Poppy was professional as to not even peep during this back and forth. A commenter on the tweet said it perfectly “someone who is not black describing the black experience and incorrectly would be very frustrating. I think his style is more suited to prime time than a perky morning show.” I’m with Don on this one. I too wouldn’t let someone spout lies to me and think they’re not going to be corrected. It’s too bad people are so soft these days. They had a disagreement, they didn’t get nasty and even shook hands at the end. What else do people want? We don’t always have to agree, but we should, at the very least, keep it civil.

Mary Yoon at KTLA? please! She has ZERO personality. She’d be a better fit with the FAA or an airline meteorologist.

KABC does this during the 11am show sometimes; I find it annoying because this is market 2. Yes it’s actually raining rn, but how much can the weather change over the course of a couple hours? If we were in Chicago where the weather really does change and alerts need to be issued, the taped forecast would be unbelievable. Hopefully KTLA has a live report tonight.

That part! They might as well call the 10pm news The Mike Rodgers Show. He kept popping up with the most annoying updates; we don’t need to know every time a tree topples over in LA. At a minimum they should have a breaking news anchor. This guy Mike doesn’t appear to be a trained broadcaster nor educated as a journalist; his grammar was the worst. To someone’s point above, this is LA, not Podunck, Iowa.

A look at what’s to come

I’m surprised no one mentioned this, but Chuck’s (among others) last day was last week. Just saw a promo on KCBS, then new KCAL Morning News debuts this Thursday, 1/5. TV listings seem to confirm this with the broadcast starting at 4am and CBS Mornings airing live at 4am on KCBS.

I was just going to @FiveNews because he may be right. When I’ve tuned in at 11 and Chuck isn’t there, it’s generally Robert filing in. I’m just not a fan of his style. I doubt they’ll move up the weekday morning guy after all those Lynnette related promos. The weekend evening guy, his name escapes me, but he is good, but also an unlikely move. There aren’t too many males there now that I’m thinking of it.

Wow, this is insane! I also grew up here with all these familiar names. It’s too bad. Layoffs seem to be occurring in so many industries. Despite a hiring freeze, ABC7 has an opening for a general assignment reporter; I hope one of the KNBC folks can hop across the street. I’m glad Colleen is staying and I hope they don’t replace Chuck with Robert Kovacik; perhaps Michael Brownlee can move up. But wow!

Initially I thought “Mark has balls” and management must be chill for approving his message. Then he got suspended and I was confused because even after management informed talent not to speak about Lynette on-air, Mark advertised on Twitter informing he was going to talk about her the following morning at 8. I just assumed management knew because surely if I’d seen Mark’s Twitter post someone inside must’ve seen it too, right? So Mark has his rant, shaming management for not allowing Lynette to say goodbye, then just a bit ago, I see in the LA Times, Lynette didn’t want to say goodbye HAHAHAHA. Why tf didn’t Mark know this? Now he looks even more foolish IMO. To get fired over all this is insane. It demonstrates he’s not mature and a loose cannon. No one else in the market will hire him.
