Not sure if this has been confirmed yet, but over on another forum I found out that Entertainment Tonight apparently will take over the 2 PM timeslot on WJBK, moving over from WWJ to replace Access Hollywood.

Interesting how WWJ as a CBS O&O is giving up Drew Barrymore (moving to WDIV) and Entertainment Tonight.  I never understood why WWJ didn't put ET at 7pm or 7:30 like most CBS O&Os.

    Yep, it’s starting September 6th.

Funny how WUSA had the 4pm news in DC for a few years in the 90s and now they’ve playing catch-up with the other major stations.

WTHR in Indianapolis is also starting 4pm news on September 6th to replace Dr. Phil.

It's unusual but not all that rare. As WDJT & WVUE have aired J!/Wheel on the 6pm/CT hour for years.......

Denver has had it that way for years. First with KMGH, then the shows moved to KDVR.  I think KMGH moved Jeopardy! to another time for awhile and started a 6pm newscast, but a few years later, they went to KDVR.

  4. I don't care for their newscasts anymore with the flashy graphics and the longtime theme music gone.  The current music just sucks.  I don't know why they don't just use the Eyewitness News theme if they aren't going to use News Series 2000 Plus that they had for 21 years.

It's not the same without Linda, Sylvia, Ron, Kathy, Jerry, or Mark.  Alan leaving was the last of the great legends the station had.  I don't know why they don't put Ravi and Karen as their lead weekday team.  They are the best they've got, but they can't seem to figure out who to put in Alan's position.

It looks like, unlike Ellen, Jennifer will offer a second run, leaving Wheel as the only first-run daily syndie that still does not do a second run at all, all because of its former daytime version that's been off the air waves since 1991.

They are now running a 24/7 Wheel of Fortune streaming channel on Pluto TV, so you'd think they'd now allow a second repeat airing of the show in syndication for stations that would be interested.

WSMV is dropping all their syndication for more news. The midday news will run from 11-12, noon news from 12-1, NBC News Daily at 1, Today in Nashville will move from 11 to 2 and run for an hour, and add a 3pm newscast. This all starts Sept 5. Right now their syndication is Wendy Williams and Tamron Hall. Wendy is getting replaced by Sherri and she is going to Fox17(?). No word on where Tamron is going, yet.

I remember KCNC 4 in Denver used to be all news outside of NBC programming in the 90s.  They went by KCNC--Colorado's News Channel.  That changed when CBS took over the station and they added some syndicated programming to the schedule.

YR contract ends in 2024 & Bold contract ends in 2023. The Bell Family that started both shows- the eldest son was responsible of selling the shows overseas. Where their $$$ comes from.  Lee Philip Bell was very popular in Chicago back in the day at WBBM.  Idk if the Family has some type of blood deal with CBS.  Who knows both shows could get a year renewal before morphing into Paramount.  I could see Bold either on Paramount or even take a dip to Pop ( at one time Bold was airing reruns on there) as for YR- it run by Sony Television Pictures.  The Bells' own Bold outright.

As for the ratings in the soap world they're looking at the demos18-49 & 18-25 arena and Bold has been beating big sister YR for several cycles.  YR still #1 in HH.

They could it cost 50 million dollars to produce a soap.  When ABC dumped their two soaps; Madison Ave came out and said they were still invested in soap opera

viewing, because the audience is there and stable.

Do we really want to see more news in the afternoon?   The soap audience hating seeing Talk Shows, or another news program replaced their soap. They've watched with their grandmothers, then their mothers and etc.  They want the escapism, and they want to be entertained.  They don't want to see GMA or Today on for the whole day.

The executives at the network is looking at the bottom line of course, and today's executives seem to be more concern about cheaper program vs. the entertainment value.

    Anything is possible.

Having at least one soap at least led viewers to NBC to see promos for other NBC shows in primetime and late night.  Without Days, I won't be viewing anything on the local NBC station during the day anymore (or much at all).  I'm sure many others won't be either.  I have little interest in news programs and talk shows.

I’m sure affiliates are loving the fact they are getting this news (officially) just a month before the new season starts, long after 22-23 syndie deals were locked up. I don’t see many large market, non O&O NBC stations sticking with the new, replacement newscast longterm.

Yes, I agree.  I'd rather see our local NBC station air something else in the timeslot.  I'm surprised it's not yet another hour of news with the Today Show branding...

  9. It’s the end of an era losing the last signature program of NBC’s daytime schedule. Days has aired at 1pm ET since January 1979 and on the network since 1965. I have watched Days since 2012. I’ll sure have no use for the local NBC station anymore. I barely do for their primetime shows.

Doesn’t look like WBBM is going to take the Judge Judy reruns, as they are launching a 4pm news this fall when Judy is currently airing.

I think they'd do better to air the Judge Judy reruns.  This just adds a fifth 4:00 newscast...

I'm not optimistic at the ratings potential, period, but if it's just another hour of Brad & Irika (find a week when both are co-anchoring), with the low-key presentation and super serious mood, it'll be DOA. Besides, a 4th show of the same team will look cheap, even to the casual viewer. Good luck to them, but enjoy the continued battle for 4th place.

It's boring with the same people on every newscast.  I always liked how ABC 7 had different co-anchors on each newscast in the past years when I used to watch.  All these stations have less programming and all newscasts, it's no wonder ratings are down and people don't care about watching local channels much anymore other than needing them to watch network programs in their area.

  12. I was glad to see that the 11am news is back. It never should've left! Also, I think ABC 7 is smart to pass on Right This Minute for the 1pm timeslot. Whatever ABC comes up with for their O&Os fails (Katie, FabLife, etc). I wish they had kept One Life to Live...still miss that show a lot.

  13. More from Feder this morning. He states that Insiders are saying that Elgas is the "odds-on favorite" to succeed Alan at 4pm.

He also stated that Judy could also "be in line" to replace Linda at 4pm, but as he pointed out "that’s still a long way off".

The one to replace Linda at 4pm should have been Sylvia Perez! In fact, they should have Sylvia return and be on with Linda at 4pm to replace Alan.

  14. I am glad to see that Cheryl and Alan will have a regular newscast together. I would like to see Sylvia Perez return at 4pm and anchor with Linda, but I doubt that will happen with those in charge at ABC 7...I assume Hosea Sanders or Rob Elgas will get the spot.
