Here's one of Willard Scott we recorded in 1989 (great-grandma didn't make the cut, sorry)
  4. I don't think much work relief is coming. Tegna, Nexstar, Gray, all three have cut so many jobs over the years, that no other station can spare people to help. Hearst is probably in the best position to do so. I wouldn't even attempt traditional newscasts at traditional times right now. Be mobile, shoot what you can, live stream what you can, put everything on the website and Facebook. Make sure the staff has plenty of time to return to Baton Rouge or Jackson or wherever to charge the batteries and live units for the next day.

This goes back a ways; I think Dobyns retired from TV in the late 1980s. ----- MEBANE, N.C. (AP) - Lloyd Dobyns Jr., an award-winning NBC News correspondent who reported from places around the world and who anchored an innovative U.S. television newscast in the early 1980s, has died, his family said. He was 85. Ken Dobyns said in a statement that his father died Sunday in Mebane, North Carolina, northwest of Raleigh. He said his father suffered complications from a series of strokes. Dobyns worked for NBC News in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and was known in the U.S. for working with Linda Ellerbee on the late-night news series “NBC News Overnight” in 1982 and 1983, according to a statement released by Ken Dobyns and online with a Raleigh funeral home.

  8. Keagan Harsha, formerly of KDVR, soon-to-be ND at a station in Montana, is looking for his stolen U-Haul. https://kdvr.com/news/local/former-fox31-channel-2-anchor-and-reporter-keagan-harshas-u-haul-stolen-on-moving-day/?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_medium=referral
  9. Nexstar announced its purchase of The Hill today (Friday).
  10. It looks like Gray Television is now mandating the COVID-19 vaccine for all employees, not just the new hires. They have a September 15 deadline for managers and October 1 for everyone else.
  11. Former WKYT anchor Miranda Combs is leaving her government communications job to return to TV news as the assistant ND of newsroom start-up WDKY in Lexington.

  13. Every station has to tease NN in their early evening news now-- in news time, with an anchor intro-- not in the break.
  14. NN's new topicals wedged into the local TV station news time are long. An anchor intro is required. The topical itself is around 40-45 seconds. Then you have to slap a full screen with the cable channel directory for News Nation. That's a full minute out of news time. The first one teases Donlon and Vittert. The second one is Vittert and Banfield.
  15. Meanwhile, NewsNation is using local stations to fish for compliments, presumably for future promos.
  16. Our favorite San Francisco blogger says the KRON news director is out.
