  1. If she's still here when Glenn decides to retire, then I wouldn't be surprised. It may seem like the station is promoting Tammie pretty heavily, with her being in the middle of the group shot in the First Alert Weather promos. But I think that was just circumstantial, like when Sheena was still with the station and how they'd promote her in promos, events, etc. I had hoped that she would have succeeded Glenn when the time came. Nevertheless, Tammie's here now and I hope in time I grow to like her.
  2. For me, it makes sense that 6 made their temp set in the Inside Story studio, taking some of the elements from the old set with them. If I remember correctly, this new building that they have been in since 2009, was supposed to be more spacious. So if the Inside Story studio is where they can camp out for a little bit, why not? Plus, the framework of the outgoing set has been there from the start of their time in the new building back in 2009, with tweaks and refreshes since then. Agreed. KYW's set felt more like a refresh than a new set, and it's just bleh. The WTXF set that came out in August feels stale. If WCAU wasn't working with such a small space, their window-style studio could have been so much better. Keith Jones took a 360 shot of the set recently on his social media account (can't remember if it was FB or Instagram) and it's clear of the limited space that they are working with. Since we're talking about the temp WPVI set, I guess I'll share a few things about their sets that I have loved over the years: -Everything about the late 90s, early 2000s set, because of its simplicity and elegance. -The glass etched Action News logo that they use to zoom out from going into and out of break.
  3. Ever since the Comcast takeover in 2011-2012ish, WCAU's brand has been hard news. I don't feel like Tracy, Vai, and Jessica going live in Wawa takes anything away from the substance of the newscast. They still had Rosemary doing most of the morning newscast in the studio and checking in after news, weather, and traffic. The morning newscast has gone on location, DNC and the Inauguration, and they had someone in home base doing the rest of the newscast.
  4. Coming into Today in 2006, Meredith's credentials were already impressive. Hard to not have her equal to Matt. As for Savannah, if not for Matt's tenure at Today, she would be seen as equal, even surpassing Matt. NBC News worked her hard in 2016, with primetime election coverages and going on Today the following day. I agree that she would return, but you never know. As Today is celebrating their 65th anniversary, Ann was the host of the program when it turned 60. At this point, the people that were involved with her being ousted are still in Today. I would say maybe in 20 years, minimum, she would come back. It is apparent to us that this was a prime example of PR mistakes and lack of foresight by NBC News. Regardless of the leaks that came out about her relationship with the Today Show talent and executives, I think the NBC News brass tried to force Ann into the co-anchor mold of Katie and Meredith, not having the foresight that the chemistry with Matt and her strengths as an anchor was different from her predecessors. P.S. Sorry for the Ann Curry fiasco rant there.
  5. Matt was probably still high being with Katie all last week. You guys have to remember that the morning show grind takes its toll on people and Meredith was one of them. Plus, I think that when she was offered to succeed Katie, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that she could not pass up at that time. Now that Meredith has done it, I doubt it's something she would want to return to full time. Also, I bet they were going to have Meredith return for Matt's anniversary (which she didn't), and Today's 65th anniversary, so why not have her on for a full week?
  6. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/1/6/leaving-the-firm Sounds like she'll be starting late winter or spring.
  7. Totally agree! The banter and jokes were still there all week between Katie and Matt. I don't think there's any doubt that their pairing from 1997, when Matt started as co-anchor, to 2006, when Katie left, was one of the longest and most successful pairings Today has had.
  8. How so? NBC had used her extensively this year, especially during the election. She has more of a future in Today than any of their current talent.
  9. Yeah the TV listings are confusing. I was waiting for 10 to go on this morning at 4 only to find Early Today on. Vai and Tracy's bio pages has them anchoring NBC 10 News Today from 4:30-7, along with the livestream times listed from 4:30-7.
  10. Is it me or has NBC 10 News Today gone back to 4:30-7?
  11. Per http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Meteorologist-Sheena-Parveen-Will-Soon-Join-StormTeam-4-396016591.html: "Sheena will join fellow StormTeam 4 Meteorologist Chuck Bell and the rest of the NBC4 morning team, delivering in-depth coverage and the flexibility to forecast and report on the weather from the studio, the field, the Storm Team 4x4 and StormRanger 4, and from Chopper 4."
  12. Wow! I'm really sad to hear that she's leaving.... Her and Glenn have established a good 1-2 punch when it comes to covering weather. Over these last five years, she's been one of the most prominent personalities of the station. Sheena was a fresh, new face when she came in 2011, at a time when 10 needed to infuse new talent. Best of luck to her in DC! I know she's going to be awesome there, and who knows, her and the chief meteorologist in DC, Doug Kammerer, might develop the same weather combo that she had with Glenn. As for the First Alert Weather team, it looks like it's going to be in flux once again. Only about two weeks ago we thought it might have been settled with the permanent addition of Erika Martin, then this happens... I certainly hope 10 does not return to how it was before Sheena came where Glenn did the 4, 5, 6, (there was a 7 and 10 PM newscasts then) and 11. Since this is a sad news we just got, I should end my post with this:
  13. Not surprised since she's been doing weekend weather for them for several months now. I also liked Violeta Yas when she filled in but she is Telemundo 62's meteorologist. Finally, a fully staffed weather team going into this winter season. Plus, Bill Henley can take some time off where all the meteorologists' shift changes (i.e. earlier this year with Bill on vacation, Sheena was filling in on mornings and Glenn got sick for a few days so Doug Kammerer from WRC and Dave Price from WNBC had to pinch-hit for Glenn.)
