  1. Just 5 news organizations (WBTV, WSOC, WCNC, WCCB and WJZY) but on 6 commercial stations, 7 if you count the WBTV news from 7-9 am and 8-9 pm on Bounce 3.2. I agree, it's a bit much. But WCCB wasn't giving up on its news just because they lost the Fox affiliation.
  2. WBTV weekend sports anchor Leah Rubertino has left the station to pursue a career in public relations. She is also getting married in September. Her last sportscast was last night. She will remain in Charlotte. We will miss you Leah! I had the pleasure of meeting her at a football game of my high school's she was covering in 2013.
  3. Wow! He is the first WJZY employee to voluntarily leave since they joined Fox. Shannon Rauch was let go back in February (thought that was a bit unfair).
  4. Agree, The Chew needs to also be fed (no pun intended) at 11am CT. But until it is, it should be at 1, with GH at 2.
  5. Brad Panovich just confirmed on Facebook that the change will be tomorrow.
  6. What about 7-9 am on WATL? Guess that branding remains the same? EDIT: Never mind, I checked, I thought they had 7-9 news on there, I guess not.
  7. And as someone pointed out on Radio Discussions, why not make this 3 hours? So that affiliates wouldn't have to get their own. But oh well, they can use some of what they already air. Wonder if WJZY will pick this up or hand it to WMYT like they recently did Weekend Marketplace?
  8. Speaking of WCNC they along with the other affiliates will be looking for a replacement for the Live Well network. http://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/local-tv/abc-discontinue-live-well-network/131646#.U5XqOY9Q4Vo.twitter Maybe Antenna TV or This TV could go to 36.2 which would allow Movies! to finally go to 46.2 or 55.2. Not sure when those contracts expire.
  9. Maybe now they can actually get HD. Though I guess Gannett has the final say when that happens.
  10. I read on Twitter WYMT in Hazard, KY is getting HD. How does a station in the 25th largest market (WCNC) allow a station in HAZARD, KENTUCKY to beat them to HD? Even after the change to Gannett. WCNC should have got it a long time ago!
  11. Christine Noel tweeted that she and her husband are moving to the West Coast. So if Kirk is leaving, I'd imagine they'd just have two 10:00 anchors. Although they still need a replacement for Cassidy on WCCB News Edge.
  12. Their contract with NBC running til like 2021 and the NBC News Channel headquarters might have been the only two things keeping WCCB from stealing NBC away from them last year when Fox went to WJZY.
  13. And WCNC in Charlotte STILL doesn't have HD.
  14. Don't think Fox graphics are going to fly at WCNC, with WJZY now a Fox O&O. Unless these are a different type of Fox graphics.
  15. I also thought they would put news on 3.2. Charlotte doesn't need a fourth 10:00 newscast. 8-9 makes a lot more sense. I could see Maureen O'Boyle taking that newscast since she already does 7.
  16. So Telemundo has an affiliation in Columbia but not Charlotte. Wow. You'd think one of the Charlotte stations would have put it or Univision on a .2. I could see WJZY or WMYT picking up MundoFox.
  17. I could see the CW going to WOLO's .2 channel since Bahakel's flagship is CW. They could put a 10:00 news on it. Only thing is I think weather reports still originate from WCCB. WIS or WLTX could also start a 10:00 news for a CW .2.
  18. http://charlottemediascene.blogspot.com/2013/11/wsoc-to-expand-10-pm-newscast-to-hour.html?m=1 WSOC is expanding their 10:00 news on WAXN to a full hour starting December 2. (Weekdays only). This will be the first ever 10:00 hour long conventional news broadcast in the market. Not counting WCCB's news which is followed by News Edge. It also confirms WJZY's will be an hour when it launches.
  19. So far no local TV personality has made the jump to WJZY.
  20. The WBTV morning and afternoon traffic reporters have switched dayparts. Tonya Rivens moves to afternoons. Sammi Jo Francis moves to mornings.
