To your point — looking at the Baltimore DMA, community first (and station ownership) must definately play a role. Here, the Hearst owned NBC: WBAL 11 is the market leader.

It's competition must definately play a role:  CBS's start up O&O WJZ, Sincalir's Fox 45, and Scripps' WMAR (ABC, 2). All three of those are weak product station owners.

Imagine this...a Sinclair station adding a morning newscast, replacing TND!

    https://triblive.com/aande/movies-tv/tv-talk-morning-local-newscast-launches-on-wpgh-tv-next-week-fox-readies-grimsburg/

(spoiler alert:  It's WPGH and it's produced by WPXI.  Still, surprised that WPGH is playing along!)

Most likely, WPXI wants to keep up with KDKA and WPKD.  I'm sure Cox would gladly snatch up WPGH if they could

Better them than airing TND IMO. At least WPXI is local.

Having seen so much criticism across these threads for companies like Sinclair, Tegna and Nexstar, I wanted to pinpoint what you all think are the prime issues with station owners like these. Anything from how they manage their stations and treat their employees, to their news presentation styles. Are there any strengths to their methods? O&O groups included.

Don’t forget Scripps, they had also been replacing newscasts with “Scrippscasts”, much like Sinclair does.

Clearly they never bothered to fix the Twitter feed on the right side as it has tweets from 2019 embedded on there...

Hmm, the two former anchors suing the station, front and center...

They’ve changed the like order in embed Twitter/X feed, and now sort on like counts. One of reason why I hate Elon Musk.

Also, would WWJ dare go to the call letter box, following KDKA, WBZ, etc?   I didn’t think so a month ago but now, I don’t know.

I don’t think they will use call sign as branding. It’s a new news operation and they don’t think people will recognize it from call signs.
