  1. Feder is going subscription only on Tuesday, that sucks. It's cool they are getting the auto-show back even if a lot of what ABC7 does is sanitized, it's news operation is fairly sterile and safe to be honest. That extends beyond just the auto show.
  2. That desk still doesn't look right for some reason, maybe it's too small... not that there isn't acres of empty floor in there.
  3. Ok that makes sense, I see it now. Thanks for posting the pic. Now I just gotta remember that
  4. Silly question, but I wasn't around to see it... Did ABC 7 ever have a desk that resembled that in regular use? I know we said the duratran was 2003 or maybe a little older... One thing I realized while catching up on some of the I-Team stuff yesterday: In the State street studio refresh they inexplicably left the panels that say ABC7 News alone so it doesn't really match anything. It looks odd. I wonder if they will get a fully new set sometime in the next 1-2 years?
  5. It may not be unfair but it is boring as hell. Chicago is like that, New York is like that and apparently Philly is like that. I assume LA isn't much different. Competition is more fun. Seeing articles every sweeps about WPVI, WABC, KABC and WLS winning everything or nearly everything gets old. I'm glad Detroit isn't like that at least because we only have 3 stations and not 4 so it's an actual competition and there aren't three stations splintering the remaining numbers while 1 station wins all the marbles.
  6. The slow exodus continues... She was never my favorite but 42 years is still a long time.
  7. No word yet, if I get anything I'll post but we may have wait until November. Not a single ad so it couldn't have been much. The show is done from the newsroom with a freely moving camera that goes in and out so it kinda makes people seasick from what I've heard. Why they don't just use a normal fixed camera I have no clue.
  8. The Now Detroit was 100% local for it's debut today, it was pretty much 7 Action News At 4 with a different name and look. Let's hope they keep it that way, it was well executed.
  9. WXYZ has it's new Sunday morning lineup beginning 9/7: 9am: This Week (Formerly 10am) 10am: Spotlight On The News (Local public affairs program, formerly 930am) 1030am: 7 Sports Cave (College Football focus, formerly 11am-12pm, began 8/31) 11am: Lions Game Day Live (Seasonal, formerly "Ford Lions Report Live") 12pm: State Champs! Extra Point (High School Football show produced by the State Champs Network) WMYD will air Lions Postgame Live (new show) immediately following Lions games (should be the 4pm hour almost always) beginning 9/14, it will also air on detroitlions.com. Also starting 9/8: WMYD is going to air The Doctors at 4pm weekdays and Lets Ask America at 7pm weekdays. The trash talkers are untouched and the 700 Club has slid up from 7am to 9am to make room for the 2 hour news block they recently started. Starting Sept. 8 the new weekday lineup will be: 430am 7 Action News This Morning 7am GMA 9am Live With Kelly And Michael 10am Dr. Oz (New Time) 11am The View 12pm 7 Action News At Noon 1230pm Right This Minute 1pm The Chew 2pm General Hospital 3pm Meridith Vieira (New Show) 4pm The Now Detroit (New Show) 5pm 7 Action News At 5pm 6pm 7 Action News At 6pm 630pm WNT 7pm 7 Action News At 7 730pm The List (New Show) Oz Moved from 4pm to 10am, The Now replaces Oz, The List is replacing Lets Ask America and Vieira is replacing Katie.
  10. Only the folks here think it's a huge mistake, to her she wanted rid of it and people say not for sale and take the money all the time. She obviously didn't want it and all this worrying about history that you do is irrelevent to the issue at hand. Not a mistake at all to her, a good move all the way to the bank.
  11. Never saw one, went right into a 45 minute local newscast before the 8pm showcase game...
  12. It was established on yesterday's show that David will be in next week.
  13. They haven't had it in 20 years, it used to be on everything. WXYZ was the same way with the ABC logo, they skipped out on it until 2008. They had to be forced to add it. Network logos on local bugs is dumb anyways, 70 years later I think most people can find the channels, no need to parade it out there anymore. And since it's a newer thing, no need to have started. Another reason is that people in this market identify the network as part of the channel and not the other way around. So NBC is second to WDIV in viewers thinking, same with ABC being second to WXYZ. We've just never done in that way, same with time and temp, outside mornings neither station uses them unless it's extreme heat or cold. Detroit is a very unique market and it doesn't seem to run like most others. It's a #5 market that dropped to 11, so it' doesn't quite line-up with it's rank.
  14. New set, new graphics, new logos for their website and air. They did the same thing in 2002.
  15. I am happy about that, but I'm saying that having to do that is a bad sign about the networks true feelings of the health of the overall brand.
  16. The promo was ok, just ok. It had way to much apology for Diane Sawyers fluff written all over it and it was too long without really getting good. If they bring the old music back and a reasonable graphics package we can talk.
  17. Justin Rose has joined WXYZ as a Sports MMJ from Hearst-owned WTAE in Pittsburgh: https://twitter.com/JustinRoseWTAE
  18. Yep, keeping viewers guessing works every time.
  19. Here's the plain one which actually shows World News Tonight in the flyby: http://vimeo.com/104624795
  20. There's not really much to the current theme compared to the old one. I just listened to both back to back, to my ears the old one is far, far better.
  21. I agree 100% with this, stuff off my TV tuner that's odd or interesting isn't worth a thread every time, just an anecdotal mention.
  22. Nobody can force you to do anything... just sayin'.
  23. Does that mean you'd rather have 10's of hundreds of threads to sort through?
