  1. According to DCRTV, WJLA will be dropping MeTV effective 3/1. No word on if another DC station will pick it up or if local cable providers will pick up the Baltimore or Richmond feed.
  2. WILM in Wilmington NC simulcasts WRAL's morning, noon, 6p, and 11p newscasts, along with inserting a quick Wilmington weather outlook that doesn't air on WRAL. I don't recall if they air any specific issues related to the city, as it's been years since I've been there, but I do recall the weather forecasts.
  3. What a wonderful story, glad to hear Mac had his wish granted <3 http://www.wral.com/mac-s-wish-mac-and-parents-to-ride-in-sky-5-tuesday/16457965/
  4. Just posted this in out and about, but figured it would fit well over here as well. DCRTV reports that WJLA/NC8's Bruce DePuyt will be leaving the station effecting Jan 31st. I honestly won't be surprised if other veteran on-air staff such as Doug Hill, Dave Lucas, Rich Reeve, Melanie Hastings, Suzanne Kennedy, etc leave or "retire" before 2017 is over.

  6. https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/veteran-dc-tv-anchor-maureen-bunyan-out-at-wjla-possibly-ending-her-career/2017/01/08/8877aae8-d522-11e6-9cb0-54ab630851e8_story.html?postshare=9061483939452236&tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.d0c844289c83 Maureen is the next one to fall victim to the shitty "retirement" axe at Sinclair. WJLA/NC8 has gone down the toilet since they were purchased by SBG and I honestly won't be surprised if Doug Hill is out next. They already have him reduced to the noon, 4, and 5pm shows, while Steve Rudin handles the 6, 10, and 11pm shows.
  7. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1405689582795716 Mike Thomas returns to the early morning news at WTTG, replacing Gary McGrady. No word as to where Gary will be going.
  8. After Dick passed, I gave up on DCRNYE and migrated over to Anderson & Kathy on CNN, although I did enjoy what little I saw of Pitbull's special this year since it included classic hip hop, which I never expected.
  9. Noticed in my FIOS program guide the other day that WTVR now has a 6:30pm newscast with no mention of CBS-EN at all. While it did air at 6:30 followed by the 7pm news, I wonder if they're planning to bump CBS-EN to 7 after the new year and have a two hour block of local news from 5-7?
  10. WNBC's Steve Sosna filling in for Amelia Draper tonight on WRC.
  11. I've long since given up on WTTG's hokey morning news and moved to CBS This Morning, but I'll gladly check Katie, Matt, and Al out for old times sake.
  12. Reminds me a lot of WOAY (ABC Beckley/Bluefield WV)'s logo before the DT switch.
  13. Depending on talent and overall coverage, I think it may work out.
  14. Granted this is moreso about cord cutting, but in general, ESPN is awful, plain & simple. Maybe I'm just a picky sports fan, but watching their coverage of any sport, especially baseball, is usually a train-wreck.
  15. Two big stories out of the DC area FOX 5 early evening anchor Laura Evans is leaving after 18 years https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=711674615651510 WUSA ND Bill Lord is stepping down after two years http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2016/12/2/tegna-shake-up-in-dc
  16. When WRAL goes to the Today Show, they always mention to switch over to FOX 50 for more local morning news, been that way for a long time, back to their CBS days when The Early Show was still a thing.
  17. I like it for CBS-TM, but it doesn't feel right for the Evening News, nor do I particularly care for it during special reports.
  18. WRC & WRAL are both airing the countdown show, but no special programming before it.
  19. WRC usually goes back to News 4 Today from 8:30-10am, WRAL does the same for local news, but from 9:30-10 as they normally start Weekend Today at 8am on Saturday and 9am on Sunday.
  20. I wasn't pleased with Mark & Micah during the coverage of the Cubs World Series parade, so I can't blame WGN for the decision.
  21. "As fulfilling as my work here at WTTG has been, I am very excited to begin this new journey that involves my passions and will make a difference in our community. I am proud to have been part of such an awesome team of creative and motivated journalists." Also says she'll make her announcement about her plans soon. To me, that translates into her contract not being renewed.
  22. DCRTV reports that Laura Evans will be leaving WTTG effective 12/2.
  23. When Bob Ryan moved to WJLA, he was given the title of "senior meteorologist" while Doug kept the chief title.
  24. I think WGN-A still airs the parade on Thanksgiving day.
