The morning weather when Snedeker is on makes a graphic artist like myself CRINGE.  The 7-Day looks slapped together by a 5 year old. Nothing in-line, differing fonts, the boxes just put wherever. 🤢🤢

Not to mention, in the AM and Noon, Temperatures for all days are displayed "High/Low", but in all other dayparts, it's "Low/High".  Why?

I realize WNEP can get away with most anything it seems in the TEGNA empire, but my god, I wonder if anyone at corporate pays attention to their broadcasts.

What's you complaining about? This (up there) is tame! You should see what he did with the Tribune graphics. TEGNA knew what they was walking in to and still decided to keep it and "The Next 7 Days of Your Life" because it's a "GREAT DAY TO BE ALIVE!". Besides, this is the morning newscast not the 6pm update.

Why are the anchors off center?

Seating them this way allows them to distance while maintaining a video wall behind each anchor. Pretty simple.

Actually there's no chair in the weather position because there's no base for the chair. There's only room for 3 chairs on a normal day, whoever does weather stands on the black box.

Cut him some slack. He's learning 🤣😂

Who learning? If it's Eric Wotila, he had 9 years to learn. If it's everyone else, who knows.

I worked with a news anchor who battled an alcohol addiction. It's not just about someone having too much fun and getting carried away, there sometimes are much deeper issues we don't know about. My co-workers and I tried to build up a strong support network around her, but she still ended up losing her job and eventually her life due to this addiction.

When we're talking about on air talent on this website, I don't think it's a lot to ask that you try to have some kind of respect for the person - as we have no idea what they were going through when they made the decisions they did.

Case in point: Former WAGA & WGCL anchor Amanda Davis.

  5. Since Monday, Lonnie is presenting the weather in a barn in Westport, CT (where he been hanging out mostly in the last few weeks).

It has everything except a clicker but a phone call to Georgie saved the day!

  6. Y'all happy now? Because if the next time WCBS (or any other station) has to leave their studios for whatever reason, I'm sending them straight to y'all houses so they can stay local. There hasn't been a newscast on WLNY for over 2 weeks and y'all stayed silent but WCBS was forced out and someone else helped them back on the air and y'all think the world was ended.

I'm glad they are back at the Broadcast Center (not in the main studio) and they're using CBSN theme for bumpers and the close.

IDK how long ago this happened, but Ch. 2 seems to have cancelled the 12 Noon newscast.  They are running Entertainment Tonight or one of those other gossip shows instead.  Bad job by Ch. 2. if this is permanent.  In a time when NY needs more news/information than ever due to this Covid-19, this is a completely irresponsible move.  As it is Channel 2 is last place in the 3 station news race, to my knowledge, and will certainly stay there now.

They know it'll be preempted by some kind of Tri-State governor's statement, so why prepare a noon show? They have more important things to worry about (not having a functional building/newsroom) than preparing a noon show that'll probably go in the shredder anyways. These are unusual times and there are stations placing their E/I burdens on during weekday noon hours in order to get them in if 45 preempts them on the weekends and provide something to kids knowing they're a captive audience.

Honestly, FTVLive's usual 'news grump' act looks kind of petty right now; I don't give a damn about their whining about some reporter having their regional Emmy in their home shot.

Plus, they're limited on in-studio news anchors since the weekday team is doing all the newscasts for the time being (one anchor only) while the rest is at home or on the field. Save the energy for mornings, evenings, and nights. Besides between 11am-6pm, they'll be preempted by Cuomo (NY), Murphy (NJ), DiBiaso (NYC), and Trump in that order.

  8. The KCBS anchor who was there this morning is Hermela Aregawi.

This isn't normal times, we're in a state of emergency. May I remind you the entire CBS Broadcast Center is closed meaning the CBS network is controlled by LA, CBS News is controlled by DC & LA, and all shows productions (local, network, and syndicated) is stalled in that building. "In times like these, we need each other. We must bond together in spirit and in service."

  9. News 12 Bronx/Brooklyn won't be broadcasting from their Bronx studio until at least Monday morning. N12 LI will broadcasting during that time.

With that and WCBS in mind, who here on this forum who lives in NYC wants a local anchor to broadcast from their house instead so they can keep it local?

  10. Let me keep it real:

Some of y'all upset WCBS's newscasts was handled by KCBS/KPIX for three days? "Woe is me I didn't see Maurice for a few days, I can't go face the world if Mary ain't on, why does Lonnie have them fancy graphics behind him?" Give me a break! Be lucky you got several newscasts, you could had none at all for a few days!

Moving on, don't forget the entire CBS Broadcast operations in New York was affected meaning DC, Boston, LA & SF was handling everything for a few days including Inside Edition, Last Week Tonight, CBS News and if March Madness was still going on, they would've relocated elsewhere.