  14. The rotating graphics could really be useful with the First Alert Weather's 7 day forecast at the bottom of the screen. Ever since the new graphics were released, I've noticed in numerous occasions that the NBC10 logo with the time and temperature remains on screen during weather segments and is on top of the "First Alert Weather" logo.
  15. Isn't the Phillies game telecast on CSN Philly even on nights that NBC10 airs the game? Because if that's the case, then I would imagine CSN not caring all that much if it's 3 minutes before 11 and the 11PM news over at NBC 10 would be starting soon. It's not as though CSN is also airing the newscast. I admit that the way the graphics and transition was handled, was poorly done. However, for me, I'd rather have them transition to something substantive, like news, or extend the post-game highlights and comments for another three minutes. I know if I was a viewer, I would have probably switched the channel to somewhere else if commercials were to run in those three minutes.
  16. The City Hall shot would look good during the daytime newscasts (11 AM, 4 and 5) and the Philly skyline for the 6 and 11 PM. At least it gives them a way of differentiating between newscasts.
  17. Is Look A the package they released in the early 2000s?
  18. "Digital Operations Center" had a nice ring to it. "Breaking News Center" just sounds too simplistic and generic. It's disappointing that they changed the former, but that's just my opinion. I watched a little bit of the news this morning and I have mixed feelings of Look N. While it looks more polished than the old graphics, there are some aesthetics that I don't really like, such as the slanted/italicized text and the font. Hope there's more tweaks to come.
  19. It's about time they hired a weekend meteorologist. Normally when Bill is off or on vacation, they would have Sheena move up to mornings and Glenn handling all the afternoon/evening newscasts. That became a problem earlier in the spring when Bill was on vacation, Sheena was filling in the mornings, and Glenn was out sick. They had Doug Kamereer from WRC in Washington and Dave Price from WNBC in New York fill in for a few days. At least now, Bill has a primary sub where they won't have to bother Sheena. It is interesting though that Krystal is the weekend morning meteorologist. Maybe they're okay with Violeta Yas handling weekend evenings since she has filled in that role ever since Brittany Shipp left. Also, it can be because weekend mornings was vacated before weekend evenings.
  20. I think many of them at 6abc posted something about Lisa's retirement, as Cecily did shown below: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10157048036770094
  21. Looks like no one has posted it here yet... but 10 has quietly and recently launched "NBC 10 Responds". They apparently handle consumer complaints and it's an arm of the NBC 10 Investigators, headed by Hairston.
  22. This move makes sense for Natalie since Today would have her traveling on location, such as the deaths of Prince and Nancy Reagan recently. Plus she's been with Today for 10(?) years doing the third hour. I don't blame her taking on this new role... a change of scenery. Also, I have enjoyed watching Sheinelle on Today. It may because she came from the Fox Philly station why I'm rooting for her, but she brings new life to the show that Tamron and Erica couldn't bring.
  23. Could Michael joining GMA full time not just be a precursor of an expanded GMA but a Good Afternoon America, with Lara and Michael? I agree with those that have said that ABC had the power to "move" Michael from Live to GMA. The money from advertisers is in the mornings, hence the expansion of Today to four hours (from coffee at 7 AM to wine at 10... AM). If GMA does decide to expand to three hours, I can easily see Lara and Michael being the main anchors of the 9 AM hour. They can very much rival and surpass Today's Take. However, if this is the case, this DOES weaken ABC's daytime lineup, as the network only fixed an hour of their lineup. Live is definitely unstable now with finding a new co-host for Kelly. The View's struggles are well-documented. ABC O&Os having to expand newscasts to an hour at noon, and news at 4. Then there's The Chew and FABLife, which I'm not sure how they are doing, but I can't imagine that they are that dominant.
  24. They actually did. Each forecast breaks down the current, high, and low temps down to the region, only showing specific towns. I guess now with the WeatherUnderground partnership, they can zoom down to even smaller towns and municipalities. I like the idea of narrowing down forecasts to specific regions/towns, but I hope 10 tweaks some things onward. After watching their forecasts tonight, I felt bombarded with numbers. I did experience some sort of nostalgia though when Glenn showed a 10-day forecast; reminded me of his old 10-day trend back in the Earthwatch era/early 2000s. Also, I've noticed 10 in the mornings showing current temps of specific towns using their banner coming out of and going into breaks.
