  1. Doing it that way is only going to make it much, much worse. We'd probably be better off discussing each company in one thread. If we create a new thread for each little thing that happens, such as in your cleaning house example, then we'll only have a thousand threads again. Personally it seems better to have things compact enough that they stick in one thread. Doing it the other way is a bit unwieldy and hard to keep track of. If we discuss Sinclair in one thread and MG in another etc. that makes a hell of a lot more sense then a new thread for each little event at an individual station. What to do with things that don't warrant a thread but might be interesting as an aside but concern one station? These rules would also seem to go against what you said when the Sinclair general thread was created too...
  2. Nobody is sold on this Scripps strategy so don't feel alone. The List is basically a list of "take a look at this video thats gone viral online and other meaningless stuff we could list".
  3. See if you can spot the typos in this ticker: This is from Sunday Night - Monday morning as midnight struck. The 11pm News just finished and apparently the X-Games was supposed to start. It was exactly 12:00am when this went on, note the clock is 3 minutes slow at first.
  4. All the shots in the WXYZ version were Detroit so in that way they were the same, the VO here is awful but at least the letters fit and look right.
  5. Well, Fox 2 will probably lose some viewers... mostly to WXYZ and some to WDIV. Towers is a figure that is popular with middle aged and older women but not much else... He also hosts the morning show at Clear Channels AC station WNIC 100.3, apparently he will simply anchor the morning news (6-9am) and work remotely on his morning radio show from WJBK at the same time. (530-10am)
  6. I guess the new MC hub has a few bugs: They ran this on Sunday (2 days ago), the game isn't until Friday. It aired at 10pm no less...
  7. I'll keep them in mind when Yellowstone goes boom! That's pretty good, can you say in-joke since obviously the company is fake.
  8. WXYZ just changed out (maybe got rid of?) it's weather transition graphics: Old: New: Not sure why this change occured but it's been like this all day but the old one was used last night.
  9. It can't be much worse than anywhere else... Lots of traffic people are out of some nowhere broadcasting school too. Good luck... I guess. It's a lousy idea but at the same time... It's only traffic, that's not exactly journalism.
  10. That obvious and awkward cut is where the signature should start, they looped the track instead and this was the result. I have to believe there is a better way to get the same tune to continue if that's what they really wanted. That has always sounded extremely clumsy to me.
  11. That's a slower version of the main Inergy close and signature: It's a version I haven't heard yet. It seems few if any of the stations actually picked up and used the theme and signature, WEWS I know did. WXYZ uses the open/close theme but not the signature.
  12. WTXF FOX 29 PHILADELPHIA, you wrote BOSTON so that's why Thought it was the other station.
  13. We expect nothing but the best! Just kidding. In all seriousness I'm looking forward to see whatever you can get together
  14. WDIV does the same thing as WPXI except Wheel before Jeopardy.
  15. Apparently Graphics and some minor updates to an ancient set is as much as Disney wants to put into it, can you say "for sale"?
  16. She looks better than the circle-7 logo next to her...
  17. Maybe they'll try to loosen it up a bit, try to be more like WGN?
  18. That's pretty different. Maybe they will be changing out the morning show soon? It's good they are getting air time but it also seems like they get lots of it.
  19. I just looked at the forecast on their website, it's still fuzzy under his right arm. At first I couldn't see it against the county map but once he put his arm over the light green flood advisory icons it was glaringly obvious. Looks like it needs a few more tweaks. Edit: That was the 6pm version, they didn't upload the fun with clickers forecast.
  20. Is that city scape a row of TV's in the wall or ? I assume it'll change as needed.
  21. I figured I'd create a Scripps thread rather than keep sticking stuff in the old threads since it's got less and less to do with them as we move away from the Granite purchase etc. This thread is for rational general discussion about Scripps. Please try not to rant. Remember that you're encouraged to create a new thread for "big" events (i.e. Scripps purchasing another station group). I'm gonna start this out by saying that Today (8/4) WXYZ is going to begin airing it's 2 hour morning show, 7-9am on WMYD with "a side of Action News you haven't seen before". What that basically means is that the 8am hour is going to be lighter. They are also promoting how it'll be live and local. Same talent as the 430-7 block on WXYZ: Vic Faust, Alicia Smith, Keenan Smith and Rachel McCrary for 4 and a half hours straight now.
  22. They would probably stand to have a desk and duratran put in, I suppose if it's that minor plus some wallpaper it would take a weekend. They'd put the shades or whatever they use down one would think. But since it's new lighting, maybe it'll be lit better?
  23. Depends on the problem (if there's one). You think they could get a refresh together that fast?
  24. Gotcha, I thought that looked awfully familiar. We had a lighting problem at WXYZ that caused the main desk to be out of service for 3 and a half days in April. It actually ended up looking better. Luckily that set has a secondary anchor area so nobody had to relocate in the building. The street side studio is so small I don't think there would be room for a setup like that though at WLS. Part of me is hoping for an modern Eyewitness News themed set and not a lighting problem. I am guessing it's the latter though.
  25. I like the huge circle-7 behind Ron, it's a decent looking if dated set. How old is that backdrop and the space anyways?
