  1. Their post game coverage with former Blackhawk Brent Sopel, Stafford, Rosati, and Adamle is just so uncomfortable and dry. It's hard to put the awkwardness into words.
  2. Well, it pretty much caught everyone off guard. WGN was also very, very messy for the first fifteen minutes of the 5:00 hour. I think they were all too focused on covering the Blackhawks, and not paying as much attention to the weather as they normally would. Thus, they were woefully unprepared to cover a major breaking weather story.
  3. WGN sure better be glad they've got Mike Janssen, who almost singlehandedly saved them from a complete disaster tonight. The tornado warning came out and Jim Ramsey was bumbling, and Mark and Micah were babbling, trying to carry the broadcast. They couldn't load any graphics, and for about fifteen minutes they only had a very wide view of the radar. Now, Mike and Jim are working together and it is so much better. Janssen has been excellent with providing storm reports, and now he's working the green screen while Jim sits at the anchor desk. From what I saw, ABC7 was just as ill-prepared during the tornado warning.
  4. FWIW, the sports segment wasn't cut out of the nine o'clock live stream tonight. I don't watch them online enough to know if that's a regular thing now. By the way, Demetrius filled in for Skilling. Starting to wonder if his days are numbered on the 4am shift. Seems like a good arrangement would be to have him handle all of midday, and be the primary backup for Skilling on the evening and 9pm shows.
  5. June 14. https://twitter.com/marcusleshock/status/606154267989286913 I'm hoping that this is a step in the right direction for CLTV. Perhaps this show and the new graphics/set/music that rolled out a couple of months ago mean that the new management might try to make the network a relevant, or at least somewhat respectable, news outlet in Chicago. It'd be nice to scale back those extremely dull looping newscasts that are updated like twice a day, and replace them with some LIVE, co-anchored broadcasts. WGN has the talent to do that, and they could schedule these newscasts at unconventional times that wouldn't encroach on channel 9's turf. Maybe 9-11AM, 1-4PM, 6:30-9, 10-midnight. What about adding some other locally-based talk shows? There's soooo much they could do with CLTV, but I'm not holding my breath.
  6. They did. It's on the recently updated iPhone app. Very two-dimensional and basic looking.
  7. The future of the WGN sports department? https://twitter.com/paytonsun/status/603645038095015936
  8. Here it is... Not all that exciting, really. Another item of interest in the video is the music they use at the beginning - pretty sure it's one of their new cuts. http://wgntv.com/2015/05/25/how-is-chicago-collecting-over-a-billion-in-unpaid-tickets-hint-its-not/
  9. Yeah, the score bug and L3s could use an update, but I still really like the openers and music.
  10. Per Robert Feder, WGN-TV is making changes in its sports department for the first time in forever; they're bringing in Jarrett Payton from WGN radio to host a sports talk show on CLTV Sundays-Thursdays. Not many details yet, but I'm sure we'll also see him filling in and reporting on channel 9. That CLTV show could be interesting.
  11. You never know what you can find on Youtube... I happened upon a video that led me to a news music website that has a sampling of the new "Chicago's very own" cuts that WGN is currently only using for openers. Even though the quality isn't too good and it's "watermarked," it's still pretty interesting. I wish they'd start using more of these cuts... I particularly like 0:20-0:40, 1:42-1:59, and 2:10-2:27. http://newsthemes.elementfx.com/index.php/chicagos-very-own/
  12. Yes. He was on this morning. They're going strong into the 10pm hour... I wonder how long WGN (and all the others) will be on tonight.
  13. They can start with not making him do the 4am tomorrow. Paul can handle it for a day; it's only fair. Demetrius is doing great tonight; I think he's starting to emerge as the heir apparent to Tom, even though he'll probably have to wait a while.
  14. Classic... @PaulKonrad: Note to @WGNTV. What the hell am I looking at? Looks like 6 banners...can't read any of them. Still awesome coverage http://t.co/BcrtMjvwQ2
  15. Pretty cool live stream from behind the scenes at the WGN weather center. Demetrius is working this evening... interesting. http://wgntv.com/2015/04/09/watch-demetrius-ivorys-live-weather-coverage/
  16. Episode number two of the Morning News telenovela is out, with some very interesting guest stars...
  17. Not looking good at 7pm... http://www.robertfeder.com/2015/03/27/the-u-finds-news-viewers-elusive/
  18. So, since Rob Elgas is gone and Rob Stafford is out this week, Stefan Holt is anchoring evenings. This has already led to some interesting on-air moments, because tonight he got to toss to his dad in New York for Nightly News. http://www.mediaite.com/tv/nbcs-lester-holt-shares-a-nice-on-air-moment-with-his-anchorman-son/
  19. I'd be willing to bet that the morning anchor spot at WBBM is something he's looking at.
  20. Basically, what we have here is ONE website with absolutely no journalistic credibility at all, that has the word "mockery" in its title, cited four unnamed sources that they claim were credible and "vetted." It was also reported in the article that Sharp had an affair with a teammate's wife, which seems highly implausible for a number of reasons. Oh, and the author of the article is identified only as "Windycityfan." But, thanks to Twitter, this person's "reporting" gets attention.
  21. Savannah is anchoring tonight. Lester is out because of a family emergency. Will it be audition week on Nightly News? http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2015/03/savannah-guthrie-to-fill-in-on-nbcs-nightly-203341.html#.VPS1M_-F9Vw.twitter
  22. I agree. It was kind of a bizarrely worded deflection, but I still really don't think there's anything to see here. This may damage her image a little bit, but I highly doubt that anything else will come of this.
  23. Here's what she posted this morning... "Some think they have the right to "write" just anything. Let me say this... RUMORS will never be truth. I feel bad for anyone who has had to go through a time when their world was interrupted because of hateful, negative words. Let's all remember, we WRITE our OWN stories! Nobody else can steal that pen away."
  24. And now Feder is reporting that Robin Robinson is in talks with WBBM. http://www.robertfeder.com/2015/02/25/will-cbs-2-say-back-to-you-robin-robinson/
