  1. I was looking at job postings locally and found that KGTV ABC10 San Diego is looking for an anchor for the local version of The Now: They are also looking to expand their morning cast with a Live Center anchor position as well. I wonder when The Now will premiere, I don't remembering hearing or seeing any promos about it, same thing can be said about the new syndicated talkshow program that they picked up, Tyra's FabLife show that will air at 2pm here in San Diego come September 14. I've seen promos saying that Inside Edition will be moving to KFMB (CBS 8) this fall. So San Diego will now have 4 newscasts competing against each other at 4pm. Will be interesting to see what the KGTV version of The Now will look like and how it will they differentiate themselves from the rest. I would prefer a hard-news and relevant topics angle (something like CBS This Morning) without the use of Kardashians, puppy videos and the latest diet trends to fill up most of the hour. If any of you follow local news down here in this classy city, Channel 10 developed and aired "10-4: San Diego" back in May of 2006 when they lost Oprah to KFMB's CBS 8, that talkshow hybrid was pretty fluffy and was canned that same summer just before the 2006-2007 television was about to start and they stuck to just a simple, regular newscast for the rest of that season before going to a two-hour gameshow block the season after that. I hope that history won't repeat itself and they have learned their lesson.
  2. Oh yes, I've enjoyed Cristela Alonzo's appearances as well, she excels in this format that's for sure. I've been tracking her on Twitter since the cancellation of her sitcom on Friday and she has repeatedly told her fans that would not be interested in co-hosting for the show, so it seems like she has decided to pursue other opportunities or has been told the direction of where The View is heading.
  3. Recap of the soap opera drama called The View as well inside information about that Katie Couric-Matt Lauer daytime show that was in the works, presented by Vanity Fair: The View's Epic Fight for Survival If there's truth to these accounts, it amazes me how disorganized the show has gotten behind-the-scenes. From various ABC execs to the multiple transitions of producers, there seems to have been too many cooks in kitchen, which it all comes down to egos not wanting to collaborate together. I've seen some episodes of this show within the past season and I do feel like the show has slowly gotten its groove back. There was so much unneeded tension between O'Donnell and the other panel hosts, especially between Whoopi and O'Donnell. Whoever thought having both of those people together should have been fired. I did like O'Donnell though, there was magic at times when she was passionate about a particular segment or subject, but unfortunately she was shaky and unreliable during the rest of the time. O'Donnell's exit improved the show I would say, as Whoopi has reclaimed captain of the ship. I do believe that both Wallace and Perez also found their voices on the show, it did take some time, but both seem more comfortable with live television. As for who should join them? My favorite has been Michelle Collins, she has the wit and charm, which has been missing on the show; the same thing could be said about Stacy London. I also think Paula Farris of ABC News could help bring more balance to the show, as she has brought her Christian experiences to the table, she might be able to bring Middle America back to the show after so many of them have said they left since Hasselbeck's exit. I also do like ESPN's Samantha Ponder as well, if they are interested in getting back the younger demographic. Raven seems to be a popular candidate though. I wouldn't mind if they tried out S.E. Copp, Sunny Hostin or Sage Steele again from last year's try outs, but it seems like those bridges were burned from their chemistry tests that they had with Whoopi and O'Donnell.
  4. Yeah, Palmer, T.J. Holmes and Rob Marciano fit perfectly when they appear on the show, they both help balance the chemistry between the main anchors when Strahan is unable to be there.
  5. Yeah it does seem like a very delicate situation, but the promos are making it sound like Kimi will be the permanent weather anchor for the morning show. This situation feels somewhat similar to the one KGTV was in a few years ago on their morning show. Carol Sullivan was just newly installed as the news anchor when she went into maternity leave a few months later, they then installed Kaushal Patel as her replacement for Midday and her substitute for the morning show as Carol was also on maternity leave, a few months latter it seemed like they started running promos that highlighted Kaushal as their morning co-anchor (My memory is foggy, but I don't think they actually announced that Carol left the station). In less than five years, It seemed like KGTV went through 4 co-anchors. With the whole union debacle factored into the equation, that station was under turbulent times till Scripps came in.
  6. Having "Mike & Mike" on the second floor should make things interesting at Times Square Studios, I do miss seeing the views from that floor and I preferred seeing GMA having more space when they rented out that space back in the 2000s (using their second floor for hard-news and interviews and the first floor for more recreational activities and lifestyle segments). These days with it's limited space, GMA looks like a topsy-turvy party, but the show works I guess. Looks like we'll be seeing more ESPN on ABC, having "Mike & Mike" appear occasionally/normally on GMA should help bring much needed testosterone on the show. Speaking of ESPN, is Tony Reali still a social media correspondent for GMA? I no longer watch GMA on a regular basis, but whenever I scan the program during the second hour, I no longer see him. I tried looking for clues on social media, but other than his header photo on Twitter, there's no clear indication he is on GMA. Did he disappear or are his appearances scaled back now? I do feel like Jesse Palmer has taken his place as an on-air talent as he has now appears with the anchors on a frequent basis, but it doesn't feel like they made his position official.
  7. Yeah, Ben has been doing the "Headlines from Around the Globe" section the last couple days. He's doing a nice job, but I'm wondering if they are trying something new?
  8. Question, so Jeff and Vanita are filing in for Charlie and Gayle the last couple days. They usually have the three main anchors sharing headline duties, right? So why do they have a fourth person, in this case Ben Tracy, doing the headlines the past few days? Has this been a normal occurrence lately?
