How much do we want to bet the WABC will have the same opens as WLS?
-
I'm not a fan. It's very cluttered!
Update: Has anyone looked at the LIN sites? They are what I want to see at Gannett! The sites are very clean, not cluttered, the menuing system in very nice (especially the no-scroll function) and I also love how they have a unique station background and that it stays in place!
Examples:
-
I don't like the site. It's a cluttered mess. They have overwhelmed this new site with too many photos. I don't like the blue box to the left and the dark gray 'Right Now' column to the right is nice, but A. Needs to be lighter and B. Needs a fine separation from the main column.
I think that Gannett could have modified the menu of the current site to do the exact same thing! The current design is cleaner.
-
Wow. Comparing this to the current sites azcentral.com (Arizona Republic + KPNX) would have a very hard time switching to this layout. It's Gannett's only newspaper-TV duopoly IIRC.
In Fort Collins. Colorado Gannett owns the Coloradoan which falls under the same market as KUSA.

Gannett stations are rolling out a new website design: See the test market at WBIR: http://www.wbir.com

Oy vey...JUST GET NEW GRAPHICS!
I seriously think it's time.
-
Okay, I haven't been a big fan of the new 7-day graphic, but oh, this is a boatload of sexy...
It has some nice aspects, but A. The ABC logo needs to be updated to the new version and B. The Background needs to be replaced with a lake in order for the reflection to work effectively.

Here is the new WABC Top Story graphic, with new ABC7 logo, which aired at 5:30 pm today.
CBS knocks off NBC Look F and WABC knocks off Scripps? Well at least the latter is fitting as the majority of the Scripps stations are ABC affiliates.

Here's something interesting- their Facebook name might be "WABC-TV Channel 7 Eyewitness News" but they recently changed their Facebook web address to "Facebook.com/ABC7NY" ... I think they must be working on a web rebranding ... So far Facebook & Instagram have been rebranded... Twitter might be an issue because if the change their handle, their verification status is automatically removed, and they would have to wait to be reverified.
Hey. Go to http://abc7NY.com. Guess where that gets you!
I read their minds.
-
WABC already uses Eyewitness News on Twitter- as their actual name. Their @ is "EyewitnessNYC" ... But they did change their Instagram to "ABC7NY"
Thank you for proving my sanity!
-
Yeah...
"WABC-TV Channel 7 Eyewitness News" is a little wordy for their Facebook page.
Drop the TV and Channel. Now it becomes "WABC 7 - Eyewitness News". I think that sounds sharp.
-
Well that is certainly not Charlie Van Dyke.
-
If they put everything under "7online", shouldn't their hashtag be "#7online" instead of "#EyewitnessNews"?
"#EyewitnessNews"... Yeah. Totally propiety to WABC. KYW uses... Oh yeah. EyewitnessNews too.
And wouldn't searching for "7online" on Facebook and Twitter easily direct to their pages? No.
7online? Seriously??? Why not ABC7ny.com? Oh wait! They own that... That makes far more sense. (@ABC7NY #ABC7NY, What's the big deal?! Better Branding)
I think they chose 7Online for those people who were not familiar with computers to access their website on a computer. Makes no sense!

I am guessing this week because of the new fall season. Just my guess
Against the new CBS graphics! Smart move. I can see people comparing the 2 graphic packages.

#IDGAF!!!!
It's been a staple at the station for a long time and Dumbo Idler continues to do all these stupid changes. And as I said before, he's been doing these changes not for the better, but for the worst. Why get rid of something that's have been there for a long time. All he cares about is trying to slowly change the aspect of the station, looking more like a carbon copy of an O&O from out east, while kissing Rebecca Campbell's ass in the process.
Simple answer. Revenue stream. I get the sense that Disney is preparing the network for sale by putting it in the best financial position first. Yes, WLS could show evening movie classics, or they could show paid advertisements and bring in some more revenue. You must ask yourself this question: Which brings in more revenue in the wee hours of a weekday? A 30 minute advertisement (contiguous cash influx) or a classic movie which requires financing, albeit low, and a few advertisements (noncontinuous cash influx) during the movie breaks?
I realize that WLS has personally attacked your viewing habits, and a tradition has disappeared, but realize that you are night owl and that the majority of Market 3 is not awake with you, but when people are, WLS would prefer to make a bit of easy money (automated) then spend it.
Personally, this is a smart move.

I agree.
As I've said on a different thread: It looks regressive!
Do you think that we could have something a little more like the 2007 version, and an extruded abc text?
-
It feels very awkward and the graphics look poorly produced.

Why are the anchors on FOX5 always using the scroll wheel on that mouse pad?
I don't notice anchors on the other newscasts doing anything similar.

Is it a clever way to scroll the teleprompter?
