I happened to catch Story TV late last night (now on KMBC's .3), and they were airing the "end of the world" stuff that appeared on the History Channel 10-12 years ago. After Armageddon, Mayan Mystery and so on...

One of my co-workers will be showing up soon. I don't know what shift she will work. She said PVI tries to match the personality with the shift and existing staff.

New Coke lasted longer.
I feel badly for the employees; I know one who hopped from one Atlanta-based media outlet to produce for CNN+. Maybe she can get her old job back. I don't know.

Rumors of a potential COVID outbreak at 'PVI in Philly. I'm curious if something similar is going on at 30 Rock. I watched NBC News Now's "Morning News Now" this morning. Joe Fryer was in their main studio and Savannah Sellers was at an alternate location within 30 Rock.
Later in the morning NBCNN showed a lot of WNBC shooting coverage. I had no issue with this at all, the local angle is the best angle. Darlene Rodriguez and Michael Garguilo stayed on thru 1pm at the conclusion of their coverage. I know anchors in larger markets are well paid and these longer days are the exception. I just assumed the midday team would come in at some point and take over from Michael and Darlene. Not sure if another anchor was available due to quarantine/exposure or if they diverted all resources to being on the scene in Brooklyn.
Stations in New York and Philadelphia, and to some extent Washington, are having illness problems right now. You don't make people work marathon double shifts in top ten markets unless it is an emergency.

Our San Francisco blogger is reporting meteorologist Joel Bartlett (KPIX, KGO-TV) has died. Bartlett retired in 2006.

Today was Joe Chiodo's last day at KCTV.

Bumped-- BNC will fold.

Given the gossip about toxic workplaces being leaked to the New York media, it's kind of a funny coincidence Norah O'Donnell's "Ted Lasso" story aired tonight.
O'Donnell: "Kindness and positivity can be transformative"
Sudeikis: "And so can the opposite."

I'm sure the rent will be cheaper, plus no earnings tax in the county.

Nexstar is offering the NewsNation live feed to its stations for live Ukraine coverage. I don't know if any stations took it.

New Question…
Just wondering… Has Nexstar started replacing the homegrown proprietary equipment in former Tribune stations (Brutus, Opus, etc.) with standardized and industry compatible equipment? Or are former stations still contending with Tribune white elephants?
Opus is long gone. Stations converted to ENPS pretty quickly after the sale. Master control stuff is taking a lot longer to implement.

Nexstar is doing something like 1,300 live shots this week. The reporter doing our shots had five boxes of mic flags.

I'm surprised it didn't show up elsewhere, but KCTV fired its ND yesterday (first day of sweeps). Gray is bringing in someone from another Gray station starting Monday.

Don't send one-man-band reporters out to do live shots at night on the side of the road-- ever. I don't care if the director was slow in cutting the shot or if the anchor can't see the on-air monitor or if the reporter didn't have a vest. You can't send reporters alone for nighttime live shots, especially on the side of the road.

New weekend meteorologist at WDAF-TV (all five on staff will have AMS seal, I think).
