  1. List add to the list of retirements why don't we? KWCH's Roger Cornish is going to call it quits. http://www.kansas.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/carrie-rengers/article209483434.html 41 years, six months, and 13 days he said. His dad, wife, and son all worked there at some point. Wow.
  2. On NO. That logo has been blue since the dawn of time. WHY would they mess with it now? Not only that, but put it in a box? Seriously?
  3. Can I put this year? There are so many Sinclair threads I don't know anymore. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2018/4/22/ouch
  4. KLKN is losing its entire sports department. All three of them will be gone by the end of the summer. Their contracts all came up within a couple month span of each other. To be clear, they're not shutting down the sports dept, just completely rehiring it.
  5. Are they still using some now bastardized version of Look A?
  6. An important thing to note here is that all of these stations are owned by the same company. They're not pulling a meteorologist from a Scripps station to fill in from a Hearst station, they're pulling people from within the company but who are at different stations.
  7. KLKN got temporarily knocked off the air after a semi turned into a power pole. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1832423270123445
  8. What would have stopped Scripps from giving stations the resources necessary to produce it though? I know for KSHB at least they've hired reporters to specifically report for the Now.
  9. I still don't understand how some Scripps stations managed to avoid the Now plague. It sort of started like that, then ratings tanked and they tried to make it more localized. Clearly, that also didn't work, so they're gonna go back to the original premise and hope things are differen't the third time around.
  10. How's that any different than Nightly News or Today being hosted from the Olympics host city?
  11. I know a sports guy who didn't have two consecutive days off for a month. He also worked almost every single day for an entire month. But, management was nice and gave him comp days for all that extra time worked, so he enjoyed a nice 2 week vacation later.
  12. They're also veteran network talent. That job isn't for the feint of heart or the weak. They know they're going to be worked hard and they know they'll be traveling internationally, sometimes with last-minute notice. Could they maybe utilize resources better? Sure, everyone could.
  13. it gets worse. He was told to stay off of school property. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2018/2/21/weatherman-was-told-to-stay-off-school-property
  14. Has no one mentioned KCCI meteorologist Frank Scaglione apparently soliciting minors? He's no longer employees, and it sounds like management isn't telling their employees much either. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/crime-and-courts/2018/02/19/kcci-tv-des-moines-meteorologist-accused-inappropriate-behavior-snapchat-twitter-frank-scaglione/350171002/
  15. Wait, so they're moving their studios 60 miles away? Ok.
  16. It's also silly because WXYZ is one of their original stations. Scripps would be insane to sell off one of the originals. Not to mention they love ABC. They'd more likely sell of some NBC and CBS stations.
  17. jesus is that bug big enough? Hearst would be jealous, they got out-Hearsted.
  18. ...why? Didn't their 6:30 show basically rate hashmarks?
  19. Mike Rawlins of KRTV is making a huge step up to WNBC. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/krtv-chief-meteorologist-heads-to-wnbc/199669
  20. So was Katie oblivious, or did Matt and other men just treat her better?
  21. "Sorry guys I had a burrito for lunch. Should not have had it extra spicy."
  22. Maybe it's intentional. Maybe they want to seem like they're giving us the news straight, cut, and to the point without seeming like they're hyping it up. That would suit their historical mantra.
  23. KSHB's chief met Gary Lezak formally came out. It was one of Kansas City's worst kept secrets. Still a very sincere post. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=2308536252505958
  24. Yeah what's the point of that? "Here are the stories we covered in the show, just a refresher." And the movement with the music (beginning and end), while unique, is pretty fast paced and can be a bit disorienting.
