  1. This could be the end for KSNV. Sinclair will most likely buy it and shut it down, moving NBC to KVMY.
  2. I'm predicting NBC 6 Charlotte News. Similar to what KNSD did to become NBC 7 San Diego News. Maybe WCNC will debut the new Gannett website then.
  3. https://twitter.com/erin_nichols/status/474763413839941632 Apparently the folks at KABB have nothing better to do after the Spurs won Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
  4. Former WTSP anchor Ginger Gadsden is joining WKMG as an evening anchor. She will join Matt Austin in co-anchoring at 5:30 and will solo anchor at 7:00. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/ginger-gadsden-to-join-wkmg-in-orlando_b121892 Bruce Haffner, former helicopter pilot for KTVK, is leaving. He had been at 3TV for twenty years. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/ktvk-chopperguy-leaving-station_b121858
  5. Mainly WBIR, the first station to get the new website. Coincidence? I think not.
  6. You'll all love this: http://www.buzzfeed.com/jessicamisener/40-reasons-local-news-is-the-best-news
  7. Why can't they just leave KMSS, KSHV, WEVV and KPEJ out of this? Then the deal would for sure go through (unless the FCC wants to see WVLA/WGMB and KETK/KFXK broken up). It seems so simple.
  8. KCNC throwing it back today: their #TBT today shows Alan Gionet and "The Big Switch" back in 1995. Meanwhile, KGWN has begun using the standard Gray graphics...somewhat; they're still using the QNI ripoffs for their opens. (click on "NewsChannel 5 at 5:30pm"; it's their weather segment)
  9. KDRV actually leads that market, according to Wikipedia. KDRV is also the only station in the market that still has a sports department; KOBI and KTVL both got rid of theirs in '09.
  10. Hopefully they'll have new graphics to replace this piece of crap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xsXCtAOP1A
  11. I'm surprised that nobody has found the KFMB 2013 news music yet. I might try and search around for it...
  12. It's Friday, and that means another entry by TVNewsCheck's Harry Jessell: http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/75516/stations-need-to-boldly-press-their-agenda
  13. Former WVTM anchor Hilary Golston is joining WKYC Cleveland: http://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/hilary-golston-joins-wkyc-from-wtvm_b118791
  14. In honor of the Final Four (more specifically the National Championship), WFSB and WKYT are taking part in a "like war" on Facebook.
  15. WPGA, Macon, GA (I put this on the unknown themes thread earlier but figured I'd post it here too):
  16. OK, I just came across this. This is WPGA, the former ABC affiliate in Macon, Georgia. Probably never going to find the answer for this piece of crap but thought I'd throw it out there. And you all thought KIEM was bad…
  17. Website predictions, anyone? WOI: CentralIowaMatters.com WHBF: QuadCitiesHomepage.net KCAU: SiouxlandHomepage.net
  18. This came out on TVNC this morning; somewhat interesting but probably isn't going to matter that much to Wheeler.
  19. Well it's about time!!! This may actually challenge WLUC in the ratings, unlike WBUP.
  20. Found this gem from the Cayman Islands (third one down that says "CAYMAN 27 NEWS AT SIX"): http://new.livestream.com/Cayman27/online It may be the Cayman Islands, but this has US written all over it. They have J.C. Burns graphics and they even have Harry Schultz as a voice-over. I know that they had used 615's "The Rainmaker" at one point but this doesn't sound like that.
  21. If the "Big 4" are the top four rated stations in each market, here's the issues in the top-50: 11. Detroit – WWJ CBS 62 (CBS O&O) no news 21. St. Louis – KDNL ABC 30 (Sinclair) no news 23. Pittsburgh – WPGH Fox 53 (Sinclair) news outsourced to WPXI 24. Raleigh-Durham – WRAL CBS 5 and WRAZ Fox 50 (both Capitol) 32. Columbus – WSYX ABC 6 and WTTE Fox 28 (both Sinclair; WTTE has LMA with Cunningham) 36. San Antonio – WOAI NBC 4 and KABB Fox 29 (both Sinclair) 38. West Palm Beach – WFLX Fox 29 (Raycom) news outsourced to WPTV 45. Hampton Roads – WAVY NBC 10 and WVBT Fox 43 (both LIN) 46. Piedmont Triad – WXLV ABC 45 (Sinclair) news outsourced to Time Warner Cable News (formerly News 14 Carolina) 47. Albuquerque – KRQE CBS 13 and KASA Fox 2 (both LIN) 48. Jacksonville – WTLV NBC 12 and WJXX ABC 25 (both Gannett) AND WAWS Fox 30 and WTEV CBS 47 (both Cox; WTEV has JSA with Bayshore); though there's independent WJXT channel 4
  22. They referred to WKTV as WTVK in the article. I have to laugh at that one (that was WVLT's former calls when it was on channel 26)
  23. Meredith has completed its acquisition of KMOV.
