  1. Stefan Holt is likely going to be off for paternity leave (not sure what the Comcast(NBCU policy is) because his wife gave birth to their second child last week.
  2. But wouldn’t they also likely have the primary NewsOne feeds as sources as well?
  3. At the time WABC may not have been feeding CNN or uplinking the feeds yet to ABC News One. We’re they taking a simulcast or just footage? ABC and CBS subscribe to CNN NewSource so they can take anything they want that isn’t embargoed - even if it’s a competitor station. Say KGO has footage from a car chase from KABC but KCBS has a better angle/PQ they can take that.
  4. The started this patriotic broadcasting with the flags during the broadcast and in the background of their sets.
  5. I’d like to know if it was a radar indicated tornado warning or a tornado that was spotted on the ground? If it was radar indicated but no NWS spotters saw anything they decided to cut away.
  6. It’s ridiculous there should have been continued coverage throughout the Warning. The same thing happened last week with tornadoes in the NYC DMA - WNBC only cut in during commercials. It seemed to be the bare minimum of coverage and I assume NBC didn’t want any preemptions.
  7. Here’s a better floor plan I’d say courtesy of the City of Chicago in 2015 (p. 6).
  8. Is the NIC marked area the studio or the big white space next to what looks like a ramp?
  9. Okay is this normal for so many people to retire at once? WJZ named 10 people by the anchors and ran a full credits roll with Ocean City, MD scenes. CBS This Morning had 18 people leaving/retiring and at the Evening News had 30. I’d assume the two network shows were results of the shows are relaunching and the stations were the buy outs that were occurring. I guess the buyouts had people end on a certain date.
  10. Seems like the place to put this but during a recent opt during BBC Breakfast for Points West there was an odd failure. The presenters voice could be heard but on screen was a still image of a man in suspenders, wearing a hanker-chief on his neck and making a weird face in front of a green screen. After about 24 seconds they abruptly cut to the BBC London opt.
  11. Here’s a direct link to the listing. Heres the blueprint taken directly from the lease brochure. It appears that it’s pretty much the former studio space and doesn’t include bathrooms unless that’s what’s along the diagonal line. I assume that one big white area next what looks like a garage ramp is the current studio. Are these blacked out windows (where the supposed LED screen was to be) part of the CBS space or the second floor of the listing?
  12. Not sure if it was anything but on Insta stories KYW’s Jessica Kartalija had a meeting at the Vernick Coffee Bar for a “business meeting”. The coffee bar is located in the Comcast Technology Center and posted a picture of the Universal Sphere (a 4D experience that’s being tested there and will be rolled out at the theme parks).
  13. No duras in the DC studio, all monitor walls. But my little birdie told me they are trying to find a second area for a set for the EN.
  14. Always keep in mind this is premiere week ratings. Let’s give it a month.
  15. JJ Ramberg formerly of MSNBC has a special coming up soon on BBC World News called Follow The Food. Not sure if she is a correspondent or she sold them the show. Also, WJZ finally got the wide screen version of the graphics however it looks like it was just a straight replacement of the background image (where the grey bar reaches the bug). None of the text elements extend beyond the previous 4:3 safe zone.
  16. Wise word: it’s best not to have spouses working for the same company or at the very minimum same show (however for a year or so Tony was a general correspondent/maybe freelancer for MSNBC). If the shows cancelled both are out of work or if they both decide to leave the networks screwed. Scott at FTVLive has preached this for ages don’t two married anchor teams or situations where both work together. I have a suspicion MSNBC will try to keep Katy Tur for as long as they can. She’s one of their rising stars. Edit: Joe and Mika I would say are an exception to the rule. By all accounts they didn’t start a relationship until well into the shows life. However I think msnbc will be doing whatever they can to keep them on air (despite lower ratings compared to Fox & Friends they do get a lot of views from politicos and politicians from both sides) and they already are such as accommodating their broadcast from Florida’s with both coming from an at home two camera insert studio (so Joe can legally live half the year in Florida and not pay property taxes).

  18. I’m not sure if it’s official but WJZ is running a promo of their anchor teams and at night it showed Vic Carter and Rick Ritter. Ricks been covering that shift since Mary Bubala was fired. However the Nicole Baker/Rick Ritter combo that’s going on for a few weeks wasn’t featured. Today it was Denise and Rick at 5. They also may want to update his bio. https://baltimore.cbslocal.com/personality/rick-ritter/
  19. I think they did that to show people they are focusing on news from everywhere - not just the major cities.
  20. One thing I thought was neat were the logos in I think the news to watch segment. Surprisingly the big O&Os weren’t featured prominently in the “pupil” of the eye - but smaller stations like KOVR and WJZ. However it appeared all the owned stations were represented along with some smaller affiliates it appeared.
  21. I’m surprised there was such a short no compete. She left mid February sweeps and joins mid May sweeps - three months. I thought the standard was six months or more. Maybe other talent is longer but seeing as she was a traffic reporter they may not have cared. I am slightly curious if and how much the move to CTC impacted her choice. I know dayside employees need to take public transit but I’m not sure what morning employees do. If they have to take public transit at such an hour I could see people looking for other options.
  22. Out of interest say you were fired from a Nexstar station (and I assume you can’t apply to others) what would happen if you were employed by Tribune but was in good standing? Could they fire you again?
  23. It’s just a slate to easily identify the open being used. Looking at the other videos it appears it just slipped through.
  24. It probably wasn’t on the Justice Network’s end. They transmit the network in good quality. However KUSA has the main NBC network in HD to carry and three SD sub channels. Chances are there’s not enough bandwidth in the pipe for a good quality signal for each sub channels. The NBC feed will get use the most data out of the pipe and the rest are divided up as needed. However I can guarantee that if KUSA is carrying NFL or high motion sports all the sub channels will suffer. If it’s low motion things like a newscast you might notice an improvement on the other channels.
