Doesn’t look like WBBM is going to take the Judge Judy reruns, as they are launching a 4pm news this fall when Judy is currently airing.

I think they'd do better to air the Judge Judy reruns.  This just adds a fifth 4:00 newscast...

I'm not optimistic at the ratings potential, period, but if it's just another hour of Brad & Irika (find a week when both are co-anchoring), with the low-key presentation and super serious mood, it'll be DOA. Besides, a 4th show of the same team will look cheap, even to the casual viewer. Good luck to them, but enjoy the continued battle for 4th place.

It's boring with the same people on every newscast.  I always liked how ABC 7 had different co-anchors on each newscast in the past years when I used to watch.  All these stations have less programming and all newscasts, it's no wonder ratings are down and people don't care about watching local channels much anymore other than needing them to watch network programs in their area.

I see Kelly Clarkson finally gets a daytime slot on wpxi, replacing right this minute at 1 before rachel ray.

I don't know why they continued to air Right This Minute all last season at 1:00pm...

  4. CBS owned stations don't carry more than one hour of the CBS Overnight News with a repeat of the CBS Evening News being used to replace part of the Overnight News.  The overnight broadcast is just clips of the CBS Evening News anyway and isn't the original style broadcast they used to have with CBS News Nightwatch and Up to the Minute.  They should do what NBC has with Early Today making the CBS Morning News available at 3:00AM ET so local stations can use it where they want and start newscasts as early as 4:00AM in some markets.  ABC's America This Morning now airs at 3:30AM ET to allow stations to air local news at 4:00AM.

  5. Live with Kelly and Ryan is repeating now on ABC owned stations throughout the country as well as other ABC stations that carry the show.  It looks like ABC World News Now is being reduced or completely pre-empted in favor of the Kelly and Ryan repeat.  WABC New York and WPVI Philadelphia don't appear to be airing World News Now at all anymore.  WABC now shows This Week with George Stephanopoulos airing late Sunday/early Monday instead and Tamron Hall through the week from 3-4AM.

    They came to their senses!

Sister station WPXI 11 in Pittsburgh needs to do the same.  They are still airing Right This Minute at 1:00pm while Kelly's show is on at 3:00am...I don't know why these stations kept Right This Minute in daytime anyway.

  7. Unless your a news fan, I don't know why you would turn to WHDH anymore. The only good syndicated programs they have is Family Feud and Extra. It doesn't have much to lure viewers in to keep them tuned in for newscasts. Why didn't they move The CW from WLVI to their station? At least that would offer something to promote with programming.

  8. Is 7 News on WHDH popular in Boston? It seems like the station will be nothing but news from now on. Their syndicated programming won't lure viewers. I'm surprised they didn't put CW programming on in primetime to draw some popularity to the station.

  9. I was glad to see that the 11am news is back. It never should've left! Also, I think ABC 7 is smart to pass on Right This Minute for the 1pm timeslot. Whatever ABC comes up with for their O&Os fails (Katie, FabLife, etc). I wish they had kept One Life to Live...still miss that show a lot.

  10. More from Feder this morning. He states that Insiders are saying that Elgas is the "odds-on favorite" to succeed Alan at 4pm.

He also stated that Judy could also "be in line" to replace Linda at 4pm, but as he pointed out "that’s still a long way off".

The one to replace Linda at 4pm should have been Sylvia Perez! In fact, they should have Sylvia return and be on with Linda at 4pm to replace Alan.

  11. I am glad to see that Cheryl and Alan will have a regular newscast together. I would like to see Sylvia Perez return at 4pm and anchor with Linda, but I doubt that will happen with those in charge at ABC 7...I assume Hosea Sanders or Rob Elgas will get the spot.
