Woods was the ABC affiliate's first meteorologist when the station signed on in 1954 and stayed at Channel 8 until he retired in 1989. Woods was best known for his beloved character "Gusty", who Woods drew every night during his forecasts. His work is currently displayed at Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington.
