  1. I just saw an opening for WTSP news on YouTube. Too hip or suave or something. Not urgent enough. I wonder what their SR openings are going to be like. But again, I love the logo.
  2. Off topic, but "42 Freway?" That sounds very SoCal, not SoJerz. Anyhow, I do like that traffic ticker, but it goes slightly fast. and concerning the "10" logo for WTSP, I like it in general.I used to live there, but forget what it looked like from 91-93. I love the shapes, and I love going back to the past, like KFMB 8 here in San Diego.
  3. I saw the tail end of tonight's interruption about more MN violence. I was looking for info about the same near San Diego, but no one was covering it on TV at that moment. I'm going to have to look again at this package on YouTube, if they have it on there yet. I do like the thick strokeweight of "SPECIAL REPORT". It looks really good. And it distances ABC from NBC. Their SR opens/closes had very similar fonts for a while IIRC. Orange is unorthodox, but I think it looks OK. I do wish "SPECIAL REPORT" were all in white, though. There's something rather urgent in my mind about it. As for blue background, I like it. Red reminds me of an EAS test I saw on a Columbus, OH station in 2003 ahead of a USWNT soccer match I went there for. Urgent, yes, but more suited for an emergency requiring evacuation or other action. I am sick of "breaking news". There is so much within the confines of a newscast that it just doesn't phase me anymore. So to brand what I always knew as a "special report" or, less commonly, a "bulletin", as just "breaking news"? If I am busy tweeting for facebooking or what have you, I'm not going to aurally tune in as automatically as if I hear the words "SPECIAL REPORT" for an interruption of a non-news show.
  4. Wow. Never seen that CBS SR slide. Been watchingthe Kobe events on NBC 7.
  5. Oh, dear. I'm not on the thread I thought I was. Sorry.
  6. I'm just waking up to WKYC (3, Cleveland) having changed their logo. Looks like they went modern minimalist like 19. I still have to watch an actual newscast. I'm on raw footage right now.
  7. I just went to their website tonight. Just randomly, kind of. I do have lots of extended family out there, so as soon as I find the link to their newscast, I'll need to catch up. Overall, I really like the new "19" logo, and I like even more that there's no longer two different "19"s in two different fonts. That was always a bit triggering.
  8. Jessica Starr, a weather personality for the Fox affiliate in Detroit, MI, was reported in Twitter to have died by suicide. https://twitter.com/i/moments/1073209930365181952
  9. I was following on an Anchorage radio station. I had thought all the stations were knocked off air. Is it all one multiopoly (if that's even a thing, like a duopoly, but more stations)?
  10. Interesting! Never knew this was in the works, but this is nice. I'll need to √√ my avatar. Seems like some have been skewed.
  11. I love that site. I never took corporate art classes at school, but I think it's a fascinating form of art (as a lot of us do, obvs). I always figured 95 % of the replies were from students, but maybe there's more schmucks like me from the rest of the world who had to once look up "kerning". Not sure if any of you are soccer fans, but I'm waiting for them to dissect the new USL structure. But back on track, I like the new logo. It's quite dynamic and non-boring.
  12. Is this like the defacto San Diego catch all thread? I noticed Sheena Parveen joining NBC 7 weather. Anybody know about her. Seems young. ETA: nm. Worked in Tampa Bay, Phila., and recently DC.
  13. I'm watching WECP (CBS 18) on WJHG (NBC 7) Panama City/eastern panhandle. I had watched this station a few months ago while researching Highway 30A, a big tourist area in that DMA. New graphics for both 7 and 18. New staff, too? Anybody live in the eastern panhandle? It's actually pretty good to watch. https://www.wjhg.com/livestream3
  14. I was watching a CONCACAF Women's Championship soccer match on FS2 and it suddenly (and against the schedule shown on COX Cable) went over to FS1 with about an hour left of a block on FS2. Things like that annoy me. What if the reverse happened? That said, I do watch much more on FS than ESPN these days.
  15. I'm a Cox subscriber and this is the first time I've punched in "13" on the remote. I know I'm behind, but it looks like MNTV has left "13" (49) and gon to...not even a subchannel of 8 but just a latenight block of programming on 8.1. Or something. Can't say I've ever bothered with that network. Not sure I can name a single show.
