  1. Well, that is indeed a shame, but life does go on. Soap operas are beloved dinosaurs, but dinosaurs all the same. Better to have it on Peacock than cancelled outright. Also, if NBC had given the time back to the affiliates, the hour would likely have been filled with some combination of local news and lifestyle fluff, leading to even more complaints about it somewhere on the board. NBC News may not be glamorous, but it's better than infomercials. I think that should be their new slogan.
  2. Good gravy, WBTS coughed twice? Hmm, they'd best quarantine themselves, just in case.
  3. From the Orlando Sentinel article itself: "The 5 and 10 p.m. newscasts on Estrella will be delivered in English and closed captioned in Spanish."

    The "3" Thread

Bah, I like that new WKYC logo. It's simple and to the point, tells you everything you need to know. Hey, when you see that 3, you know it's coming direct from Cleveland. You know what's boring? Those blue-and-white Circle 7s, those suckers are everywhere. You see one of those, it could coming from any of the nine zillion Channel 7s around the nation that were too lazy to come up with something unique. And since I had no clue what the current WKYC logo looked like, I went to their website. It looks like a ne'er-do-well 3 leaning against a wall while a shady peacock looks around the corner for unsuspecting rubes to mug. Hardly trustworthy, I'd say.
  5. All I'm getting out of today's info is that for some reason, I think I really need to go to Arby's after work today. It's my understanding they have the meats.
  6. They're missing a great chance to tap into California's legal growing pot culture... ...eh, growing pot, that's too much of a pun. Let's call it budding weed culture, yeah... ...anyway, now's their opportunity to rebrand themselves something like KRON-IK instead. They could even retire that tired, out-dated Golden Gate Bridge-inspired "4" in favor of four joints in the shape of a "4." "Tired of the fluff on the other stations? KRON 4 News is BLUNT!" I'm giving you a license to print money here, Nexstar. You can thank me later.
  7. You'll have to forgive Eat News. He and Regis have a bit of a history with each other. Every since the vicious taunting, Eat News sees Regis everywhere and this causes him to boldly address TVNT posters' wild misconceptions regarding ratings versus billings.
  8. Ah, I can hear it now: "Oh, golly no, we don't have a deal with those pesky Sinclair types, no way no how. Those would be circumstances a bit too shady. No, we have a deal in place with... er... Cunningham Broadcasting! Like, totally and completely unrelated to Sinclair at all. Yeah, that's the ticket!"
  9. I kept scrolling down, got to John Brady, and said to myself, "He looks like the sort of guy who's seen it all, done it all, and knows where all the bodies are buried." Then his biography confirmed it.
  10. I'll be honest, I'm going to really miss KNLC. It's been such a fascinating anachronism since it signed on. No matter when and what I've tuned in over the years, the station seemed like it was at least fifteen years behind the times. Still, Larry Rice always had his heart in the right place (if not his broadcast acumen), and this is $3,750,000 that his ministry can certainly use. Also, Weigel seems a decent owner, so I'm looking forward to what they do with the station.
  11. KTVI in St. Louis is starting an 11:00 pm weeknight newscast on January 18: http://fox2now.com/2016/01/01/jasmine-huda-to-join-fox-2s-shirley-washington-for-new-11pm-newscast/
  12. Because it worked so well for Beatrice back in the '80s.
  13. Hey, no problem. The funny thing is I did a Google search for WOAI and Antenna TV fully expecting the only results would be this thread and/or some of the more insane threads in this forum. Finding the truth was as surprising as anything.
  14. Apparently WOAI posted it on their website earlier in the week: http://news4sanantonio.com/news/features/top-stories/stories/antenna-tv-replacing-live-well-network-18817.shtml
  15. It's being proven in Indianapolis that a network-affiliated station is worth more than an independent. Why give up something so valuable to one of your competitors who just might do something better with that network affiliation?
  16. I don't see what was so great about the 2002-2014 WDIV logo. That was just as bland and boring as the new one: "Local 4" nickname, white 4 on red background. They've just wandered from one neighborhood in Dullsville to another.
