  1. Cheers to making it through another Mardi Gras live pic without any FCC violations, although I was nervous about the presence of the nipple glitter sign.
  2. KSHB's Cynthia Newsome has a recurrence of breast cancer. The prognosis looks positive.
  3. Here is WCBI's coverage as the storm approached. They bolted at the 12:45 mark.

  6. Ex-reporter Lisa Benson's discrimination lawsuit against KSHB went to the jury today. So far no verdict...
  7. He put his employer in a poor light and deserved to be fired. I've probably done worse things on the air, but all of it happened before Twitter existed.

  12. This is something. It's in the Seattle Times (paywall), but KCPQ fired an editor for using doctored video of President Trump.
  13. In a temporary schedule switch, KCTV has moved Inside Edition to 4:30 p.m., so they can air Chiefs specials at 6:30. Presumably this will last until the Chiefs lose.

  15. Interesting that in this era of adding newscasts everywhere, KMTV is cutting news. They're dropping midday and 4 (or does that become "The Now" in the future?), as well as early evening weekend shows, but they're tacking on one of those half-hours to the 6:00 p.m..

  17. Sad news from Detroit:
  18. She certainly did. She doesn't post much to social media anymore. I'm guessing she has a new job outside of TV, or she's following the new fiance somewhere.
  19. I know most won't have a WSJ subscription, but the meat of the article is what you would expect. More than 1 million consumers canceled their cable-TV or satellite subscriptions in the past quarter, one of the largest seasonal drops ever, stepping up pressure on pay-TV providers to generate revenue elsewhere. Old-guard companies have turned to streaming services and partnerships with digital video startups to stanch the loss of pay-TV subscribers, yet figures reviewed by The Wall Street Journal show that those tactics have failed to halt the erosion of what used to be one of the entertainment industry’s most profitable businesses. https://www.wsj.com/articles/outlook-for-traditional-tv-goes-from-bad-to-worse-1542632401?mod=hp_lead_pos3
