  1. Wow! He is the first WJZY employee to voluntarily leave since they joined Fox. Shannon Rauch was let go back in February (thought that was a bit unfair).

Mary Quinn O'Connor left too, but I don't remember seeing her that much on-air.
  2. Who are the sources on wcnc switching over on Saturday? I think it's interesting that they havent done any promos or didn't do any for the new web launch.

Can't say who the source is, but I was talking to them this morning and they said it has been pushed back once again. They're now saying it'll launch next Wednesday, which makes more sense, compared to other Gannett stations. However take it for what you want, because they seem to change the date often. We'll just have to wait and see.

  3. Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I've been out of town for a few days. However I talked with someone, and they said the graphics have been pushed back to July 26th. They were pushed back by Gannett. Like it has been mentioned by other posters, WCNC is now running promos teasing the new website. Not entirely sure of a launch date for that.

  4. WDSU weekend evening anchor/reporter Rachel Wulff has left the station as of June 29. She opted to not renew her contract and may be looking to start a home renovation business with her husband.

Casey Ferrand, Gina Swanson or Blake Hanson to step up?

Isn't Blake Hanson moving to WSOC?

  5. I wonder how much of a change it was.....everything looks the same as it was in widescreen SD (I can't tell from their live stream). Perhaps the switcher or the studio cameras was the only thing keeping them from going full HD.

For anyone in Charlotte, does anything look jagged or upconverted?

I'm actually looking forward to the Gannett graphics. The current ones are very cheap looking, and were drastically different, even compared to all of the old Belo-era graphics. Plus, "Right Here Right Now" will finally be put out of it's misery.

What I notice the most about the change is that the NBC Peacock looks clearer, as well as the weather graphics. I'm hoping that you can notice it more once they switch over to the new graphics.

  6. WCNC is FINALLY going to debut High Definition newscasts later this month. According to the stations Twitter account, they installed the HD cameras this week.
