  1. The way the voiceover sounds, it's almost like "WCNC" is not a part of the branding at all. It sounds like they're just boasting the station calls and then saying that it's time for "NBC Charlotte News"
  2. You forgot the 6. You can't forget about those cable viewers!
  3. You say small-market as though Fluharty jumped up quite a few markets. WVTX and WTRF are in the same market.
  4. That topic transition with the three-note stinger is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. It doesn't even match up with the bumper music. It's out of time.
  5. Look G. Close enough. They look great in HD. I am kind of surprised they didn't get a Nexstar set-in-a-box. They instead got the WSYR treatment with the huge TV monitor behind the anchors, spacing them out. If they would've gotten the monitor that stations like WBRE and WTAJ have, it would look better. But... oh my. WENY is definitely more professional. I understand that it IS market 174, but that's no excuse. WETM's competitor is far superior as far as level of professionalism. I sense some audio issues, but I'm sure they will got sorted out in a few days when they start getting used to the new setup.
  6. It just doesn't match stylistically.
  7. I didn't like the old logo; it felt very old. I'm happy for the replacement. I'm very glad that they are not getting the standard Nexstar NBC affiliate logo, (i.e., WHAG, KNWA, KRBC, etc.)
  8. Didn't know where else to post this, so... WETM in Elmira, NY has a new logo and what appears to be a new set. I can only see a little bit from their Facebook. With WENY updating graphics and set and such not long ago, this will make Twin Tiers TV very nice.
  9. As a musician, I can tell you that the kick drum is executing a musical trick. I can't believe that I forget what it's called. Basically, it's taking an overall rhythm being counted with 3 beats in a measure. That's what the kick drum is doing. But, at 0:36, the melody line is laying down a rhythm that is a 4 beat pattern. It's sounds like it's off because it is. It's trying to fit more beats in a measure than what there are. It's what's called a "cross-rhythm." It's something like this. Anyway... I can tell that it is the entire stream because the anchors will get really high pitched and then really low pitched. You can really hear it with the music, but I can hear it when it's just them talking, too.
  10. Veteran WJAC anchor Marty Radovanic just made a public announcement that he has cancer and will be starting treatment. http://wjactv.com/news/features/top-stories/stories/anchor-marty-radovanic-opens-up-cancer-diagnosis-3081.shtml
  11. They were just a pretty good in-house knockoff, but they wanted to really boast that they were a CBS affiliate.
  12. WTAJ's transmitter was surrounded by a rare Pennsylvania wildfire, so the station is forced to run on low power until further notice.
  13. I'm looking for more information on this... I love the sound of it. I'm trying to find ANYTHING to do with it. The composer, some WDJT or KOLR opens, a video with CBS using it... anything.
  14. Hey, look! WAVY's graphics show WCPO's credibility.
  15. WTAJ Anchor Patrick Schurr announced via his Facebook page this he will be leaving the station. He starts his new job tomorrow. I, personally, will miss Patrick every morning. His former co-anchor, Amy Mearkle, is still in the community, but does not work in news. It appears at though Schurr is going to do the same thing.
  16. You're welcome. I just sent in about it. Mr. NMSA took what I said about it being the "I love Chicago, Chicago my home" signature and took it very literally.
  17. So it is official, KGPE went HD today... http://www.yourcentralvalley.com/story/trial-begins-for-fcc-teacher-accused-of-assaulting-student/d/story/hw90eLCp3Em9c2RxAwicEw BUT :awesome: apparently no one trained the sound technicians because their facebook page is flooded with comments like... You get the point... apparently the commenters do not because it goes on for dozens of comments... :beat: :beat: :beat: :beat:
  18. It's been floating around. I've heard it... it's not fantastic. SAM could've done much better, but it's still good to hear something non-Gari with the "I Love Chicago, Chicago My Home" signature... How was that sanewsguy?
  19. I can with 99.9% certainty claim that KGPE will be using a totally new music package. I cannot share sources because they are anonymous, but the new theme is slated to be created by Stephen Arnold with the Enforcer signature. I don't know anything more than that at this point. I have sent a message to KGPE's facebook to try and acquire a few more details, but I have gotten nothing back as of yet.
  20. Nexstar and Stephen Arnold have some kind of agreement. All of the Newport stations will be getting a SAM theme soon.
  21. That was like a mix of 2010 WNBC and WPVI with a few tranquilizer darts in it.
  22. WTAJ is doing this in Altoona/Johnstown, PA. I've seen a few more stations do this. I've heard about some stations using a mouse to scroll through trough the teleprompter by themselves at their own speed. Maybe the iPad is the same type of deal.
  23. Prepare yourselves everyone. Purple pants tomorrow.
