  1. If Starboard Value gets an ownership stake in Scripps, katy bar the doors.
  2. You know things are FUBAR when Perry Sook emerges as a legitimate white knight.
  3. Here's The Toledo Blade write-up on WNWO's news outsourcing. More here.
  4. It already has. And to celebrate the occasion, WNWO dropped it's 5pm newscast, so they only have news from 5:30a-7a, 6p, 11p and 11p Sunday. Just wait until it becomes another KDNL.
  5. Ehhhhh... meh. I've seen better, but this also isn't the worst thing I've seen.
  6. It sounds like Sinclair inherited a trademark from an experiment by Allbritton to revamp news content for WJLA/NC8 (around the same time their Politico went mainstream). At that time, IIRC, NC8 was even renamed "TBD TV" with a logo just like the speech balloon emoji.
  7. They won't know TBD will be a failure until they start it, and it fails.
  8. And KUIL today operates as a literal extension of KBMT (12.5 and 12.6, respectively).
  9. You're forgetting WGN America. Talk about a hammer S!nclair can use to extort cable companies for every station in the whole damn chain.
  10. I'm so old I remember when KVHP 29 was the default Fox affiliate for Beaumont.
  11. Not to forget, they used the "block" branding in two separate instances - the first circa 2002 with filmed comic sketches in between the early-evening sitcoms (that stunt didn't last long) then as "My43 The Block" with a near-identical logo to the 2002 disaster. CLE43 is still a bad brand, but it's nowhere as horrific as either "block."
  12. Wouldn't someone from the Vindy walked across the hall to 21 NEWS? ////
  13. I'm curious about WLVI... and WADL (Kevin Adell made it public that he would be willing to turn in channel 38 entirely IIRC). It wouldn't surprise me to see groups like OTA quietly either disperse of their stations piecemeal or take them off the air entirely.
  14. WCMZ is also a satellite/repeater station that had no separate staff or operations. The effect would be minimal and CMU gets $20M for what was a $1M investment.
  15. Kudos to Amanda for having the courage to emerge from the shadows. I think it's the first time she'll be seen in public since a guest appearance at shock jock Shane "Rover" French's annual day-long music festival (in 2013, not long after her mind-boggling emancipation with Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight, the latter of which has become a very public advocate for the abducted and abused).
  16. Been that way since Saints owner Tom Benson purchased the station from Emmis (remember that he still owns it; Raycom has an SSA).
  17. Same with Scripps, whose flagship is WCPO** and their largest station is WXYZ. **Not to be confused with WEWS, which was named after the company founder but has been treated like a red-headed stepchild for ages...
  18. True. JP Dice is also highly popular in his own right, so that would make for a heck of a tag-team combo.
  19. The second Spann leaves WBMA+, their news department becomes DOA. Given his past history at WVTM, it would be a coup for Hearst to snatch him.
  20. And was later seen pitching for Hungry Jack biscuits. "In the refrigerated dough center..."
  21. I'm surprised that a legacy media company like Hearst didn't develop a TV syndication service.
  22. Wow. KOMO just lost their entire investigative unit. Looks like S!nclair is starting Clear Channel-esque bloodletting.
  23. ABC is under contract to run DCRNYE until 2024. Seacrest is a virus, but he's still popular for some reason or another.
  24. A few of my Twitter friends watched Star Wars Episode VI starting at 10:10PM... timed so that the Death Star explodes at midnight.
