  1. I know KRON is practically a zombie, but KRON still does exist unless MG lets it go beforehand. I agree with Nexstar because I can't think of a TV deal with that much scale involved. The combined company would have nearly 100 news departments under their control, Sinclair even now doesn't even have 60. The whole thing reeks of a pending disaster.
  2. Nobody hasn't the moving of WLYH's programming onto WHP's .3 and WLYH going to Grit yet?
  3. I think Tribune knows this. IIRC they were planning on doing news in the early 2000s but the 9/11-related economic slowdown killed that and planned launches at WATL and then-WEWB. It is long, long, LONG overdue to launch though. I'm amazed that Tribune never entered a news share with anyone for that long, the market for a second 10:00 newscast in that market has been there for a long time.
  4. Semi-shocking news from Boston: Maria Stephanos to WCVB effective this Thursday. She will anchor the 7:00 and 11:00 newscasts as well as a planned 10:00 newscast on 5.2.
  5. Just Dayton (WDTN/WBDT for MG, WHIO for Cox).
  6. I think that speaks more to not moving KMPH over to their systems first. This is a side effect of having too many stations to feasibly operate in a timely manner to properly maintain them all. Sinclair, possibly on Granite's behalf, did reinstate morning/noon newscasts and a separate weather staff at WTVH though that might be more to make the station look better when that SSA ends and Granite inevitability sells.
  7. I wonder if the statewide 5:30 newscast will end up simulcasted on WHAG in due time. Currently WJAL relays it for the Eastern Panhandle and I would think that Nexstar might want their newscast on their station.
  8. I know there is the Real Salt Lake deal with KUTV. There are only three other MLS teams in Sinclair markets (Columbus, Portland, Seattle) and they seem content with their current deals.
  9. WTOP has used First News for many, many years for their top/bottom of hour ID's. Their intro going out of CBS's TOH cast is the otherwise forgotten News Central.
  10. Thirteen. Marquette too (Gray will have WLUC, Nexstar has WJMN).
  11. This is long, long overdue. The excuses Granite trotted out for freezing Utica out of CBS became old once Granite stopped marketing to Utica. I wonder if Heartland will be able to get an LPTV or two to help with the load.
  12. I swear someone called this about 18 months ago. Good luck.
  13. The "Powered by Fox 44" period was short lived. Remember, WFFF had news first by about four months and always has been senior partner in that relationship.
  14. Who then becomes ABC? And what happens to WMUR?
  15. ASN is taking over production of NESN's Hockey East package and will distribute many of the games outside New England. Noticably absent is the Beanpotthough it's awkward schedule on consecutive Mondays (and other assorted factors) could be why.
  16. UConn is there not necessairily out of want more than being stonewalled out of where they wanted to go. If they get an opening to bolt, UConn will. Is that really worth Sinclair using precious space towards 39% to take that risk? As it is WCTX airs ASN programming already so it isn't like Sinclair is needing clearance there.
  17. Hasn't he been a liability for some time just drifting from station to station? Prior to this he was at the FioS1 end of RNN.
  18. I think they'd evolve TTC into being a full-time ASN channel if anything.
  19. Given the commute patterns in DC, a 7:00 makes sense more than being the third station doing a 4:00.
  20. A 1996 extended new viewer promo/pitch tape for WRNN including clips from a 1995 newscast
  21. A friend from WATE says that he is headed to WKRN. Somehow, this is a good hire for WKRN since they're banking on getting WTVF viewers when Scripps inevitably shoot themselves in the foot there
  22. Does this mean Nexstar will finally have to invest in WIVT? It felt like they wanted WICZ in part so they could assume their news department.
  23. "Main anchor". What happens to Leon Harris? WBZ is totally screwed for a replacement when they have nobody ready to promote but foresight isn't their strong suit.
  24. IIRC his interest in MG came via the Young merger.
