soboroff & Richard Lui) weren't as replaceable as the network thought they were.....

More details on the changes here: https://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/msnbc-ends-peacock-shows-hosted-by-zerlina-maxwell-and-ayman-mohyeldin/512379/

Should've stuck with more news, less opinion, but no. They decided to go the opposite way and guess what? Its now costed them ratings BIG time.

I think its them? I'm not too confident on that because there's been so many changes in the market over the past 5-10 years that its hard to keep up.

Don't quote me on that because I'm not too confident about Vegas TV ratings.

KVVU in Las Vegas is adding a 7pm half-hour newscast beginning today. Their afternoon news block now consists of 1-2pm, and then 3pm to 7:30pm. The new 7pm newscast bumps Extra back to midnight.

    Its not a surprise.

    One, its Vegas.

Two, Gray is converting KVVU into what KSNV wanted to do under Jim Rogers.

So now, its 4-10am, 1-2pm, 3-7:30pm and 10pm-12am. That's 13 and a half hours if your keeping score at home, LONG and away THE most hours of produced local news hours in Southern Nevada.

I recorded the open and close to the first 7:00 p.m. newscast from that night:

I feel like FOX views FWX as their version of the big 3's streaming news outlets. The news market was saturated (and they already launched FOX Nation), so this is their entry into the FAST realm. Their spots on the streamers have been firmly established, so now they can work on getting their way onto cable lineups.

Actually, they got into the FAST realm before FOX Weather. Its called LiveNOW from FOX.

Here in Topeka, the NBC, ABC and Fox stations (as well as the CW Plus) are all owned/managed by Nexstar. Not too many changes, according to the schedule I saw:

KSNT (NBC): Jennifer Hudson replaces Good Dish at 1p; the Jeopardy rerun (sister station KTKA has the original at ) at 4 and a new 4:30 news replaces Ellen.

KTKA (ABC): Pictionary x2 replaces The Doctors at 2; a Feud rerun replaces one Judge Judy at 4:30 (meaning it's Feud-Feud-Judy-Feud from 3-5). It's also returning ABC News to 5:30 and simulcasting the KSNT 6p cast (It had run a separate 5:30p news with ABC at 6).

KTMJ (Fox): Another Feud replaces the J! rerun at 6a; Sherrie replaces Wendy at noon; Neighborhood replaces second Young Sheldon run at 11p. Fox 43's 9p news expanded to an hour in the past few weeks.

The programming department sent along the CW schedule, labeled Fall 2022, but nothing had changed. Any word on the CW Plus fall sked?

When does the new 4:30pm news begin and when does the 6pm simulcast begin?

  10. @Spring Rubberand I are both huge watchers of FOX Weather ever since this channel came out.

Yes, I have noticed this as well. Is this the start of live 24/7 weather? I don't think so but the changes are really noticeable.

For now, the program guide on The Roku Channel still says the program names and the times it airs.

That seems to be the new trend emerging at the news-intensive stations that don't have to deal with network programming at the time.

WGN Chicago goes from 4am-1pm central.  Any other station exceed that time, locally?

Only 1 hour of that is devoted to lifestyle programming...Daytime Chicago, from 10-11.

Might be a good time filler on some former superstation of theirs, but alas....

    KTLA from 4am-2pm and that's all-news.

An update...the midday news will be at 11am-noon and Studio 10 will be 2 hours from 9-11am beginning on September 5th.

In other words... all local, all morning from 4:30am-12pm.

Effective today, America's Weather Weekend now runs until 2pm ET. Steve Bender and Kiyana Lewis anchor the 10am-2pm ET portion. One of them still stays afterward for an unknown amount of time to provide top and bottom of the hour updates during Fox Weather Live from 2pm ET onwards.

They have updated the corner graphic to reflect the new schedule.

    FoxWX_20220730-1.png

We both knew this was going to happen. We both knew it!

Now watch, this will be the start of an expansion to actual 24/7 live weather fox FOX Weather instead of just airing long-form programming on weekends or even FOX Weather LIVE taking up the majority of its time on weekends.

It might be the final nail in the coffin for the local on the 8s as we know it, but only time will tell.

It won't be. This is an isolated incident with a cable headend in Des Moines.

But it was very disturbing to see.
