  1. The radar map for KSHB most definitely changed and is similar to KJRH's. I preferred the old one, however, as it looked more realistic. The new one seems to take vegetation and falsely enhances it (kind of like a false-color pic from NASA) and makes everything look too green. Also not the biggest fan of the new radar sweep.
  2. Additionally, those new weather graphics are from WSI Max. KSHB upgraded to WSI Max last month. Guess Scripps is updating all of their stations to it. I thought KSHB was being special because they had their old program since they went HD back in 2008 and it became incredibly slow.
  3. It's alright. I don't really like how "static" it is just holding the image of 30 Rock, and I think the names are a little flashy and the font makes it look tabloid. I also prefer the old headline graphics. However it does still look cool. The open almost conveys a since of power.
  4. Well it seems that the Today Show got a new open this morning. Don't have a recording or anything of it though. Not only do they have a new open, but it seems as if they have new animations/transitions as well.
  5. KSHB ain't havin' it. http://imgur.com/O0QYnCl
  6. Wow I completely messed that one up. Never caught the mistake, thanks.
  7. Apparently Joel Nichols of KSHB is getting his own late night show that will air at midnight after the Tonight Show. https://www.facebook.com/kshbtv/videos/vb.68122026189/10152766702006190/?type=2&theater
  8. What kind of shake up...? Why would they do this? KMBC has been doing well in the ratings, so why would they change what's been working?
  9. a few weeks ago? was there no non-compete clause he had to live out, or were those "few weeks" it? How long ago was "a few weeks ago" anyway
  10. Man, if they've gone without an anchor for all of these months only to bring back Mike...
  11. Unlikely. They've wrecked KSHB. The only two Scripps stations I'm aware of that actually do well in their market are WCPO and definitely WPTV. WKBW is on the up-and-up, but when you were in as poor shape as they were before Scripps took over, you have nowhere to go BUT up. Either way, I do believe that Scripps is slowly destroying itself from the inside out. They're going to learn this the hard way, yet will still look up when it all falls through and ask "what did we do wrong?"
  12. KSHB was actually winning the 5 and 6pm and was a solid second at 4pm before The NOW was implemented. Now they're stuck with it and there's nothing they can do. So KSHB HAS had success, and would have been able to sustain that success if it wasn't for, and I will forever attest this, the NOW. Going from first to last after the NOW started airing isn't a coincidence. As for Mark Clegg, who the hell knows. I don't even think they know anymore at this point. The job positing is still up, so they're obviously still looking, but apparently haven't found what they want yet. Evidently it's not NOW host Justin Wilfon or else they would have just named him his replacement by now. He anchors the 6pm every night with Jadiann. On a fact checking note, Clegg left last July, so I don't think the opening has been open for over a year.
  13. In addition to expanding their Saturday 6pm to an hour. My biggest question is, why the mornings? KSHB's morning show rates abysmally the way it is, fighting with KCTV to not be last, so to expand their news and have a newscast at 7am on KMCI makes little sense. KMBC's extended morning news on KCWE rates terribly. WDAF is the only one that pulls in good numbers at that time. In other Kansas City news, Karen Fuller of KCTV is gone.
  14. Can WINK not think of anything original anymore?
  15. What makes it so bad is the fact that they have a hand-held camera that's apparently mandated to be constantly moving and have weird, dizzying camera shots, and half of what the Now airs, at least here in KC, is a bunch of irrelevant fluff that normally wouldn't ever make the news. The national segments seem forced and, again, focus on topics that aren't important to viewers (such as secrets about the latest iPad!). I also don't think that the national segments host (forget her name) isn't good enough to be doing something on the national level. It's not serious and it was never meant to be a serious newscast. They meant for it to be lighter and to be more social than a traditional newscast and, at least here in KC, it's failed miserably.
  16. Maybe they'll start making changes to The NOW next...such as cancelling it.
  17. Well here's the promo... http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/the-today-show-super-bowl-ad-unveiled/254169
  18. compared to this, the old one was so much better
  19. Maybe Murray brothers are just bad people to date. Anyway...
  20. I mean, she could just be saying it, but based off of her comment of "I'm loving my career in Kansas City," she seems to be fairly happy here. Though that comment is followed up by "I’m really committed to being a part of this community for the time being." That could mean that the moment her contract is up, she's outta here. I also find it funny how bitter Philly people seem to be about her leaving Philly to come to 'lowly' Kansas City.
  21. 'Today' shot their first ever Super Bowl commercial that will air during the...Super Bowl. Take from that what you will. http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/nbcs-today-show-team-shoots-super-bowl-ad/252578
  22. Wow! And to think, a few months ago we were pondering him being a possible replacement anchor for Mark Clegg.
  23. Flashy with the names just like Times Square, although surprisingly simple. Is this the first time that they've displayed names like that?
  24. In the world of Kansas City: Johnny Kane is leaving as sports director of KMBC to go work for Fox Sports Detroit. Why they never promoted veteran Karen Kornacki to sports director way back when and why they don't just do it this time around I don't know. KSHB assistant news director Matt Brown is headed to Tampa Bay's WFTS to be their news director
  25. Didn't see this mentioned anywhere, but Jim Kosek is leaving KCTV to be the new chief meteorologist down at WGCL. He's only been at KCTV for five months!
