  1. All of the DC-area stations feature traffic reporters who will also work as anchors/reporters, however when the main traffic reporter is out, typically a co-anchor will do traffic (except at WRC, they usually have Jack Taylor from WTOP fill in)

  2. With WWBT getting Kelly Clarkson and Tamron Hall, I wonder what WTVR will be doing with the 4pm slot which is/was Steve's spot?  They currently air Ellen at 3 and it doesn't look like WTVR is giving it up.  My only predictions would be a 4pm newscast to compete with WWBT or perhaps they snag Rachel Ray from WRIC who only clears the show overnight?

I was somewhere locally with The AccuWeather Channel with their L bar - is the feed done locally or are there different feeds.

We get the local feed here, but I had a free trial of Fubo TV and they had the national version.  My only complaint about the AccuWeather Channel is that they do little to no coverage of hurricanes.

NBA TV will broadcast it as well; unsure which feeds they’ll borrow.

I think NBA TV usually goes with local coverage.  I know NHL Network and MLB Network typically pick up a local affiliate for the Stanley Cup or World Series parades, so I'm assuming NBA TV will as well.

  5. WUSA shifts meteorologists effective today.

Howard Bernstein will return to the weekday morning shows, shifting Miri Marshall to weekend mornings and Melissa Nord to weekend evenings.  Nord and Marshall will split duties during the noon show during the week.  Topper Shutt will retain his longtime chief meteorologist position.

As for the pop-news, I agree with you. GMA has gotten way too festivally for me and hard to watch. The adding of Strahan didn't help my opinion of that.

I was at the doctor's with my dad this morning and I caught the last 10 minutes or so of GMA.  Wow, not the way I remember it being.

Retirement. It's a bad kept secret but that's what it is. Mel Showers will be retiring from WKRG. Not many anchors can claim to have worked for 50 years in just one station. Don Alhart and Dave Ward are the only ones I can think of right now.

If Jim Vance were still with us, I think he would still be doing the 6pm show on WRC.  I know he stepped down from the 11 a year or so before his cancer diagnosis, but I'm pretty sure we'd still be hearing Vance telling us about the day at 6pm, damn I miss that man.

  8. I wish MASN would get with the times and post the current batters BA, HR, and RBI's.  Maybe we'll see a new package from them in the year 5000 when our robot overlords take over.  I for one welcome our new robot overlords.
