  1. Kinda like KTIV's version of the Proud N logo. Thier unique take on that NBC 1979-86 logo if you will. You know, where the wireframe N logo is replace with the 4 log at that time.
  2. Also used on WTVJ in the 1980s during its days as a CBS affiliate on Channel 4 (now NBC-owned affiliate on Channel 6)
  3. When you unearth something rare, never-before-seen-until-now, and awesome, that REALLY makes my day! KIRO CBS7 stuff from the 1970s never before seen on YouTube until now was a real treat. KIRO's use of Telesound's Classical Gas was more kick-ass!
  4. Now here's a FOX NEWS intro like we've never seen before. This was a pre-Roger Ailes period. The FOX 1994-96 ID with the word NEWS at the bottom. Rupert Murdoch haven't created the news division YET. He did created one a year later in 1996, alongside co-founder Roger Ailes, who was the news division's President and CEO. FOX News Channel wasn't to compete with CBS, ABC or NBC news. It was actually to compete against CNN, the granddaddy of all cable news channels. Now, check out this FOX News Special Report direct from one of FOX's O&O stations in our nation's capital (WTTG FOX 5 Washington). BEFORE Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch founded the news division.
  5. Speaking of Good News from Frank Gari, there is this promo song (as seen in this WAGA example) that makes me think of Let's All Be There, which was NBC's promo campaign from 1984 until 1986 when they got the then-new and current peacock.
  6. Little did we know that WTSP would become a sister station to KPNX in 1995. Not to mention the switch from ABC to CBS to go with Gannett buying Channel 10. A connection to Jineane Ford right there. Both KPNX and WTSP are owned by Gannett (now Tegna)
  7. Loved how he ended his edition of Sunday Morning. We'll All Be Back Again Next Sunday Morning. Until then, I'll See You On The Radio. In other words, you can hear Charlie on his show The Osgood File weekday mornings on your local CBS radio affiliate. I started hearing his radio program every morning on KVOR NewsTalk Radio in my hometown of Colorado Springs, especially when getting ready for school. Enjoyed waking up to him on my TV set every Sunday morning as well. I was in junior high when Osgood took over for another Charles. That is, Charles Kurault. Osgood will be missed a great deal!
  8. Yes the logo at the end DOES look comic-book-like. In fact, this news open almost looks as if this was made for a live action kids show instead of a local newscast
  9. After 16 years of the network's existence, this looks like a logo refresh. Made the CW logo a BOLD type
  10. Let's hope Move Closer to Your World doesn't get yanked off the air. And let's hope those Happy People visuals don't go away either. All in favor of those new ABC O&O graphics for WPVI newscasts. Remember 1996 when all of Philly went apeshit over the symphonic version of MCTYW, which lasted five days on the air? Let's hope there are no riots in the streets when WPVI makes a visual refresh.
  11. Looks like a contemporary take on those 70s promos from fellow ABC affiliates (not O&Os). Here's one from WTAE Pittsburgh (Hearst-owned ABC station) And here's another one past the 3:38 mark from WEWS Cleveland (Scripps-owned ABC affiliate) Watching that Brian Taff/Rick Williams promo did give off that vibe for me
  12. Yep, today marks the 22nd anniversary of the tragic events that took place on September 11th, which continue to evoke deep emotions within us. Undoubtedly, this was the pivotal day that changed our lives forever.
  13. Introducing the latest addition to the ATVB Archives YouTube Channel, the 1991 10pm newscast from KMGH Denver, previously affiliated with CBS but now with ABC. This particular broadcast was delayed 50 minutes due to the CBS Sports broadcast of the 1991 World Series, which went on longer.
  14. Heard this song past the 5:03 mark, the 13:44 mark, the open at the 14:29 mark, and the 28:42 mark Is it a piece of production music, or part of the Michael Randall's NewsCenter package that NBC12 was using at the time?
  15. According to the Nielsen website (CLICK HERE), the majority of us Americans are streaming MORE than watching OTA and Cable TV. Most people aren't coming home to watch the local newscasts on TV. People get their news online. Gone are the days of local newscasts at convenient viewing times. How are local stations getting with the times? I tried finding local stations to stream live on my ROKU TV but no luck there. I do know that Paramount+ not only lets me stream CBS shows, but there's a way to watch my local CBS affiliate LIVE with commercials with my subscription. On the Peacock streaming service, I discovered that for $10 more a month, I could stream my local NBC affiliate LIVE.
  16. KYW has the colors of Philadelphia Eagles KDKA has the colors of the Steelers WBBM with the Bears colors Looks like the CBS is having its O&Os try NFL team color schemes. Got a feeling that KCNC will be on the list, and they'll be using Broncos-colored CBS graphics for KCNC
  17. How about bringing back that classic Group W 3 logo?
  18. At KYW Philadelphia - RIP Eyewitness News! The birth station of the format that became widespread across America (including four other CBS O&Os that are former Group W stations) gave up EWN, and now, CBS News Philadelphia is taking its place. This is the second time KYW ditched the Eyewitness News name. The first time was from 1991 until 1998. After a seven-year ditch, KYW brought it back, only to be dumped again this year 25 years later. Probably the LAST CBS O&O and former Group W/Westinghouse station to dump the EWN brand.
  19. WLFI Channel 53 - aka Chattanooga CW - aired roller derby If the CW's upcoming sports division is gonna get some national presence, how about throwing roller derby into the mix, as well as WNFC women's tackle football? Instead of that LIV golf, which could create some backlash from what I've read so far. Those two are neglected sports that (a) don't get much television exposure as in live games like the NFL, NHL, MLB and NBA and (b) never get any highlights during the sports segment on the local news. Make those two sports a part of CW SPORTS
  20. Not too long, WSB's Newsroom became what is known as ACTION NEWS, which it still is today. As for the Newsroom branding, after a two-year hiatus, it moved to WXIA when it became 11ALIVE, which is also still is today. 1976 was the year WXIA resurrected the Newsroom branding to become 11 Alive Newsroom.
  21. Wouldn't be too long until Channel 13 became WNYT and an NBC affiliate. As for CBS, it went to where NBC used to be, which was WRGB channel 6. It was a swaparoony. Moreover, that news theme was Good Company by deWolfe Music, which was also heard on KPRC Houston during its Big 2 News days.
  22. Past the 1:45 mark, you get to see the closing of NewsWatch 4 from Denver's KOA-TV (now KCNC) from 1980. The news theme package was TuesdayG from Tuesday Productions. Wasn't too long before NewsWatch4 was rebranded as NewsCenter4 later that year.
  23. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm one of the majority of folks that stream an awful lot. I watch very little broadcast TV. I stream my favorite CBS shows on Paramount Plus. I stream some ABC shows on Hulu too. However, I do long for the days of old-school TV news. Where I'm educated and informed without a lot of sensationalism, partisan politics and negativity. I wonder how many local stations are adapting to the idea of streaming local newscasts, where everybody can watch the news at their own convenience.
  24. Looking at the drone footage again, that beautiful drone shot flying away from the red 13 transmitting tower (with the Houston skyline in the background) would make a great ABC13 news close. All KTRK has to do is throw in the copyright tag in the lower 3rd, and they have themselves a news close.
