  1. I hope the Sinclair package goes to WPMI and WEAR brings back the Hummingbird theme in some form. It probably won't happen though.
  2. Sinclair has announced that ASN will now begin broadcasting the Western Athletic Conference. The schools in the conference are: California State University, Bakersfield (Bakersfield, CA; Sinclair owns KBAK) Chicago State University (Chicago, IL) Grand Canyon University (Phoenix, AZ) University of Missouri - Kansas City (Kansas City, MO) New Mexico State University (Las Cruces, NM; Sinclair owns KDBC and KFOX) Seattle University (Seattle, WA; Sinclair owns KOMO) University of Texas - Pan American (Edinburg, TX; Sinclair owns KGBT) Utah Valley University (Orem, UT; Sinclair owns KUTV)
  3. Another Look G ripoff, courtesy of KNBN in Rapid City, SD: http://www.newscenter1.tv/news/watch-newscasts
  4. CBS does have an affiliate on Puerto Rico but it's only available on cable. It is a localized feed of Erie, PA's WSEE. And NBC on WKAQ's .2 is a simulcast of WNBC. Not sure why it's WNBC and not WTVJ.
  5. DEVLIN!!!! At the new building at 200 South Alto Mesa, I assume. So will this be KDBC's new set as well? Or are they getting a separate set?
  6. It was a year ago today that WBNS sports director Dom Tiberi lost his daughter in a car accident. As you all can imagine, it's been a very sad day for Dom and the Tiberi family. My continued prayers and well wishes to all.
  7. Also worth mentioning is that Heartland will also inherit the grandfathered LMA for WLOV. The LMA has been around since 1992.
  8. .................. But still, this is one of the saddest stories that I have heard in the broadcast industry. My prayers and well wishes go out to Dave and the entire Benton family.
  9. Anchor Nelie Jones is leaving KNWA-KFTA.
  10. Dave Rexroth has returned to WXYZ. He has a prosthetic eye to replace his left eye that he lost in a 4th of July fireworks accident in Iowa.
  11. From B&C: "Prior to his death in June, Jim Rogers, owner of the Intermountain West broadcast group, redid his trust to arrange for the sale of his beloved KSNV Las Vegas, says his widow Beverly, with the proceeds seeding an educational foundation. Rogers had been "entertaining several suitors," adds Beverly, including eventual buyer Sinclair."
  12. WBNS and WTHR have been pulled from DirecTV after an unsuccessful round of retrans negotiations.
  13. Complete with the old Jags logo. Fake for sure. Wonder how David Kaye felt about having to voice that. The Now is coming to KNXV. Former KTVK reporter Yetta Gibson is the host.
  14. Indianapolis Star columnist Bob Kravitz is joining WTHR as a sports reporter. After 25 years, Tim McNiff is leaving KARE.
  15. Cleveland is Wheel at 7 and J! at 7:30 (formerly WEWS, now WOIO, but same times). In my former home market in Hartford, it was J! at 7 and Wheel at 7:30 on WTNH, and it still is.
  16. So Nate Fluharty started as a weathercaster at a low-budget no-name small-market UPN station and now he's the weeknight anchor at WTRF? Crazy how TV news works sometimes.
  17. And San Diego. Only XETV, KFMB and KGTV use their actual numbers.
  18. I had a feeling that he would retire soon. One of the best, no doubt.
  19. Oh no. I stopped in Palm Springs on my way back from Disneyland and the newscasts I watched (KESQ at 6, KPSP at 6:30 and KDFX at 10) had the EXACT same stories. (It was on the weekend, but still.) I can just imagine what this will mean to news in the Desert Southwest... And BTW, the Palmer News Package sounds AWFUL on KESQ. It's one of my favorites, but it doesn't mix at all with the NPG GFX. It is better than KMIR though.
  20. Somewhat related: Gannett has completed its buy of London.
  21. That's awesome. I'd imagine that the changes will be in place by the start of the fall semester.
  22. KREM will most likely be the last of the three; they are also not in HD.
