  1. WOW!!! You think @oknewsguy actually wants Kim to take over the stations?
  2. https://www.facebook.com/130159617072026/posts/2885827961505164/ Maureen O’Boyle has explained why she has been off air for the past 2 weeks. She had been sick since March 17, but thankfully tested negative for the flu, strep and COVID-19. She has now been cleared. Jamie Boll has filled in for her on WBTV News Prime Time at 7. This is certainly good news.
  3. WCNC temporally shortened Charlotte Today to 30 minutes and started their noon newscast at 11:30 am.
  4. John Carter and Mary King distancing themselves on the WBTV morning show
  5. It looks like WJZY has done the same
  6. Don’t know where else to put this now that the COVID19 thread has been moved to Speculatron, but WCNC has moved at least its sports reports out of the studio and will be working remotely. I wonder if all Tegna stations have done this? https://www.facebook.com/1463114260592588/posts/2591684131068923/?d=n
  7. Diana Alvear has left WJZY. She has decided to be a stay at home mom. She had just returned from maternity leave with her second child. I had picked up on this and was thinking about posting something. I had not seen her on the news lately. And her Twitter bio had said “former Fox 46 news anchor.” She just put up that Facebook post today. She anchored the South Carolina Presidential Debate Special at 11:00 on February 25 and then disappeared shortly thereafter. I must have missed her on air announcement if there was one. Nexstar has not updated the website (it even still says FTS on the bottom) and her bio remains on there for now but she is gone. I am glad this is not a Nexstar decision. Lindsey Clein has replaced her at 6 and 10. She is also very good. Best of luck Diana, you will be missed.
  8. I live in the Charlotte market but I think it has helped both stations.
  9. Meteorologist Britney Hamilton is leaving WJZY. She hasn’t announced where she is going.
  10. I am surprised they are not airing news in the entire 4:00 hour. But I guess they have to air Divorce Court sometime, no sister station to move it to. So much news on WAGA.
  11. https://www.sportschannel8.com/media-musings-from-wrestling-to-wral-meet-the-triangles-newest-sports-anchor/ Chris Lea will move from WXII to WRAL (not far) to replace Jeff Gravley as sports anchor, who has taken a job with NC State Athletics.
  12. I cannot put my finger on it.
  13. https://www.facebook.com/116380896454/posts/10156702416376455/?d=n&substory_index=0 Christine Sperow, formerly Nelson, announced this morning on WBTV she is leaving for “a major TV job in Atlanta.” Her last day will be March 4. She announced it at 6:15, I’m not sure if she mentioned the station but I don’t think she did. Best of luck to you Christine, you will be missed. Yet another anchor leaves WBTV. It has not been the same since the Gray takeover. Don’t even get me started on not replacing Delano Little and Ashley Strohlein and not even having sports in their weekday 6:00 news anymore. (I am actually not sure Ashley would’ve left if her position was going to be filled, given that she went to rival WCNC). Mary King, who joined the station last year from sister station WIS, will replace her as co-anchor. Congratulations Mary!
  14. https://www.facebook.com/1709037399321868/posts/3108837829341811/?d=n Meteorologist Greg Armbrecht left WCCB on Friday.
  15. I noticed that WJZY’s Diana Alvear has now returned from maternity leave with her second baby. Also today was Brigida Mack’s official debut on Good Day Charlotte.
  16. WBTV’s Molly Grantham just announced on the 11:00 news she is expecting baby #3 in July! She told her kids last night. Good for them.
  17. Sounds like she is staying
  18. Brigida Mack, formerly of WBTV, just announced she is jumping to rival WJZY. She will soon be working for Nexstar. https://twitter.com/brigidamack/status/1215728675108413440?s=21 She’s the second former WBTV employee to jump to a rival in the past several months, the first being Ashley Strohlein to WCNC
  19. Circle is on WBTV 3.3, bumping Grit to 3.4.
  20. Especially since they had planned to start news anyway as a Fox affiliate before WAGA took the affiliation. And 4 years later CBS regained the NFL.
  21. Yep, WBTV would probably have been forced to take NBC. They could’ve ended up with Fox though.
  22. WSB switched from NBC to ABC a couple years after sister station WSOC in Charlotte did, however NBC went to WCNC (then WRET) instead of outgoing ABC affiliate WCCB thanks to Ted Turner. He sold out to Group W a few years later and WRET ended up pretty much shutting down their news department and canceling NBC Nightly News for a while. I’d say ABC got the better end of that deal in Charlotte. Probably would have even if NBC had picked WCCB though.
