  1. An excellent choice. His pickup of Schitt's Creek for Pop TV (along with its subsequent surge in popularity on Netflix) and especially its cleanup at the 2020 Primetime Emmys for its final season make him a perfect candidate.
  2. How pathetic. She was once on 60 Minutes. What a fall from grace if I've ever seen it.
  3. Oh wow. I'm gonna miss it; I used to love watching it for the quick forecasts and (especially) the music.
  4. It is. There is a South African version, but the one I usually see on TV is the Canadian original.
  5. I've aired my grievance before about Brenda Blackmon and Kaity, and I'll say something similar about Muller. It's a disappointment that his tenure in the evenings didn't last (while Tamsen Fadal's still there) and that he was pushed off to weekends (and she wasn't). They should've kept John on weekdays and demoted her. I previously found Tamsen an okay anchor, but now I must ask... What do they see in her? Why is she still where she is? And what is so important about her that the execs insist she's their main face of their news op -- when better is right in front of them? Does she have an ironclad contract or something?
  6. This new graphics package looks incredible and blow the last one out of the water; it's not even close. The video updates in the set took my breath away too; all of this make the program look much better. Well done to everyone involved.
  7. This open looks much better than I previously thought, and I was looking forward to it from the get-go. Great to hear the '87 theme once again as well; sounds as great as the last times.
  8. Wow. This is a huge deal. I like this. I'm sure the stations do too.
  9. Ryan Kadro, former EP of CBS This Morning (and the successor of now-Chairman and CEO Chris Licht), is joining CNN as SVP of Content Strategy and Development. One of his first roles is overseeing a new or revamped morning show, according to a source. https://deadline.com/2022/08/ryan-kadro-cnn-content-strategy-1235095805/
  10. I'm aware and I alluded to that. I'm also aware, thanks. I actually thought about the branding (the history of which I'm too aware) this morning before and after the news and totally agree. They don't even have to get a new logo; just freshen up that very one.
  11. Nexstar CFO Lee Ann Gliha has said that the company plans to make the network a more cost-effective platform with "cheaper" programming for a broader audience, with a goal of profitability by 2025. No specifics were given. https://deadline.com/2022/08/the-cw-will-become-profitable-network-2025-broader-cheaper-programming-nexstar-1235092173/
  12. Wow. Maybe in a better world, the CW brand name doesn't carry over, and WGN America makes a comeback. But that's wishful thinking. I can see either happening, but WPHL picking up the network is the most logical scenario. At least it gets to be O&O again instead of just an affiliate (and a barely recognized one one at that).
  13. Reposting what I wrote originally on the "NBC News Daily" thread: Even after the cancellations of All My Children and One Life to Live, this move genuinely shocks me because I really thought soap operas still have some staying power on television in this day and age. But it's a much better fate for it than cancellation, assuming by the success it's spinoff Beyond Salem has on Peacock.
  14. It's official: AFG is joining the Hot Topics table as a full-time co-host for Season 26. And in a pleasant surprise, so is Ana Navarro. The View will now have six co-hosts. https://deadline.com/2022/08/the-view-co-hosts-ana-navarro-and-alyssa-farah-griffin-1235085081/ Sunny Hostin also signed a multi-year, multi-million dollar deal to stay as co-host https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/sunny-hostin-the-view-renewal-deal-2022-1235332759/
  15. TBF there's a much better chance of those other soaps streaming on Pluto TV or the like because Comcast/NBCUniversal most likely wouldn't spend money to revive or license long-cancelled soaps they don't own outight no matter how long they last on it, even if P&G makes a good offer for them. Plus, you can easily find full episodes across several decades of each show (possibly without ads) on YouTube.

  17. Plans are finalizing for the 2023 season. New cities Las Vegas, Orlando and San Antonio join the list of eight franchises -- replacing L.A., NYC and Tampa. Kickoff is on February 18. https://www.espn.com/xfl/story/_/id/34290066/las-vegas-orlando-san-antonio-new-cities-join-xfl https://deadline.com/2022/07/xfl-2023-season-cities-teams-coaches-1235076488/
  18. I know all that. I'm sure she would too. I only put it that there to emphasize on the underlined (that the debut would be delayed) because it was interesting at the time. Same here.
  19. As featured in this article from NewscastStudio, there were plans to transition the weather segment branding from 'Eyewitness Weather' to the "Next Weather" branding currently used at WFOR, WBZ and WCCO in the near future, but they were put on hold due to the hiring of Kathy Gerrow as news director. "NewscastStudio sources say that KYW in Philadelphia was also preparing to switch to “Next Weather” as well, but a recent news director hire may have put a halt or pause on those plans" Also in the article is this tidbit about the new set: "KYW is also anchoring from a temporary location as a new set is installed in its primary studio, but that debut may be delayed as leadership changes."
  20. I totally doubt it. Considering he worked closely with her many times during his decade+ with CBS (as said in the linked article), my guess is she more than probably won't and he'll last longer than that.
  21. Adam Verdugo has been named the new executive producer of the CBS Evening News. He replaces the retiring interim EP Al Ortiz.
  22. New President Chris Licht says he wants to cut down on using the "Breaking News" chyron. Personally, I support this completely.
  23. Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki will officially join MSNBC this fall, with a show on The Choice (on Peacock), appearances across its lineup & NBC News programs and a role during coverage of the next midterm and presidential elections.
